When I was growing up we had both an Eckerd and a Rite Aid in town, but we always went to Eckerd for the deals. I still remember the JCPenney's catalog area beside the pharmacy. Order merch from the phone and it was delivered. The fact you could still use your JCP credit card there (and carried over to Rite Aid) always fascinated my grandma. Long story short, I found this retro train set at an antique store and could not pass up buying it. Definitely miss Exkerd / Rite Aid.

I start at JCPenney next Monday and I’m trying to get a realistic idea of what the first day and first week of orientation look like. I’ve worked retail before, but every company does things differently. If anyone can break down what usually happens—paperwork, training videos, store tours, dress code details, who I’ll be with, how long it usually runs—I’d really appreciate it. I’m also curious how much hands-on stuff they let you do during that first week versus how much is just watching training modules. Any insight from current or former JCPenney employees would help a ton.
