“Watercolor” Poinsettias

1d ago

I was at my local H-E-B grocery store and I saw what was being advertised as a watercolor poinsettia plant. The link is below. My question, is this a real type of poinsettia? Or is this just food coloring in the water to dye the leaves of a yellow poinsettia plant?

List of drama-free superchargers for non-Tesla vehicles in the United States

2d ago

Just a quick note: Tesla drivers have been very polite to me in real life. I just find blocking two spots to be very awkward when there is a line and prefer to have an alternative that doesn't involve having repeated polite conversations with every understanding Tesla driver who arrives after me. Also: yes, I'm aware of non-tesla fast chargers, I post a report of them once a month. Okay, moving on: "What is a drama-free supercharger?" A Tesla supercharger that: * Allows at least some non-Tesla vehicles to charge (with a NACS adapter, or with Magic Dock). * Has a long cord (a V4 supercharger). This means everyone should be able to charge their vehicle without taking up...

New to orchid care

3d ago

Hi everyone, My boyfriend recently got me an orchid from H-E-B, its a local grocery store here in Texas. It did not come with care instructions and this is my first time owning and caring for an orchid. I have no idea where to start. I found out that its a moth orchid which is a Phalaenopsis, I believe. I know *a little* bit about plant care. I hear that there's this "ice-cube trick" but its not right as it can shock the plant/roots and essentially kill it. I genuinely want the plant to live a long life and bloom in cycles. I've had the plant for about a week. I have not changed out the potting nor the potting mix. I want to get the right stuff but also I'm a co...

I found a parking buddy at my local H-E-B. We’re getting rain and have a tornado watch in effect.

Grocery store win today...

I found all these mostly on the front pegs today when I went to H.E.B... I've been looking for the Feline Lucky but the 1966 Triumph Tiger 100 was a nice surprise...

What’s ya’ll’s H-E-B?

12d ago

I’m wondering what, if any, grocery store people consider their ol’ reliable “everything store”? I recently moved here from Texas and don’t know what my best options are for grocery shopping because I used to buy everything from H-E-B (supplemented by Costco and Trader Joe’s). Where I’m from (1) your closest neighborhood grocery store is usually low volume/limited stock and you make the drive to “the big H-E-B” when you do serious grocery shopping and (2) the whole family of Kroger-owned grocery stores (to the extent that they existed in my area) are either subpar groceries, overpriced, or both. For context, I live near *Silver Lake/Echo Park* but I’m fine to drive ou...

Should I buy a car 18 years old living on own?

13d ago

Hello, I’m a 18-year-old that gets paid about 2600 and lives in an apartment that the rent cost $799 and my utilities are in total 200 and my grocery bill is 300 and I like to pay 20% into savings every paycheck I don’t payany insurance. My dad pays for that now that that’s out of the way let me give you a little bit of background I did not choose to move out at 18 years old, but I had to unfortunately luckily I was able to find a apartment pretty decently near my work so I’m only 30 minutes away, but it’s been kind of getting to me that I don’t have a car the job I’m at is H-E-B and there’s honestly really good opportunities to move up so I’m not looking for anything like ...

I drive a 2 door Mustang bruh

14d ago

Unfortunately, I didn’t see just how much it was until I arrived. After fighting with support for 30 minutes about whether there was any large items on the order, I had to call and spend 15 minutes on hold to get it cancelled and half pay. The customer thought it was coming through Favor, not DoorDash, like that changes anything. 2 32 packs of water, 4 cartons of soda, a carton of milk, and then 140 different items on top of all that. Please, for the love of God, stop placing entire grocery orders through DoorDash, customers don’t realize just how much stress and trouble with Dashers.

The Grocery Store Rodeo

14d ago

Walked into a Texas H-E-B to grab milk… walked out after witnessing a full-blown lasso chase through the parking lot because someone’s runaway steer slipped out of a trailer. Guy in flip-flops managed to rope it while holding a Big Gulp. **Only in the States.**

Which one and how long?

16d ago

So I've never smoked a brisket before and noticed these at my local grocery store. Should I do the point or the flat? I want which ever one would be more juicy and tender if that makes sense. Also, how long would it take to smoke one of these as opposed to doing a whole brisket? Thanks!

[Request] USA to USA - regional grocery store Mac & Cheese

16d ago

Hey everybody, My wife and I are currently attempting to try every boxed mac & cheese that we can find, with an updated spreadsheet as we go. Obviously we’re limited to what we have locally and what we can find when we travel. We’re currently up to ~50 different boxes in our pantry that we’re taste testing as we can, but would love to keep bringing in options that we don’t have near us. I found a Wikipedia page with a list of various regional grocery stores, and many of these have their own brand. If you happen to shop at any of these, we’d love to either do an exchange with you by sending you some of our regional options in return, or just paying you for the product and s...

Have you met, or do you know, anyone with a last name that is a body part?

16d ago

I know people with Head, Foote, Armstrong, and the other day at work encountered a Boob. I once received a misdirected email from someone in the military who was a Tongue. There's always Mr. Hand from Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Any others? Eta: Clearly there are a LOT of Butt families. In fact, I work for one in Texas, which I didn't even think to add to my original list. H-E-B, the largest grocery retailer in the state (aside from Wal Mart) was started by Florence Butt in 1905, and continued by her son Howard E. Butt (HEB). The Butts are still involved, but there's some private equity there, too.

First time “making” eggnog the proper way. Any rums better to use?

23d ago

I figured rum is more traditional than whiskey when spiking eggnog. Pretty sure it was spiked back in the day and then we just made a nonalcoholic. Either way is there anything better than the Appleton 12? There were only 5 to 6 ounces left in the eggnog bottle so I put in 1 ounce of Appleton 12. Wife approved and I approve as well you taste the rum/alcohol but still the creamy sweetness all the way through. I have a feeling this is going to be my drink until the holidays and I’m looking at you Thanksgiving and Christmas. For the past couple months, I was drinking nothing but hurricanes experimenting with different syrups and rums but now I want to perfect rum/eggnog. I am more than will...

20% tip given to the delivery driver that dropped off at incorrect location (second time) (H-E-B delivery)

23d ago

The first time this happened, I was told to include the name of my place so that they would know what the apartment complex was named. I used to do 25% in the HEB app because of living on the third floor, but it was manual so I was not sure if items were missing that it would deduct accordingly. Last time I did 25%, the person ended up dropping off the order at a place across the street. I should have known something was up when, even though I gave her the gate code, she still had trouble. So I got it redelivered, but I was **** and didn't know the tip wouldn't be transferred over so I sounded like a jerk to the (re-)delivery person because I didn't know the tip was only $5 ...
