I worked there until late July where I was put in foster care and I am now living on a ranch. ( won't specify more than that for privacy reasons.) My ranch director advised me to get a job while I'm here so I can make a little extra cash on top of my allowance so I can pay for gas for the car that he assigned me to and give me responsibility and things of that nature. I asked him about what if my parents who are fighting legal battles to get me back win and I'm at a job and then I go home, and how would a place want to hi... Post Mortem: First time turkey in oven was not great. Help me learn from my mistakes.1h agoThis was my first time cooking a turkey (\~11 pounds from the grocery store label) inside in the oven and it was a nightmare because the oven started smoking up within the first half hour. I had to periodically open the oven door to let smoke out and at one point even turned the oven off for a few minutes to calm things down. So the oven temps were ALL OVER the place. Eventually the meats reached the target temps but overall texture and quality weren't what I wanted. I spatchcocked my turkey yesterday, patted it dry and had it uncovered in the fridge overnight. Today I did another pat with paper towels (although skin was already very dry), softened herb butter underneath the skin and p... this game dead.1h agoPlan Your 2026 PCT with AI1h agoHere are 5 prompts that will get you started using AI to help your 2026 PCT planning, from initial strategy to fine-tuning your gear for each section. 1. “Provide a detailed list of all recommended resupply points for a northbound PCT hiker through Oregon, including the town name, approximate PCT mile, and available services (grocery store, post office, lodging)." 2. “Describe the key differences in resupply strategy and gear requirements between the desert (Southern California), Sierra Nevada, and Washington sections of the PCT.” 3. “Generate a comprehensive gear list for a PCT thru-hike, categorized by system (shelter, sleep, pack, etc.), and note which items are typically ... Where can I get affordable Koyla for BBQ in Chandigarh?1h agoHey folks, Planning a BBQ soon, but I noticed Koyla on Blinkit is quite pricey. Can anyone recommend stores or markets in Chandigarh where I can get good quality charcoal at reasonable rates? Doing nothing for Thanksgiving. When you're a NEET, every day is a holiday1h agoNo friends or family, so I am by myself. I've been NEET and friendless for 4 years. I am a bit annoyed that the grocery stores are closed early because I am craving some fruits and I didn't buy any this morning. I guess for most people this is their time off so they're happy, and then they have to go back to work tomorrow during black friday. Meanwhile for me, every day is a holiday. **** thanksgiving1h agoI can't stand my family. Mainly my mother I'm overstimulated and doing all of this cooking only for me to be told I'm doing everything wrong. We have a $700 spread on the table and every step of the way has been why are you doing it like this or why that. **** IF YOU WANT IT DONE YOUR WAY YOU GO TO THE ******* GROCERY STORE AND YOU COOK YOUR FOOD. ******* burnt my hands with too many chefs in the kitchen bc I'm being asked why I'm letting a $200 prime rib rest for 30 minutes instead of just diving into it. This Thanksgiving, thank the workers — not the sky1h agoJust a reminder for Thanksgiving: Don’t let people gloss over who actually made that table full of food possible. Every year someone pipes up with “We’d like to thank God for this lovely spread,” and honestly? Nah. Thank the American workers who get up insanely early, bust their asses, farm, ship, stock, cook, clean, and keep the entire supply chain moving. God didn’t grow the crops, load the trucks, or work a 10-hour shift at the grocery store. Real people did. When you give credit to some invisible sky boss, you’re literally stealing thunder from the folks who keep society running. This holiday, thank the workers. Thank labor. Thank the people who actually made your... Roma Third Kit - Xbox1h agoMad that a kit is worth more than a lot of players. Listing at 9,800-9,900 on Xbox for anyone that may want it. Cutting board cleanliness, sanitary practice on YouTube?1h agoI've been watching a good amount of cooking videos on YouTube in the past few years and learning a lot. But there is one thing that's been bugging me for awhile. It has to do with whether the cutting board sanitary practice I see on YouTube is... well, sanitary. And no, I'm not talking about cutting veggies before meat or what spray some of these influencers use for the in-between board cleaning (I saw that it's vinegar/water mix). I guess one commonality is that they all use their giant wooden cutting boards. Regardless, here are some of what I've noticed: * Putting non-food items on the cutting board (sauce bottles, etc.) and moving them on and off the board (e.... [AI software engineer] [bay area, ca] - $630K, stock awards1h ago26M, making about $630K each year working in the Bay Area started at Meta, $80K as an intern. **Spend: $20K/yr** Promoted to SWE, $200K. **Spend: $30k/yr** Today, with stock bonuses and salary, I'm earning $630K each year. **Spend: $100K/yr** I'm not sure if this is what golden handcuffs are, but my life has elevated significantly. I live alone, have a car, have three cats , and have over $1M saved up already. Feeling a little lost in terms of motivation but work to keep up the lifestyle (and give my cats the best life possible) How to keep my cat from eating the meat my mom gives her1h agoMy mom adopted a kitten for my birthday, shes 14 weeks now. When we got her, my mom stood on the fact we would give her muscle meat, coalfish and chicken liver from the actual meat section of the grocery store, instead of regular catfood. When looking into this, I found that this comes with serious risk of malnutrition and at the same time getting certain overdoses. Ive been buying dry food for my cat, but she barely touches it and seems to prefer the food my mom gives her (she finished 300 grams of dry food in 4 weeks). Im a minor and my mom doesnt let me interfere further in any way, she refuses to see a vet to get the kitten checked up or follow any advices, even though we live in the Net... Why does the US have such an obsession with the restaurant industry?2h agoPeople focus so much on ensuring servers are tipped, that they deserve a living wage, that their job is so difficult and they deserve a reward from the customer for doing that job People say if you are too cheap to tip stay home, logically that makes no sense cause then the business loses income and cant afford to keep people on staff People spread the lie that servers make less than min wage, saying they get around $2 and that because of this customers should help them, teachers dont get paid well but people arent telling parents to donate to the teachers, so why is there such a concern for server lives? Also no US citizen is making less than the state or federal min wage, no worker is go... What little human behaviors do you observe that bring you joy?2h agoI like to people watch and observe life’s little moments, imagining it from their point of view and telling myself little stories about them. I love when I see someone walk past a bakery while looking in the window, walk a few feet farther, pause, then turn around to grab a pastry — imagining that they were treating themselves after a rough start to the day. I smile when strangers at the grocery store help entertain a crying child in line and see the relief on the tired parent’s face, maybe the first moment’s peace they’ve had all day. I’m warmed when a young guy stops to help an elderly woman get her bags down from the overhead compartment, that he’s late for his connection ... I stopped losing money on online shopping2h agoLook, I know how this sounds. Another "just stop buying things" lecture, right? Nope. Because when you're stretching every dollar, sometimes ordering essentials online is literally the only option. No car? Online. Kids need school supplies at 11pm? Online. Best price on groceries? Probably online. Here's what clicked for me last month: I was buying stuff anyway - diapers, household basics, even groceries during a particularly rough week. Then my cousin mentioned she found out [how to earn cashback rewards from online shopping](https://app.shopback.com/wD0xHbqj7Wb). At first I rolled my eyes because it sounded like another "side hustle" that takes more time than... [27/11 Patch Notes]2h agoAnyone heard of the Samsonite Urbanix?2h agoI’m in Bangkok right now walking around a mall and see this beauty in a Samsonite store. 23.5L, coated polyester material, vertical luggage pass through, quick access top pocket, the whole nine yards. Looks and feels quality. Not sure how the coated material will hold up, and having to unlatch the compression straps to open the clamshell main panel may end up being annoying, but it looks like a **** of a bag. I included a photo from the store with some slings that are a part of the line. There’s a 30L pack as well that just comes in black. I learned that this is not being sold in the US market. So now I’m tempted to snag one….maybe another for a gift lol. Thoughts on the bag and Sa...
