Advice on a new contract

2h ago

Hi, posting this from a throwaway account because I don’t want it to be found somehow. I need your advice. I am considering a new family and going back to a full-time nanny position. It’s one baby, 3 months old. Hours would be 8-4, 40 hours a week. Pay would be 23 an hour and include some house management duties, like ordering groceries and doing the baby’s laundry. They are also offering 2 weeks paid vacation, all federal holidays paid off and 10 personal days paid . Overall I think it’s a good deal and competitive for the market I’m in. They just sent over the contract and there’s a couple of points in hesitant on and would love some advice! - Phone: Limit personal phone cal...

is this normal for holidays!?

2h ago

I just wanna start by saying this is completely unmanageable by me by myself. 😅 they sent over a team leader for just today to help me, but I haven’t had any other help at any point…. Everything you see here in the freezer is all back stuck including what is on the pallets. There’s even a deli/bakery pallet second pallet to the back just because they have no room and neither do I… my accounts and masks have been on point recently because I’m trying to tackle this issue. Could it be an over forecast? Does anyone else have this issue at their store?

How Conservative Plans Help Low Income Canadians

2h ago

Socialism is the act of eventually running out of other people's money. Low income Canadians have been sold the equivalent of the Brooklyn Bridge by the Liberals and the NDP. After all, the tired refrain from the left is to create more public programs, claiming to hardworking Canadians that this is for their own benefit. The reality is that every new public program takes more cash out of the private sector and concentrates power and finance in the public sector, especially in the hands of unaccountable politicians. Who pays for this? Low income and middle class Canadians. Through a combination of inflation, taxation, and debt servicing costs. Consider this thought experime...

General question on vintage fakes - how common were they actually back in the 2000’s?

2h ago

Hi all, I’ve seen a lot of posts on here and other subs talking about how they are “going through their childhood collections” and a lot of the cards are just fake. I have a massive collection from childhood and I have no reason to believe any of them are fakes, but this has me questioning. It doesn’t seem like there would be nearly the market then that exists now, and afaik I (my parents lol) only ever bought from retailers or singles from local card stores. Are people just lying to farm karma or see if people can catch their own fakes? I know generally what to check for (e.g. stagnant holos, font sizes, back coloring, size, off margins), but sorting through them all is alread...

Help identifying Habanero variety

3h ago

Hi everyone ! I just got a couple of peppers at my local grocery store, however they were just labelled « piments Antillais » (Carribean / West Indian peppers ?). I can tell they’re habaneros, but I just discovered that there are several varieties … Do you have any idea what variety these are ? I’m also wondering whether the green to red colours depend on the ripeness, or if they are different species. Thanks a lot in advance !!

Tips for food budgeting

3h ago

Sharing some of my tips but let’s hear yours. My approach: Monthly budget vs weekly if you can, I realize this is a luxury for some if they are paycheck to paycheck. Why? Because there are things that last more than a week and are cheaper in bulk. Rice, flour, peanut butter, sauces etc. you don’t use these up every week but having them on hand makes weekly shops much cheaper. So you may have week1 where you’re spending a lot more but that means you can spend less weeks 2-4. Buy in season or frozen. Don’t buy the $19 watermelon in January. If will be disgusting and expensive. Buy lots of root veggies and cabbage heads etc now and keep in a cool place. Frozen fruits and veggies a...

How bad is the job market really?

3h ago

Okay, I keep seeing videos on YouTube about how bad the job market is, people being laid off, and how you should keep your job at all costs. I can't help but feel like this is partially exaggerated. I secured a job at American Eagle within two days of inquiring in person about hiring opportunities. I just quit the job after finishing day 1 training because it wasn't worth it. This begs the question: how are these people not getting jobs if I got one within 2 days with no experience? When I see these videos, they show people who have applied to "thousands" of jobs online and they get rejected or ghosted, like I did when I was applying online. For example, I got denied...

1 month post op!

3h ago

Hi everyone, here is my before and after. Wanted to make a post as I have been browsing this sub and reading up on everyone's experiences before and after my surgery, it helped me a ton. I am very happy I did it and I am happy with the way I look now, it was always an insecurity. My rib hump is now gone and it feels odd to sit in a chair and feel it with my whole back. Surgery report says: UIV: t5 - LIV: l3 I've had scoliosis since I was a teenager (in late 20s now) and was always told my curve wasn't bad enough to require surgery. Unfortunately the curve got worse and I was redirected to a specialist/surgeon who could help me. He said that the tech and medical advancement...

Part history book, part cookbook, never read anything like this

3h ago

My son got me this cookbook for Christmas last year because he knows I’m a bit of a prepper. I don’t have a bunker or anything, but I do keep shelves stocked with canned food and other essentials. Seeing all the hurricanes, floods, and power outages over the past few years have made me a lot more cautious. This isn’t your regular cookbook. Every recipe is designed to last months or even years without refrigeration, and the author includes the backstory behind each dish. It’s part cookbook, part history lesson, like a little window into how people used to survive when grocery stores and fridges didn’t exist. I’ve been cooking my way through it the past few weeks. Some of the rec...

PSA: Chick Fil A 3800 S 2700 W opening Thurs 11/20

3h ago

There may be traffic issues around there, as 3800 S is a narrow road. Additionally, I would advise against parking in the lot to the north (former grocery store lot). They do a lot of towing (finally, years after the grocery store closed and it was a de facto truck stop.) I'm not endorsing their product or the location, just letting people know in advance.

I have stuff to do but he looks so comfy. Guess I'll go to the grocery store later on 🤷🏻‍♀️

The BlackRock Flush

3h ago

TLDR; Bitcoin ETFs were never designed as a gift to retail investors. They were engineered as a structural container capable of absorbing pressure that the traditional financial system could no longer hold safely in public view. When BlackRock clients unloaded more than half a billion dollars of ETF exposure in a single day, it was not panic or profit taking. It was the opening move of a deliberate cycle where Bitcoin fills, drains, and collapses so the system can release weight without damaging its own foundations. Once this cycle completes, XRP becomes essential because it performs the opposite function. Bitcoin absorbs. XRP settles. Bitcoin collapses to clear the burden. XRP moves value...
