Sometimes I talk to my groceries as I'm bagging them

3h ago

Technically this isn't an actual shopping issue, but I was overthinking which flair to use, and here we are. My son was diagnosed a year ago, and I'm waiting to get a formal diagnosis myself, but my therapist says he's absolutely comfortable assuming I'll test positive. I've been going over all of the "odd" things that I've done over the years, and remembered a time a year ago at the store when I was bagging my groceries as quickly as possible, and talking to the items. Mostly "Oh, and can of Pineapple, you go with other non-persishables that goes into the basement pantry! Bread, you're going in the kitchen, so you can be with the bananas,&q...

Had a win today!

3h ago

I usually spend money everyday without thinking about it. However, we are in a very bad financial place right now so I have not been shopping at all for a few days. I realized today, that I am shopping for comfort as well as some compulsion. My son is ADHD and we had a bad morning with him. I totally felt my mood shift afterwards and I said, "I'm going to the store. I need to buy something." My nervous system was wrecked because of the yelling this morning and I never realized that shopping was kind of how I dealt with those things. I chose to not go shopping. I'm proud of myself!

mistreatment by job

so i worked at a very.. well known.. coffee shop for a few months last year before my conditioned worsened, it was already terrible but now im pretty much confined to the house so i had to quit, but when i was working it was an absolute nightmare. it started out with me asking for shorter shifts because i knew my limits at the time and they were 100% fine with it because they only needed part time and fill in work. i said that’s absolutely perfect. before i even started i got a note from my cardiologist excusing sudden absences or leaving early with increased breaks as needed. they were also fine and understanding about that. about 2 months into working we had a training manager coming int...

[Retail] In-person availability needs to improve.

3h ago

Sub $1000 brands like Seiko, Citizen, Casio, and Bulova, along with Tissot and Timex really need to improve their in-person retail availability because they have got so many more newer better designed models these days that are a bit more upmarket. Despite e-commerce and pandemic, people still want to shop in person. The old days of show-rooming a product and then buying online seem to have been curtailed by smarter brands, so I am not understanding the lack of in-person availability. In addition every time I go to the mall its packed, busier than pre-pandemic levels. Macy's, Nordstrom, and Bloomie's have so little beyond the department store ****. I live in an urban cente...

Price comparison

3h ago

Hi! I have previously been a Costco member but due to a few reasons, haven’t been for a few years. I’m trying to do a comparison on normal groceries for our family of 3 with 3 animals to see if it is worth it for us to sign up again. I have enough space to store everything so I’m not worried about that aspect. We live about 2 hours from our nearest Costco so won’t really benefit from the cheaper fuel. Is anyone able to share their recent receipts from their shops so I can do a little comparison? I’m mainly looking at meat, dairy and pantry items. Thank you!

New Online Shop for TCGs and Nerdy Stuff — Looking for Feedback

3h ago

\*\* New to redit, hope its cool to post this lol this isn't a promotional post or sales post, looking for feedback/suggestions/etc\*\* Hey everyone — I’m the owner of **The Nerd Store Atlanta**, a small online shop focused on trading card games and other nerdy interests. I started the store because I wanted to build a place where people could find cool things related to the hobbies we all enjoy. Right now the shop mainly focuses on **Magic: The Gathering singles**, with plans to expand into more TCG items, nerd apparel, and some book-related “bookish” products as we grow. I’m still in the early stages and would really appreciate any feedback from the community. If you have...

Grocery shopping

3h ago

So apparently WW was correct, all those years ago when they said you should be able to shop the outer portions of the stores. Produce, Meat, Dairy, Frozen. Sure enough, I don’t even go down many aisles, nothing processed and it feels so easy and nice to eat “clean” and to feel fulfilled! Thanks to Zep!!!!

Will stealing three dollars worth of garden seeds get me in trouble?

3h ago

So I just did something really ******. I needed to buy like 400 seeds for a university research assignment and I went to my local dollar store since they have cheap sunflower and corn seeds. I went there a few days ago to pick up seeds and I ended up coming back again today because I realized that I only had like half of what I needed. When I went in there the first time, I the brilliant idea to scan one seed package but then put two down. I didn't pay for about $2 worth of seeds. When I can back today, I did the same **** and realized after doing it twice that there was a camera pointed directly at my hands and I could literally see myself on a screen in front of me. This is the fir...

Looking for Gringotts Bank Set

3h ago

Shot in the dark here. I was unable to afford the Gringotts bank set before it retired and unfortunately now that it is I am in a position to buy it. It seems bricklink is selling it for upwards of 800 stateside and with tariffs and s&h being what they are now I assume the 350 in Hong Kong shops could push that 800 realm quite quickly. If anyone in the US is selling a set, knows of a store, or a method to get one around 500 dollars I would be very happy.

Jersey Purchase Question

3h ago

Yo! I’ve been rather disappointed with the fact that there has been no Randle City jersey in the online shop. Is that something I would be able to find if I went to a game, and bought it at a store? Anywhere else I could buy that? Am I just hosed?? Thanks!

Likely vintage paperback romance about female roommates and a character named Ives/ yves with eyes that are almost purpl...

I think the heroine’s name was Katherine (or Catherine). She moves to New York and lives with four female roommates — including roommates named Gloria and Helen. They are all sort of husband hunting . One roommate helps her get a job as a shop girl (possibly in a clothing store, maybe even modeling or selling clothes). She initially meets a wealthy man (I think his name was Yves or Ives — maybe pronounced like Yves).I think she sleeps with him. There’s a pivotal party scene later where her boyfriend (named something like David or Charles) humiliates her because She’s naive . She Ends up with the wealthy Ives. . The book had a painted illustration paperback cover, ...

Where is somewhere in the greater Seattle area that I can find affordable '90s clothes?

3h ago

I'm planning a '90s themed road trip to Portland this summer with some friends and we're looking to get some authentic or replica '90s attire to wear. Looking for recommendations for thrift shops, antique shops, or novelty clothing stores that can supply us without breaking the bank. Ideally we could construct an entire outfit for under $80. Thanks for any help you're able to offer

AITAH if I distance myself from my friend after he's outed me to his close circle for his own comfort?

4h ago

To start off, anything coming from a transphobic POV i will ignore. This is not meant to be a debate of my identity and whether or not it is moral. Sorry if this story is wordy, I'm new to reddit and like to overexplain myself. I (16m) am a transman. For background, I started questioning my identity around 8/9 years old and discovered the term *********** and all the micro-labels under it at 10. When I was 11, I came out to my mom as gender fluid. She told me to come to her when I was 16/17 if I still felt that way, and she'd, for lack of a better word, believe me. Many other things happened regarding my identity, such as I got outed 3 separate times (twice by counselor and a teac...

Urgghhhhhh

4h ago

I ordered food at 7:30pm. The dasher accepted the order a few mins later, drove to a near by hair store(this store is not on DoorDash) , shopped for 15 mins, drove to the restaurant(5mins away), sat there for 10 mins and then left. The app updated to say the dasher was on their way to the restaurant after they had already been there. They ended up going back to the restaurant and finally my food arrived at 8:34pm. Of course it was cold. This restaurant is 5 mins from my home. The dasher didn’t communicate or anything. Most of them do when they are delayed. The dashers name was a female name but a male delivered the food which I don’t care about but he ruined her rating and her extra tip ...

Painter of the South Shore: Part 1

4h ago

August 14th, 1936: Sarah and I are finally settling into our new house, which is a breath of fresh air. The past few weeks of living here have been rough, much rougher than we initially thought. We knew that moving this far from home was going to be a risk. Having to completely start anew, but with the price of the house we couldn't not jump at the chance, plus our old house was a dump to say the least. The people here are fine, quiet, but usually pretty polite for the most part. I've been into some of the stores here and the older folk seemed to be a bit rude, staring a little too long when I walked past, but hopefully they'll warm up in the coming weeks. Sarah is enjoying ...

Effect of tariffs on pricing

4h ago

For online and brick-and-mortar shops in the US, how much higher have prices of Japanese knives gone up by as a result of the tariffs? I read that the tariffs are currently 50%!? Have these tariff costs mostly been passed onto the consumers, or have they been shared by stores? Trying to see if I should buy a knife now, or wait a year when I'll be in Japan.
