I'm a manager at a cafe that serves the supernatural | It is important to count heads

2h ago

My name is Axel and I manage the Drowsy Spectre, a café positioned in a place that should get little business. Well, little human business, that is. But even our kind of clientele can become mundane once you figure it out. Wink at the store cat if she is staring at you for more than ten seconds, give the fly man **** (not literally, you’ve just got to make fun of him). Everything becomes somewhat normal only to be flipped when someone breaks the rules, or when something new comes by.   I would much prefer things stay mundane in a place like this. New customers are the most common offender. Sometimes, however, problems appear from seemingly thin air. If you have no idea what is going o...

Recipe app to Grocery Comparisons

2h ago

A few years ago I found an app that was like the gasbuddy for your grocery list. You add all the items you needed for your list and then you could compare it with local grocery stores. It would tell you where the cheapest place to get your whole order would be. Like, if you knew there was a major sale somewhere in an individual thing like steak or a turkey or something like that cool. This was for if you needed to get everything at one place. I can't find it and honestly Gemini doesn't know what I am talking about. The big thing was it was mainly a recipe website/ app, you could say add the ingredients in one button press... remove what you already have like condiments or milk bu...

Saving on Groceries

2h ago

hi! i'm curious - how do you all keep your grocery bills down? i feel like this is a category that i just can't seem to reign in. i work out a lot and have a packed schedule so i need to eat nutritious foods often that don't take super long to prepare. i usually spend \~$400-450 on groceries each month and around $100 on eating out. does anyone have tips? i've started shopping at aldi and lidl because prices are lower there than other stores around me, but i'm taking any advice y'all are willing to share!

how tf isn’t there a feature to stop this from happening

2h ago

I’m disabled so I can’t do my own grocery shopping and rely on DoorDash to get groceries for the week. I’m already spending more than an abled bodied person would spend but my dasher just randomly substituted toilet paper that costs $9 for a pack that costs $20 without asking me and won’t just refund it. I was already a bit tight on funds this week and many of the items I needed were out of stock meaning I was going to dash from a second store but now my budget is even tighter and idk if I should. how is there not a feature that stops dashers from adding random **** to the grocery order?? I don’t want to complain because ik it hurts the dashers scores but this is a huge inconvenien...

Idea: #buyfromEU and #leaveareview

One of Amazon’s biggest strengths is the volume of reviews they have. They make buying decisions easier and lower the risk of purchases, especially the expensive ones, of course. I just moved to a new apartment, and I have to buy many things, but I'm getting myself searching for products on my regional marketplace/store, and going to Amazon to see if the product exists there and checking the reviews. I guess that it's hard for everyone to buy something without reviews, even though I did buy a couple cheaper "unreviewed" things that are actually good from EU shops. **Because most of us here want to buy and support these companies, let's** ***#buyfromEU*** **and...

Eat, Shop, Pray: Observations from a February 2025 solo trip to Tokyo/Kyoto/Kumano.

2h ago

Some thoughts and observations, with my travel days outlined below: * Spending my first night close to the airport after a late arrival was really great - it meant I could get into bed and then also have a late start as the hotel had an 11am check-out. This was really helpful after a 20+ hour trip. It was also super fun having the robots to check-in! * Suica card on my iPhone made travelling around Tokyo, and Kyoto to some extent, super easy. Could also use it at Conbinis and some restuarants. * I bought my Shinkansen tickets a couple of days before I took the train. You can buy them on the day, but I was so happy to have mine bought when heading back to Tokyo - the snow caused delays acros...

Same style and size but different lengths. Poor quality control or new changes?

2h ago

Back in November I had decided to revisit Athelta as I stopped shopping there over the last few years. One of the things I had purchased was a pair Ultra High Rise Elation 7/8 leggings on November 14th. Yesterday January 22nd I picked up another exact pair of leggings that I had purchased in November. I had pulled them up on my app in store from my purchase history and they were pulled for me by a sales associate. I kept looking at them like they looked to be shorter but thought I was just over thinking it. I decided to lay them on top of my leggings purchased in November and sure enough they are completely different lengths. All the writing and tags appear to be the same. Does anyone happen...

Target needs to get on it ASAP

2h ago

I’m surprised target hasn’t hopped on the reusable shopping totes like other retailers such as Marshall’s, Trader Joe’s, Goodwill, etc. But with the plastic bag ban across some states in the US I really hope they do soon because I would love to see what designs they would come up with

Doris: A Personal AI Assistant

2h ago

I've been working for the past 2 months on a personal AI assistant called Doris for my family. It started as a fun hobby project and has evolved into something my household actually uses daily. Figured I'd share what I've built in case anyone's interested or working on something similar. \#What is it? Doris is a voice-first AI assistant that runs on a Mac Mini M4 Pro in my home. The main goal was to have something that: \- Actually knows my family (names, preferences, schedules) \- Remembers conversations across sessions \- Integrates with the services we already use (Apple ecosystem, Home Assistant, Gmail) \- Can be extended without rewriting everything \#How ...

Feeling at a crossroads

2h ago

So I’ve been on my journey for a while but I’m just a hobbyist, mostly play at home but get together with friends sporadically and have done the occasional gig. At Christmas this year I received a generous amount of gift cards to the local mom & pop music shop that I try to support. Thinking about what to do with them has me really questioning what direction I’d like to go in with my setup, and as I don’t really have anyone to talk with about it, I thought I’d see what Reddit has to say. I currently have a Marshall Origin 20W combo for my amp. Reasonably happy with this. My pedalboard is based around a NuX Cerberus multi-fx run in 4CM, supplemented with some additional ped...

Store reaction to shop lifting

2h ago

Used to work at Kmart for about a year. While working at the door, I saw the most sus thing. A customer had come in with a pram covered with a blanket. As she was 'shopping' I caught a brief glimpse of the inside and saw that she didn't have a child in there. I she was completely alone and I saw a few objects crammed in the main compartment. After going through the checkout, I asked her to step aside. I asked if I could search her pram, and could she please present a receipt. I lift the blanket and low and behold there is all of our merch. My manager at the time comes up to me and full on disciplines me in front of her saying that Ican't do what I just did. Actually, ...

Leading up to Steam Next Fest we're doing a multi-part series about the creation of Senpie! Senpie is a puzzle matching shop management game inspired by Yoshi for the NES. It's anime-themed, and filled with homages to some of our favorite shows. Poly FNPT to Pex-A fitting?

2h ago

I have low ph well water so trying to avoid brass pex fittings, why can I not find a poly version of a FNPT to Pex-A like I have pictured? I can find some swivel FNPT to Pex-B and I know I can crimp Pex-A but seems silly for just one connection. Are swivel connections more prone to leaks and is it safe to torque a poly FNPT fitting onto a metal MNPT? Thanks!
