I posted this to AussieFrugal (altered a little for this post) for those who hadn’t thought of big cook ups and freezing, or thought that it might be too difficult… It’s meals I like which wouldn’t suit everyone (but gives you an idea) and there are cheaper recipes but this has been working well for me and I’m glad I started doing it. Being on my own it would be very easy for me to have baked beans on toast every night 😳 So I’ve done a big cook up of five or so meal types every month or two for a few years and freeze portions in freezer bags. Generally around 150g protein and 150-250g fresh steamed veg (cooked nightly), occasionally salad. * I’m lower ca... I took advantage and bought carrots, parsnips and sprouts with no particular plan in mind. I bascially shredded the carrots and parsnips, steamed them with the sprouts on top, removed the sprouts after they were cooked. I then added whatever was in my eyeline to the carrot/parsnip mix that I thought might go well, and stirred it into a partial mash. Things I added: Olive oil, worcestershire sauce, small amount of margerine, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper. I ate i...
