My mum is obsessed with the news-

7h ago

Recently it’s all Trump this and Trump that. We live in the UK, and thankfully she is anti-Trump, but to be quite honest, I really couldn’t care less anymore about what he does. The less I see him and his ****** face on my screen, the happier I am. It got to a point where she started giving us a running update whilst we were visiting my grandparents and trying to have a nice meal out. Even my dad told her that honestly, he didn’t want to hear about it whilst we were having a nice time and she got very angry and upset. Today I told her straight as she gives me another update on her running commentary of the Iran war - I don’t care. I really don’t care about any of it. For my own...

My girlfriend is really naive about potentially dangerous encounters

7h ago

My girlfriend (F25) and I (M26) have been together for 7 years and live in a city in the UK. She is a lovely person but I often find she can be naive in potentially hostile situations. She often struggles when homeless people or crack heads approach her and she hasn't lots of experience turning down unwanted attention. She's usually always with me or friends who are competent at this. I am currently visiting my parents and she went out drinking with some of her friends and her two brothers who recently moved to our city. After a certain point, she was tired and wanted to go home and told her brothers she would be fine. Usually if she is out with friends she will call me to come g...

Match day recommendations?

7h ago

Hello all Secured a ticket for Everton and this will be my first time at the Gtech :) I’m beyond excited, I’m planning it now and have a few questions for everyone related to getting the most out of it. I’m staying in Brentford for the full on immersive experience. When in Brentford…. 1. Best time to arrive stadium for a 3pm start? I happen to really enjoy watching warmups and any pre-match activities 2. Favorite pre and post game pubs? 3. Restaurants in Brentford worth trying while in town? Looks like the High Street has the biggest selection but maybe the waterfront for character? This place seems to have great reviews: https://www.samswaterside.co.uk/ Pricey but YOLO and...

I think i have Crohns or Colitis and the doctors in the UK don’t take me seriously

7h ago

Hi doctors, Im 20F who is around 5’3 weighing 60kg from the UK. Over the past 6 months Ive been getting ulcers on the tip of tongue that come and then heal after roughly 2-3 weeks then go and then a week later they’d come again. At first i thought it maybe recurrent aphthous ulcers and an iron deficiency, so I switched to an SLS free toothpaste started taking iron supplements i even changed my diet to eat more healthier food and honestly it’s has not helped whatsoever but in last two months Ive seen blood and mucus in my bowel movements, and I was getting fevers at night. Googling all my symptoms it said to call the doctors as it was an emergency,so that is what i did one of the doct...

Need advice: how do owners usually find tenants for commercial space in Gotri?

7h ago

Hello everyone, need a little help from the community. We have 2 road-facing ground floor shops at Labh Icon near Nilamber Circle / Bansal Mall, Gotri, and we’re trying to understand what kind of businesses would be the right fit for this location. Since many people here know the area well, I wanted to ask what usually works better in this belt — retail, office, food, clinic, salon, or something else. Also, do owners here generally depend more on brokers, local references, or online platforms to find the right occupiers? Would really appreciate any practical advice from people familiar with the local commercial market. Thanks in advance. https://reddit.com/link/1sd048s/video/w9gii7rqk...

I may be adopting a neglected cat. Advice on calming him?

7h ago

hi! so I (21M) will potentially be adopting a cat in a couple weeks. he's a very cute russian blue boy (5-6 years old) and unfortunately he's had a pretty rough hand at life. he had his leg purposely broken by a man and had to have it removed, which has caused him to have very little trust in people, he's left at home for weeks at a time with no human contact, he's food aggressive and he struggles with human interaction. he hisses and runs away when you don't know him well, but apparently will come to you if you get to know him. we have been asked to take him on and I've said yes. we want to give him the love and care he deserves so I would like to know any advi...

I Feel Useless And Don’t Know What To Do

8h ago

Warning; long post I’m originally from Northern Ireland, but I moved to The Netherlands nearly 2 years ago for my masters degree. I have a BA (Hons) joint major in History with Politics (and International Relations but they changed my degree name) and an MA in Global History and International Relations. I have spent 10 years trying to get into a politics career, and working with policy or journalism. I never got any opportunities in Ireland or Northern Ireland, was working a dead end retail management job for a company that was underpaying me (I was on a salary that was minimum wage despite what they said) and burning me out and stagnating. I couldn’t afford to do unpaid internships,...

Possible skin allergies?

tl;dr: Senior indoor cat, scratching and over-grooming, chin acne, possibly related food fussiness. Vet on 22nd April, trying to make her comfortable until then. Pippy is a neutered female indoor cat who's turning 13 next month, I've had her since she was 9. She's booked into the vet on the 22nd, which was the first available appointment, but I can call for an urgent appointment if she gets any worse before then. I live in the UK. As you can see in the second picture, she's suffering from some cat acne (the black dots) and hair loss (as well as a chronic, incurable case of sweet angel baby-itis 🥰). She's had the black dots since I got her and I've got som...

Need some career/life pathway advice

8h ago

Hello everyone of of the advice subreddit! I'm a 25m New Zealander, and I wanted to ask some advice about what to do at this point of my life. So, a bit of background. I've worked full-time in basically dead-end, nothing jobs from about 18, to I want to say about 22? Then I got a semi-decent job in the marine industry. However, despite the job not being the worst thing in the world, it still was quite boring and unsimulating, and it was extremely underpaid as well. It was at this point I pulled the trigger, and decided to pursue a degree in economics; as I genuinely had a love for the field, and wanted to get involved in some sort of data/market analytics, if not go further...

Commercial Norwegian waffle maker UK

8h ago

Hello everyone I’m a first time poster but I’m planning to start a Nordic waffle food stall in london. and I’m having great difficulty finding an industrial iron that is heart shaped and has 6 leaves/is big enough.  Closest I’ve found is the Neumarker Big Heart Waffle Maker on Nisbets but it’s a little small and only 5 hearts. One idea I’ve had is to get that and commission an iron monger to make the mould I’m after. Does anyone have any experience with this waffle maker or know a good supplier for one in the uk.  Sorry about the specific nature of this post, I know it’s a long shot but any help would be very appreciated  Thank you

Looking for a hiking buddy!

8h ago

Hi! I’m a man in my mid 20s, solo travelling to Madeira between 10-15 April from the UK! I’ll be renting a car, and staying in the mountains in the centre of the island for the first couple of nights, and then in Funchal for the rest of the trip! Would love to make some friends to hike with (and grab food + drinks after)! Feel free to drop a dm or comment if you want to chat :)

UK vegans! Aussie visitor looking for balti in Brum & Reuben in London

9h ago

We are heading over to the UK next month and we’re very excited to explore the vegan food scene while we’re there. I’ll be spending some time in Birmingham and would love to find a really good vegan balti, any recommendations? I’ll also be in London and I’m on the hunt for a great vegan Reuben sandwich, if anyone knows a spot that does a proper good one. Open to any other must-try vegan food suggestions in either city too! Thanks so much in advance 🌱

I made a big mistake...

9h ago

I'm embarrassed to write this but I think it's important to be open. Short version - In a moment of frustration, I told my depressed partner his low moods were exhausting for me and he's been completely shut down since. Context: My partner has dealt with depression the whole time I've known him. In the first year of our relationship before moving out together, things were great, we went on trips, loved travels together, had more money to spend, were very intimate, etc. After moving in, the weight of adult life hit us - my partner more than me.. and he got really overwhelmed. He's always worked retail, long hours, never has much money, always in survival mode. I&#...
