Mince Pricing from 2017

I was going through my photos just getting rid of some old ones and I found this picture I took of some expired mince in 2017. 1.95kg for £10 at 12% fat ratio, we had it so good…

I built a browser extension to find the best value groceries and I am stuck on marketing like most people.

7d ago

I’ve always ***** how UK supermarkets make it hard to see which product is the best value. Supermarkets often show the same items in different sizes, but don’t let you sort by price per unit, and then when they do, they ignore special offers. I built a browser extension that automatically sorts every product on the page by price per unit, including special offers. It currently only works on Tesco, Asda and Morrisons. I need to add more. I am stuck on the part where i think most people get stuck. The marketing. I am trying to grow organically through SEO. Does my website look professional or like a child made it? [https://valuesort.co.uk/](https://valuesort.co.uk/) Any good...

Pringles never being on sale is bonkers

7d ago

Looking to get some Pringles as a treat whilst typing this and doing my shop and it occurred to me that when I was in America a couple of years ago our cousins love their sales over there and their marketing tricks. Regular Pringles price cut down to their actual price to trick you into thinking you're getting the snack food deal of the century but here? Nothing. I've never seen Pringles on sale anywhere in at least a decade. Morrisons, Asda, Co-op etc have sales of course but never for Pringles...why? Have they suddenly become a luxury snack item alongside those overpriced kettlechips you get at hotel bars and I missed the memo on this? Release the Pringles damnit.

Money problems?

8d ago

Hi! Not sure how this works and it’s the first time I’m posting on here. But if there’s any millionaires or billionaires out there reading this that would like to help a girl out that would be great and very very appreciated!! Especially during this festive period……. I’m a 35 year old with 2 kids living in the north east of England. I’m a business owner and a nurse. How is it then that I’m just about making ends meet! I have a retail business where I employ 3 staff. I have no issues with that as that money is helping someone else put food on their table and that money gets circulated back into the economy. I do my bit in the business and do shifts as well as looking aft...

Asda turnaround derailed by bungled £1bn IT overhaul - Financial Times

8d ago

Struggling UK supermarket chain Asda said its turnaround plan was running six months behind schedule after sales were hit by another spell of severe disruption stemming from a £1bn-plus IT overhaul. The private equity owned retailer said on Friday that the completion of a huge multiyear project to transition away from systems run by its previous owner Walmart had resulted in a shortage of groceries on its shelves. The disruption contributed to a 2.8 per cent drop in Asda’s like-for-like sales in the third quarter. The problems mark a further setback for Asda, which is seeking to recover some of the substantial market share losses it has suffered since being taken private in 2021 by pr...

Egg irl

The monkey btw is from a marketing thing Jammie dodgers did in 2011/12 where they had toffee and chocolate flavours They used monkey puppets in the ads and made plushies that were sold in places like Tesco or Asda They’re so stupidly rare, not cause they’re valuable, but cause no one gives a **** about them Anyway autistic infodump over, be safe besties 🫶

Black Friday: Alan Bradshaw on the danger of mass consumerism

11d ago

# Mass consumerism is destroying our planet. This Black Friday, let’s take a stand In 2008 a Walmart worker was trampled to death by crowds at a Black Friday shop opening in New York. The event was one of a handful of incidents that became emblematic of that distinctly American occasion. Black Friday, which takes place today, still registers as the busiest shopping day of the year in the US. https://preview.redd.it/q04umv5tlh3g1.jpg?width=3679&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc6ff6118a72b1f21a62d26276de4f0d427f6d08 But in recent years, shopping aisles in the UK have started to tremble too. Black Friday, once only seen by Britons when watching US television shows, is a re...

A retrospective on Jedi Jim (series 7)

11d ago

Jim was an interesting one to go back to, but also one of the most fun. Series 7 is full of delightful candidates, but probably the most fondly rememberred of the lot is Jedi Jim. He was easily the most promissing out of the boys in week 1, having negotiated his team's soup ingredients for very little money (around £40 I think). He was also fantastic on the selling side, being the highest seller for the team. But it was week 2 where Jim's most famous moment arrived. The task was to develop an app, and the boys' creation was an app where you could listen to various catchphrases spoken in different regional accents. I have to say that I feel for the boys in this task due to th...

Any Referral Codes for SheMed or ASDA?

17d ago

Looking around for wegovy, narrowed it down to these two choices. SheMed because the first dose is £79, then its £139, which is decent for the current market price. They also provide coaching and a free blood test before the actual doses start. ASDA, on the other hand, is a big-name brand, so it makes it easier to trust it. My friend's mom is with SheMed, but has no referral codes for now. Does anyone here have a referral code for either of these providers, then I could compare the final price before ordering? Thanks!

All the GPhC inspection outcomes in one table

20d ago

I've put all the pharmacies in one table and ordered them by their last inspection date. It's interesting, there's a few that have been inspected recently and met all the standards at the initial inspection. I think we'll add this to a wiki page and keep it updated in case anyone has a burning interest. I might make a list of CQC info for the CQC registered clinics. |Company|GPhC|Pharmacy|Initial Inspection|Original Outcome|Reinspection| |:-|:-|:-|:-|:-|:-| |Pills2U|[9012634](https://inspections.pharmacyregulation.org/pharmacy/detail/pills2u-9012634)||2025-10-14|Standards met|| |PillSphere|[9012694](https://inspections.pharmacyregulation.org/pharmacy/detail/pill-spher...

Congestion Charge Question

27d ago

Hello, I was wondering anyone could be kind enough as to tell me if it is possible to drive in and around (but not beyond) the area encircled in red on this map by entering from the "Eastern Bypass Road" (via the green arrow), without paying the congestion charge? I'm planning on driving to Oxford soon, but only need to be in that one area. If I haven't given enough information, please do ask.

Regression through time

Regression through time. And prediction of future events. Story/Experience 2025-2029 Regressor- originally posted with dif account on subreddit- r/future and on r/simulation theory It wasn't the right subreddits - I've edited this a bit so if you want to read the original please do but don't judge my twin. Ty. General Hi, my self and my twin for reasons known now have repeatedly regressed most recently from the ages of 28 to 20.( Sometimes we go from 23-8) So the info is based on the most recent regression but these events almost always played out like everything is predated, that's not to say you cant change the future but beware it will follow what's set and ...

Horror Time with Harry Styles

48d ago

**©** DEREK GABRIEL 1992 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED *The Ghoaster* I threw the first punch. It was quick; the kind of whiplash, forked-lightning speed you only learned from a ninth-level Shaolin master - which I did - and only then once you’ve surpassed their skill. Which I had. The baseball-capped youth took the hit like a super-charged cattle prod, careering backward in a violent arc and clattering with a potato-sack thud onto the wet Digbeth cobbles. ‘You’re dead, mate. You’re ******* dead.’ That’s what the bulky one in the red hoodie had said to me not moments before. My response was measured, deliberate. “I’ve died many times already,” I said, “but not tonight.” Th...

Why do children keep dying from toxic cough syrup?

53d ago

**The deaths of 24 children in India last month was the latest tragedy caused by toxic medicine. But who is being held to account?** Last month, parents in the central Indian city of Chhindwara noticed that their children were not recovering from ordinary colds and fevers. Within days, a strange situation became a terrifying one: some of the kids were experiencing kidney failure. Similar cases were reported in one other state. And by mid October, 24 children across the country had died. The deaths have been connected to three types of cough syrup, all of which had been fatally contaminated: Coldrif, made by Sresan Pharmaceutical, Respifresh TR by Rednex Pharmaceuticals, and ReLife syrup...

Lack of Sainsburys Local

55d ago

Sainsburys is trailing very behind tesco despite having similar target markets. Why doesnt sainsburys open their stores at external petrol pumps like tesco does? Even asda has started expanding asda express. It confused me as Esso also is involed in the nectar program, its a no brainer.
