I recently spilled water on my 15 pro which broke the screen, however vibrations and sound was still working. I went to a repair shop where we tested if a new screen would work. We tried it without the screen being attached to the rest of the phone and everything worked as usual (touch, Face ID, cameras, etc.) He told us to give him 10 minutes to apply the screen and that he would call us once all was done.
