Poor Helen

3h ago

"Poor Helen," says the young, pretty blonde nurse out of nowhere while filling small paper cups with pills. "What's so poor about her, Deb?" asks Susan, caught off guard by her sudden interest in the new tenant. "Well, it's just that her kids just dropped her off here yesterday." "So? How's that anything different from the rest of them?" "I don't know. She just seems so much brighter, more lively than the ones we normally get. You should have seen her begging not to be left here. She was ugly crying about helping with the grandkids and housework, but they weren't hearing it. Just turned around and left." "...

Magazines in Spanish

3h ago

Hi. Flying across the country to see my mom. She can’t get Spanish language magazines where she lives and is always happy when I bring them to her. I used to find them easily in San Jose Mexican grocery stores, but I won’t be going in that direction before my flight. I will be in Concord tomorrow. Does anyone know where I can find this? Thanks in advance.

This has happened a numberous times..

There is the DD driver in my area who always gets my order wrong. I have a disability so going to the grocery store is a nightmare. I order groceries, between 10-15 items tops from the store and it's always within 2 miles. I tip $10+ every time. I have consistently had this driver and I don't know why this keeps happening. I will order watermelon slices, 4 of them, at around 1lb. It's is clearly marked. There have been times where it says it's bought, but then it's not in the bag and I have 3 sodas instead. Or he'll refund it every time and I know the store has it. Or if there's a substitution, I put other options in there and he refunds anyway. If I messa...

So wanted to do something

3h ago

In a crowded grocery store parking lot this afternoon. There was a bank of EV charging stations along the far row. Probably 7 or 8 stalls. Only the first 2 were occupied. When I came out of the store, some jackwagon had parked his truck and boat/trailer combo...NOT an EV truck...across the all of the empty stalls. What a d&ckhead! I waited a few minutes to see if it was a superfast quick stop...it was not. I let the store manager know...but I was really tempted to just quietly remove the drain plug from his boat's transom.

Is it crazy to find any part time job in montreal as a student?

3h ago

Hi, 22, student, and i've been looking for a part time job to help my family a bit with MY tuition and rent. The search began on august and it's still ongoing, i submitted my cv in 100s different places, at some point i began tailoring my cvs based on the shops m trying to join. Nothing, not a single call from recruiters. And m not even under qualified, i worked at supermarkets, quincaillerie, gas stations, clothes stores... So i have quite the experience. So i really don't understand whether i am the problem, or the market is over saturated.

Getting clocked out without being told by my manager.

3h ago

Location: California I work at a retail/grocery store in which I am a keyholder. In January I began to notice I was being clocked out by my manager, not by me. I thought it was weird so I wrote it in my messages to myself. Then, in June of this year, I saw on the cameras after the fact that I was being clocked out by my manager and not being told but was working along with everyone else who didn't know they were clocked out for about 15 minutes. This happened 2 days in a row. I don't know about any other days, but those 2 for sure. I brought it up to my boss who talked to my manager and then me and said that it was a "miscommunication" and that everyone knew they were clo...

Been only gaining belly fat during dirty bulk

3h ago

Hello, I am a 17yr old 5'11 male who has been on a dirty bulk because I have been consistently skinny my entire life. The reason that I am on a dirty bulk instead of a clean one is simply because I still eat whatever mom gets from the grocery store (along with little things I'll buy myself). My goal is to eat 4000+ calories per day and I have not failed with my highest recorded day being 5380. I don't track protein as I already make sure to eat very high protein sources, such as my own mass building shake that I make. I started with a morning weight of 156 lbs, now up to 174, yet the only gains after 2.5 months I've noticed... are in my belly? I'm not even gaining fa...

Need wine recommendations

3h ago

Hi everyone! First time posting. I have been struggling to find a dry wine that I like, one that can easily be found at grocery stores such as Vons, Stater Bros, Ralphs, etc. I am looking for a dry wine. I typically like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio, but yesterday I bought a Sauvignon Blanc that was clearance, and boy was that a mistake 😂 I **** when they are super sugary and taste like juice. Makes my stomach hurt. Any suggestions? Trying to keep it under $20

Costco Pharmacist

3h ago

Seeing some postings in my area (Midwest) for Costco staff pharmacist and pharmacy manager. Is the grass really greener? Curious about staffing/hours, bonuses, raises, if central fill exists, is there high turnover? What is the corporate culture and is there a big focus on safety? Any other big perks like stock, free membership, discount? What is the vacation time like, what about paid holidays / holiday weeks? Do you tend to find yourself working more than your base hours? I read some past posts about 45 hour base so that would equate to $79-80/hr in my state (see rate chart attached with min and max salary range). Currently I’m a manager at a grocery store, $75/hr (market value in my ar...

WholeFoods Pink/Red Velvet Cake

3h ago

Hello :) WholeFoods grocery store used to sell red velvet cupcakes or a small cake (maybe 4/5 servings). I think that the cake used to be called pink velvet because they didn't use artificial dyes so it wasn't as vibrant of a red as some cakes are. It had cream cheese frosting and like crunchy ball candy or something on it. These were my favourite cakes and I used to get either the cupcake throughout my university semester whenever I completed a final project and then my housemates and I would get the cake version when we finished a year. They don't sell it anymore and I was wondering if anyone that worked in the bakery department or anything else that would know the recipe ...

Could I go to the cops for this? CALIFORNIA

3h ago

I was at the grocery store earlier today and as I was in the produce aisle looking at grapes I opened a box (this was not a sealed box, it was one of those plastic tubs that opens and closes) to see if the grapes were mushy or not. This man approached me and proceeded to berate me because he said he has no white blood cells and now he needs to double wash grapes which by the way he never ended up purchasing. As I didn’t want to engage I walked away with my basket to a different aisle which he proceeded to follow me to and watch me shop further. I immediately went to self check out to hurry and leave as I was now uncomfortable and on my way told the nearest employee that he was harassing me...

Share a slice of your journey or just ordinary daily van/motorhome life! Post a photo from wherever you are today or this week - or just tell us something about it! Could be a campsite, a park up, a border crossing, a random grocery store car park, or the view out your window while you’re making coffee. Bonus points if you add a note about where you are and what you’re up to so the rest of us can get a glimpse of your travels! If you don't want to share pics, you can just tell us :)

AITA for telling my brother-in-law if he wants help, he'll have to be respectful and understanding of others?

3h ago

My husband’s brother, “Horrace”, was in an accident about a year and a half ago. It lead him to require a lot of physical therapy and he now has limited mobility, requiring either a cane or wheelchair depending on the day. He’s had several surgeries. That being said, he’s been able to live alone for the past 6 months (previously living in a physical rehab center). He just can’t drive. My husband has been helping him out quite a bit, which I think is good. The issue we ran into was Horrace was calling him to do things during the day, when my husband was at work. These were all things that could wait, such as trips to the laundromat or market. My husband has a big heart and initial...

Why good ideas are a byproduct of structure

3h ago

Yesterday I wrote that good ideas don’t come from forcing effort — they appear naturally when the noise disappears. Today I want to explain why structure creates that effect. When there’s no frame, the mind tries to consider everything at once. That increases uncertainty, scatters thinking, and blocks ideas. Structure works because it narrows the field. It reduces cognitive load and gives your thinking a stable flow to follow. Inside that flow, ideas start to appear on their own. To make this clearer, here are two simple everyday examples — and how my own experience changed. 1. Grocery shopping Before: I used to walk into the store without a list. I’d keep asking myself, “Wh...
