Declining likes

2h ago

What do you do with likes you aren’t really interested in. Do you let them sit in queue or do you decline them. The reason I ask is declining made for some awkward experiences for me when I ran into two of the declined women, randomly irl. I’m sure I got recognized by these two likers. One at the grocery store and one at the gym. I pretended to be oblivious but I could feel a stare of vitriol from the one at the grocery store. Turns out she actually works there. She wasn’t smiling in her photos and she def wasn’t smiling in real life either. The one from the gym just stares. Sigh...

What is the next step? Trouble getting diagnosis.

2h ago

My mother in law has cognitive impairment that has become very apparent to everyone who interacts with her on any regular basis. (So much so a casual neighbor whose house she walks by once or twice a week flagged us down to make sure we knew.) Last year we moved her closer to us to help care for her, but she is in her own apartment. We took over bookkeeping for her finances as it was quickly apparent things were beyond her capability. (Luckily on this front she has been grateful more than resistant.) At the behest of her GP we took her for an MRI which showed no brain plaque (at least that we are aware of- she says test was clear but we can't access records) and then we took her for ...

For anyone who owns an Al-Fajr watch where did you find the best deal?

2h ago

I’m comparing prices for Al-Fajr watches and trying to understand why the cost varies so much online. Some Middle Eastern retailers seem to have the most consistent pricing, while European and African markets sometimes show huge jumps depending on the seller. I’m assuming part of it comes down to import taxes, but another factor seems to be inventory cycles. When demand spikes around Ramadan, prices on international marketplaces jump noticeably. While researching, I also came across bulk listings from wholesalers (including some aggregated on Alibaba) which might explain why certain stores can afford to sell them cheaper they’re working from wholesale stock rather than direct retail...

When an obsession looks “healthy”

2h ago

Hi all! I have been struggling this week in particular and I am not sure what to do.. back in July I started taking aerial silks classes just once a week (every Thursday) and I have been having so much fun! My strength has improved tremendously, I feel and look the most fit I have ever been and I’m making friends in class! Overall it has been a very positive experience. This week there are no classes due to the holiday and I am starting to panic. Like I struggle to do regular every day tasks because I know Thursday is going to be different now and leading up to Thursday just has me feeling discombobulated (for example I was at the grocery store and just stood there like a deer in head li...

Unmuted, Say So | Chapter 6: Everyday Evangelism

2h ago

# Chapter 6: Everyday Evangelism >***Everyday Evangelism*** *is critical to helping believers understand that their sharing the gospel isn’t reserved for church outreaches or mission trips—it’s woven into our daily lives, relationships, and rhythms. See your everyday conversations, routines, and interactions as* ***divine opportunities***\*. This chapter will be practical, Scripture-based, and encouraging, helping believers demystify evangelism and step into it with confidence.\* ***1 Peter 3:15*** ***^(NIV)*** * But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this ...

EverHint Signal — Momentum Swing: Breakout Standard — November 25, 2025

2h ago

* * * **What this strategy is (quick)** Momentum Swing — **Breakout Standard** looks for stocks already trending higher and now **surging out of tight bases** near their 52-week highs. Core idea: * Price is **within ~3% of 52-week high** , not far below it * Volume is **1.5×+ vs 20-day average** (strong participation) * Trend already in place, now getting **momentum confirmation** , not a first bounce off lows Typical use case: * **Category:** Breakout plays (momentum continuation) * **Holding period:** roughly **1–4 weeks** in a favorable tape * Best when broader market is **risk-on** with _falling_ volatility and healthy breadth This is an **experimental scanner...

ADHD and Autism at UofC: A Masterdoc on How to Survive

2h ago

I’m seeing a lot of people posting about being miserable in school, especially ADHD and autistic folks, and if anyone knows what that’s like it’s me. Like, almost died kind of thing. And I’m not going to watch anyone else go through that in the way I did, so please, take some of my advice: stop making yourself miserable. You can’t live miserable. If it makes you miserable, you are doing it wrong. It is possible to live a non-miserable life here at UCalgary and you will. So here’s how:   Most important: * Folks with ADHD, Autism or both are at way higher risk for anxiety, depression, and suicide. If you feel your chest start to feel heavy all the time, or start thinking about ...

Walmart pickup

2h ago

So I recently used the Walmart pickup option for the first time and they substituted my energy drinks for a smaller six pack (I authorized it as to get whatever they had.) Anyway, I ended up finding out that it was in stock according to the app so after I picked up my groceries I decided to walk in and see for myself and found the exact pack I was looking for. Little peeved at the fact that the person that shopped for me was just too lazy to walk one aisle over and check instead of substituting what I wanted. For reference I live about 30-45 minutes away from the closest grocery store and I get the big packs to avoid going back and they switched it with a little 6 pack with smaller cans. Def...

Had a cortizone injection for a neuroma in my foot

2h ago

Today I had an injection in my foot at 10 a.m. the doctor said I could go back to work tomorrow which is a standing/ walking job in a grocery store. Its a little tender obviously. Is this normal to go back to work so soon? Seems a bit quick. Anyone have any experience with this?

Why can’t I negotiate at Walmart/apple store like I do at a car dealership

I feel like I should get a discount on my groceries. Or even my iPhone. Why can’t i take my android phone quote to a iPhone store and have them match the price

The Little Meadow

2h ago

My teacher was an elderly man with glasses, the author of forty-five novels. “You’re a real Balzac,” I couldn’t help saying. “I’m still far from Balzac,” he smiled. I asked an awkward question: “Where do you get such lively dialogues? You don’t feed the reader dry words, but meat—real conversations that you can’t tear yourself away from.” “And the bone?” he asked. “The bone is the description of the setting, the circumstances, the sketches.” “Correct,” the teacher nodded. I gathered my courage: “But tell me, how do you make people open their mouths? You listen to them in cafeterias, at markets, in teahouses, even in basements with drifters. When they s...

Eventually have to go to community college classes in person…

2h ago

Hi all. I don’t know if I fully qualify to be in this community but I really need some advice and I don’t know where else to go. I think I’m more of a hermit than an agoraphobe. I’m way too comfortable at home, it’s where I am and have been 99% of my life (literally leave the house once or twice a month), and I don’t feel remotely comfortable or at ease when I’m not at home. It’s also just so mentally and physically draining to be anywhere but home, and anytime I do leave the house I usually get migraines. Fear wise, I’m not scared of leaving my house per-say, but I am really scared of certain public places. There are some places that I’m okay with going to even though ...

Best place to buy a Thanksgiving pie in OC?

2h ago

Hey all, I’m in charge of bringing a pie to Thanksgiving dinner this year, and I’ll be honest… I’m not a pie expert at all. I just want to show up with something legit that’ll impress the hosts and won’t taste like I grabbed it last-minute from a random grocery store. For anyone in Orange County, where should I go? I’m open to any type (apple, pecan, pumpkin, whatever) as long as it’s high-quality and actually good. Ideally somewhere that people here would consider a “go-to” for Thanksgiving pies. Any recommendations would be massively appreciated.

Cooler backpack vs insulated backpack: which is better?

2h ago

When you're trying to keep your food and drinks cold on the go, you might wonder what the difference is between a cooler backpack and an insulated backpack. Both sound pretty similar, right? Let's break it down so you can figure out which one works best for your needs. ## What's the Real Difference? Here's the thing – most people use these terms to mean the same thing. Both types are designed to keep your stuff cold (or hot) for a few hours. They both have insulated walls that trap temperature inside. The main difference comes down to how well they work. A proper cooler backpack usually has thicker insulation, better sealing, and can keep ice frozen for longer period...

Parents of autistic kids — I finally wrote the book I wish I had years ago

2h ago

I’m a dad of 8, and my youngest has Level 3 autism. For years, our nights were brutal — constant waking, meltdowns, zero rest, and honestly a level of exhaustion that starts to break you down mentally and physically. I tried everything. Therapies, specialists, diets, supplements… you name it. Some things helped, some didn’t, and a lot of the online advice felt unrealistic for what we were dealing with day to day. Over the last few years, I started documenting what actually worked for us. What helped us go from “no one is sleeping” to giving our daughter enough calm, comfort, and regulation to get 5–6 consistent hours a night (which any parent in this world knows feels like wi...

Clothes iron as bacon press?

2h ago

Okay, I freely admit this is **** but would one of these old clothes irons work as a bacon press? I mean, I'd clean it up and season it first, obviously but...it should work, shouldn't it? I see a lot of them in antique stores and flea markets and I always wonder if they can be repurposed for something else (well, other than a doorstop). https://preview.redd.it/mdnl2d9sfi3g1.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=83b79ea198c7fe369960bea4f05923f2d7e2552e

My blender broke.

2h ago

A couple of weeks ago I bought a blender at an estate sale. It looked nice and of good quality, made of glass. My horrible procrastination never took out of my truck and brought it in. After work today I stopped by the grocery store to get a few things for Thanksgiving. I wasn't going to because I had a long day at work but I made myself. So I get home and as I'm taking the bags out, one of the bags hit the blender and fell into the pavement. Breaking into many pieces. I never got to use it. I slammed the door. Rushed into my apartment, threw the groceries on the counter and sat on my couch and cried. That was it. Considering I'm sleep deprived and so utterly stressed fr...
