Receiving my first prescription tomorrow, start Saturday5d agoAlright guys! This is it! I’ve decided to get my big *** into gear and get this weight off of me after trying and failing at Weight Watchers, calorie deficit, even considered gastric bypass surgery but changed my mind after getting insurance approval and wanted to try natural (HITT such as orange theory fitness) and still, the pain and aches of the weight while trying aggressive workouts and calorie deficits were just not enough. Anyhow, I’m back on weight watchers as I’ve had the most success with that, using the point system over counting calories was a game changer for me and my mental in terms of not feeling like I’m starving. I got WW clinic and chose to self pay (due to job c... Orange Theory is closing5d agoI’m so sad about this one. Loss for Downtown Decatur Gained weight on 7.5 dose7d agoMy first month doing 2.5, I lost about five pounds. Second month on 5.0 I stayed the same weight. I'm two and a half weeks in using 7.5. I gained two pounds and then lost them again. We're stepping up to 10.0 next month. When I started 7.5 my doctor said he expected to see me lose ten pounds this month. We're halfway through the month, but I doubt I'll see it in the next two weeks. Slow and steady wins the race. ** Edit ** the above are observations, not complaints. In answer to some of the questions, for two to three years prior to starting this, I was averaging 1600-1800 calorie intake per day. I've been doing Orangetheory Fitness four or five times per wee... Seeing what people think about it F30 Intersex (CAIS) struggling with weight, muscle gain and exhaustion – looking for others with similar experience11d agoHi everyone, It actually takes a lot of courage for me to post here because I rarely talk about this, but I feel like I really need to. I’m a 30-year-old woman (F30), intersex, diagnosed with Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (CAIS) when I was 8. I had a gonadectomy when I was around 14–15, and I’ve been on hormonal therapy since then (Premarin), and on a contraceptive pill as well. Body image and weight have always been a struggle for me. Even when I lost a significant amount of weight in university, I was always what people call “skinny fat.” I would absolutely kill myself at the gym. At first I’d lose fat, I’d be happy, but I could never build muscle. I never unde... Interview with CEO Lauren Cody in Athletech News15d agoJust read this article on an recent interview. Not real specifics in the interview but the CEO talks about expanding internationally. [https://athletechnews.com/orangetheory-fitness-president-lauren-cody-exclusive-interview/](https://athletechnews.com/orangetheory-fitness-president-lauren-cody-exclusive-interview/) Edited to say this was published back in April 2025, but I was just reading it this evening - apologizes if posted before and mods, feel free to delete if so! Orange Theory Fitness Billing tactics:18d agoI signed up for Orangetheory Fitness on Nov 28 after a demo class. I was told I’d pay for one month, get the second month free (January), and that if I canceled before Dec 28, I would not be charged for February. I asked this explicitly multiple times before signing up, because I only needed the gym temporarily while my car was in repair. Based on that explanation, I joined. Later, I found out that under their 30 day rolling cancellation policy, canceling on Dec 26 (which I did, in writing) still allows them to charge for February, because the next billing date (Jan 28) falls within 30 days. This effectively means that the only way to avoid a February charge would have been to cancel on th... Phoenix, AZ studio looking for new owner34d agoMembers of OTF-Midtown in Phoenix have begun receiving the pictured e-mail (the image does not include the full body of the message). Midtown is co-owned with two other studios in the area (Central and Arcadia). In late May, the Camelback Colonnade location (also part of this group) ceased operations. I'm not sure if an e-mail of this nature was sent out prior to that happening. https://preview.redd.it/s41n5sy83g6g1.jpg?width=1133&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b4c9d3ffafc64299694f9cd4962e2443b985420a [ON] Considering a Few Options37d agoI’ve been looking and evaluating a few businesses to buy. They’re all within the $450K - $650K asking price range. Would love to get thoughts on these industries. My background is in corporate finance and I am a CPA. I’m looking to buy something that is less of me working frontline, and more so me providing ownership oversight. They’re potential businesses are below: 1. Cosmetic (Non Surgical) clinic. This place currently has a team, is located in an affluent community, and has a lot of positive reviews on Google. Main drivers of business are injectables (Botox, lip filler, juvederm, etc). I have worked as a bookkeeper in this industry before and know it is lucrative. I am hesitant ... My review after two months42d agoI am a slow runner, started running (and really exercising) in the pandemic. Then joined orangetheory fitness and loved exercising for the first time ever because they told me what to do. After running a 5k in early 2022 decided to use nike training plans to train for a 10k, then 10 miler and eventually three half marathons. But in this period I basically continued otf and just used nike for my long runs, where I increased a mile a week. Then comes 2025, I live in DC and life here has been rough, between losing my job, my closes gym closing etc I really stopped exercising. Decided to try runna to get back in track loving also its convenience. I was out of the country when I signed up which m... Lost 7 lbs under 3 weeks54d agoThis might not be the crazy #s people post but impressive non-the-less to me. Usually my weight loss is when I start-up workouts, e.g. OrangeTheoryFitness. Even doing that when I go HARD, I mean like 5-6 50 minute tread classes per week, it takes weeks to see benefit. Usually zero loss until week 4 or so. Last time I did this I lost 20 lbs but that was 12 weeks of that schedule plus of 'schmcaloric restriction. I haven't really added the workouts in yet (home gym now with Fightcamp Heavy Bag workouts, bench with adjustable dumbbells) so I'm pretty stoked at how those will impact the loss. Goal is 150 lbs but I'm pretty golden at 160 which seems doable by year's end... What Are the Top Rated Gyms and Fitness Centers in Moon Valley Phoenix?54d agoAs a local Moon Valley realtor, one of the most common questions I get from people moving to the area is: "Where can I work out?" Whether you're downsizing to our beautiful community or relocating for work, finding the right gym is often high on the priority list. The good news? Moon Valley has some excellent options, from traditional full-service gyms to specialized studios. Here's what I've learned from talking to residents and researching the area. # The Top-Rated Options in Moon Valley # 1. Body Alive Fitness - Moon Valley **Location:** 350 E Bell Rd #10, Phoenix, AZ 85022 If you're into yoga and mindful movement, this place consistently gets rave revie... Today, I cried for a good reason60d agoI fit back into my wedding dress. And all my favorite dresses I’ve been holding onto. I’m 5 feet tall. 33 years old. I have two kids. I started this journey intentionally at 175 pounds and right now I’m sitting at 138 pounds. At my heaviest, while pregnant, I was 205 pounds. Even while losing weight, I didn’t think I looked that different. But today, I decided to try on some old clothes I haven’t fit in years, and they fit. Some are even big. I couldn’t believe it. I started summer 2024 with CICO. Now I don’t track calories anymore but I still eat in a deficit (pretty sure, but I don’t track like I used to). I do Orangetheory Fitness 3-4 times a week. At around 150 po... A moment of silence for my 6 year streak. All good things must come to an end (charger stolen)66d agoThis is a therapeutic post for me. Whoop has been a game changer, and I would attribute a lot of my personal success and overcoming adversity to my experience with Whoop as a fitness product. Even though I'm framing this as potentially a product review, this is my good natured effort at complaining that I have no way to preserve my 2211 day streak. I was so happy the day that I hit 2200 I sent a screenshot to my aging mother to reminisce in how far I've come. When I first joined Whoop, I had began to take my fitness somewhat seriously again. Seven years ago I suffered my first major bodily trauma. I had just battled back from breaking my shoulder playing amateur ice hockey and I... Recommendations for holistic recovery L5-S1 bulging disc72d agoUPDATE; About two years ago, I was doing a front squat when I felt a pop in my lower back and immediately had trouble standing up straight. I started seeing a chiropractor regularly for about two years, and each time I was told things like “you compressed your spine,” “your psoas is tight,” and “you should stop squatting or lunging.” Every few months, I’d have a flare-up — usually starting with knee pain that would escalate into severe back pain and the same inability to stand up straight. Each time, I’d go back to weekly chiropractic adjustments, but the relief was temporary. In May 2025, the flare-ups became more frequent, so I saw a sports medicine doctor. His initial ...
