Comparison Data: Independent Grocers vs Coles (Lamb is 43% cheaper)

1h ago

I've been tracking price variance in Western Sydney to see if the "Independents are cheaper" narrative holds up against the data. I logged prices at a major Fruit Market/Butcher vs the Coles in the same shopping centre today. The variance is massive: Meat: The Butcher is consistently 30-40% cheaper on red meat (Lamb Cutlets $27 vs $49). Produce: Fruit is cheaper at the market, but heavy veg (Onions) was actually cheaper at Coles as at last weekend. It seems the optimal strategy is splitting the shop, which saves about $30−40 on a standard family basket. I've visualized the data in a simple list if anyone wants to check the specific price points. I'll be manua...

Simps and Dust

1h ago

For long, this amazing duo comprising of simps and dust have been inseparable like siamese twins. So there's this guy who has been running a shop on the ground floor of the building I live in and I've known him for 3 years. The shop belongs to someone else but he sells and manages it. So recently about October he abruptly closed it without notice. Juzi he knocks at my door asking me to help him store a few of his electronics because the wife of the shop's owner had kicked him out (dude lived in some nook behind the shop) but he wouldn't tell me why. During his lamentations he narrates bitterly how a chick he's been paying rent for, for two years, and who lives immedi...

Anyone to help me with this novel?: BETRAYAL AND SWEET REVENGE.

1h ago

Chapter 1 The key turned silently in the lock, just as I'd planned. Three days early from the Singapore conference—I'd wanted to surprise Matthew with his favorite takeout from that little Italian place on Fifth Street. The house felt different the moment I stepped inside, charged with an energy that made my skin prickle. A woman's laughter drifted down from upstairs, light and musical. Not mine. My briefcase slipped from numb fingers, hitting the marble floor with a sharp crack that echoed through the foyer. The sound should have alerted them, but the laughter continued, now joined by Matthew's deeper chuckle—the one he used to reserve for me during our lazy Sunday ...

Puzzle Hunting Guide 🧩 Where to Shop for Jigsaws in Australia 🇦🇺

1h ago

I went on a trip to Australia recently and did some research for puzzles there and thought to share to y’all. Most Australian jigsaw puzzles feature flowers, plants, and wildlife themes, with a dreamy art style. If you like hand-drawn or artistic illustration vibes, you’ll probably love Australian puzzles :) 🧩 Where The Wild Things Are & Avid Readers Two independent bookstores next to each other in West End, Brisbane. I unexpectedly found several unusually shaped puzzles there. Photos 1–8. 🧩 QBD Books A national bookstore chain in Australia. Puzzle prices are very friendly. after discounts most are A$12–15. Lets talk about Husk<3

1h ago

Ello, Mashpotato here:> I made another Husk post, why? Because he hardly gets any attention T\^T I swear anything I see about him is circling back to Huskerdust in some way or another, don’t get me wrong, its a neat ship, It’s not my cup of tea tho, I think they could have work shopped it a bit more and really fleshed it out, it felt like Husk was being a simp just for the sake of them making the ship work. But it’s obviously going to happen considering uh.. they made it very clear Husk has a \*Type\* in men- (Makes me wonder what his type is in women.. For OC purposes obviously:>) anyway— sorry about my tangent- thats our first topic of discussion.. Now, Wh...

small towns "stuck in" or with a HEAVY 80's-90's feel?

1h ago

i don't know how to make decisions without a handful of of people telling me on the internet, but i desperately want to move. i have plenty of time to make this decision but i'm scared i'll end up somewhere i don't like. this might sound "i'm so different" of me but i really dislike newer age technology, the pool of people, the dating scene and the minimalist buildings engulfing everything. i can barely have a decent conversation outside of my family, and i can walk from one end to the other of my town within an hour. i feel trapped. i can never find outfits i like either, they've started replacing all our stores with newer age, more pricey stores tha...

Stop Looking For The Paranormal

1h ago

Authors note: I posted this awhile back in the first creepcast submission sub, and I meant to poster it here properly the other day. A lot of stuff has happened since I first wrote and submitted this entry, hopefully I'll be able to explain more with the next entry I post. Hello, I don't know how to properly explain this, but I have an addiction. I know how that sounds, but what I say is different from what most people say when they have an addiction though, they'll usually go to a program or get help, or just say screw it and continue to spiral into their vices. I fall somewhere in between. My addiction runs deep, since I was a kid with a neglectful/workaholic parent and too...

How Las Vegas Service Businesses Benefit from Combining Digital PR, SEO, Reputation Management, and AI Search Optimizati...

1h ago

Las Vegas is one of the most competitive service markets in the United States. From home services and hospitality to healthcare, real estate, legal, and professional services, thousands of local businesses compete for consumer attention every day. Historically, ranking well on Google and other search engines required a strong SEO program. Today, however, the landscape has changed. Consumers are turning to AI-driven search tools—such as ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and other conversational engines—creating a new layer of discoverability that every Las Vegas service business must account for. To remain competitive, businesses can no longer rely on SEO alone. They need an integrated strateg...

I looked all over the state of FL and finally found the deal I’m geeked

1h ago

I was literally scheduled to pick up my ARC that I paid $600 for. I’ve looked all over the state of Floridas Home Depot’s for the deal after you guys posted it and not one showed one in stock. I saw this Home Depot 30 minutes away from me selling a lot of Gozney stuff so I figured I would check it out. I walk in and lo and behold there it is sitting on the stand. I asked the manager if they would sell it and he marked it down for me. I can’t thank this group enough. I was really disappointed in settling for the Arc but couldn’t justify the extra $300. But here I am now!

Neighborhood and Logistic Advice - 2026 Move to NYC

1h ago

Long post incoming! Hello, everyone. I’m planning a move to New York City in 2026 and would love some perspective from folks who know these neighborhoods well. Plan A is to renew our lease here in Salt Lake City in May for six months, giving my husband and me (32M / 29M) more time to save and for him to pay down some debt. Plan B is to move in May if a short renewal isn’t offered or if the rent increase feels unreasonable. Either way, our target move window is 2026 with a bit of flexibility. We’ll be visiting NYC in February to scope out neighborhoods, not to sign a lease. We’ve visited NYC about half a dozen times and absolutely love it. It’s a stark contrast to Utah, which is ...

Looking for ways to make some money until I can find a job again

1h ago

Been jobless for a few months, still applying consistently every day, but unfortunately the job market is horrendously bad right now. Anyways, I’m currently trying to make a list of ways I can make some money until I find a job again (and continue to do any side hustles I can while I am working). So far I have DoorDashing and reselling clothes/collectibes I find at thrift stores and antique shops, but I’m looking for more. To preface, I’m currently at *literally* nothing financially, so I can’t really do anything that requires me to invest in something. I’m also not interested in any “surveys”. I would geniunely appreciate any ideas and advice greatly. Side note: I do live ...

So you don't lose track of your oil rig

This just popped up a few minutes ago and of all the things in the world that might need a label, "Oil Rig" would probably be down below nuclear weapons on the list.

Wow! Went from Good to needs work real fast!???

1h ago

I’ve worked this for three years made it to the good rating in 4.97 pretty quickly. In this last month I Went from good to standard because of one person lying about a wrong item. We can’t dispute that. Today it says I am at needs work. What’s up with that? Not our fault. The store is out of things and people don’t want a replacement sometimes? And this is the biggest shopped store in our area, which only has two grocery stores. So it’s out of things a lot. No wonder I sit here for four hours and see nothing.🙄

Advice on hiding a cache in a specific place

1h ago

(If you don’t want the backstory you can skip the question) My wife and I started Geocaching a while back, and one of the places we found a cache was at the World’s Largest Ball of Paint. The cache was indoors and not hidden, you just have to go when he’s open (we were scheduled to go add a layer!) Since then we have had many more finds and the ones we enjoy most are the medium to larger ones that have plenty of room for trinkets. So we decided that for our own hides, we would buy ammo cans and decorate them according to a theme. My wife spent a lot of time decorating our first 2. The first she painted with a bunch of iconography from our state and we planned to put off of a trail ...

Any yarn stores in EP?

1h ago

Would love to get back into knitting but all the big box stores pretty much only sell acrylic / plastic yarn. Looking for somewhere local but nothing is coming up on google. Any recs? I'll say same for fabric / quilting - Would much rather shop local but most places I've found are either upholstery or quince fabric.
