We're way overdue for more food options that aren’t burgers, chicken, or BBQ. Don’t get me wrong, I love Whataburger and all the local joints—but sometimes you just want a taco johns taco at 11 PM that won’t break the bank. Closest one is hours away, and it makes no sense. We’ve got a decent population, lots of through-traffic from 59/69, and plenty of spots where aTaco johns could do well. If Nacogdoches can get new chains popping up, why not us? Anyone else agree? Or am I just hungry and dreaming? Lufkin, TX seriously needs a Del Taco1d agoI don’t know who needs to hear this, but Lufkin needs a Del Taco. We're way overdue for more food options that aren’t burgers, chicken, or BBQ. Don’t get me wrong, I love Whataburger and all the local joints—but sometimes you just want a Del Taco burrito at 11 PM that won’t break the bank. Closest one is hours away, and it makes no sense. We’ve got a decent population, lots of through-traffic from 59/69, and plenty of spots where a Del Taco could do well. If Nacogdoches can get new chains popping up, why not us? Anyone else agree? Taste of Texas care package12d agoMy sister recently moved out of state and is missing Texas Sweet Tea. We want to make a "Taste of Texas" box for her and a few items to share with her new out of state friends. However, she is a really picky eater and can't cook 🤣. I mean she likes absolutely no condiments and only eats the chicken strips at Whataburger. We are packing tortillas and the sweet tea. We also want to stop by H-E-B, Whataburger and Buc-ee's to pick up some items. Any ideas of what we should pick up. If anyone had ideas for things other than food, we're open to those ideas too. Two for one: Tyson Chicken Fries & Checkers/Rally’s Cheesy Potato Bites67d agoAnother weird (to me) food I found, this time at my local Dollar General. I don’t think we have a Checkers or Rally’s in Texas. If we do I’ve never seen it! So I can’t compare it to the real thing unfortunately. But I can make a review! Both have been done in the AIR FRYER! (I’ll review another microwave meal soon) Let’s do TWO FOR ONE if you never had Tyson’s chicken fries. 10/10 easy. Dip em in Whataburger ketchup. (I’m biased) Okay back to the potatoes. 10/10 too! They’re cheesy and perfectly seasoned. Just gooey right from the fryer, let it sit for a bit and it’s crispier. I’m blown away honestly. New Fast Food Restaurant77d agoIf anyone was wondering. I found out today what the new fast food restaurant that's being built next-door to Whataburger on George Bush and Renner is. It's going to be a Mike's Chicken. I've never heard of it before, but apparently it's locally owned hand-battered fried chicken, tenders, wings, sandwiches, etc.. Sounds delicious! Thoughts?? Boycott these places! Part one!84d agoI’m hoping to do more of these postings to help others looking to change their places of patronage and also fine-tuning lists such as this to be more accurate in accoradance to PAC/politician contributions, workforce support (benefits and unionization), and other measures to grade who and where we do business with; some may be shocked to learn where their money is going. #themoreyouknow #buyerbeware If there isn’t a listing on here from GUU or OpenSecrets and you wish to add to the list, do so using the “Worst, Okay, and Better” categories with their parent company (if any) so we can greatly improve these lists—so without further delay, let’s dive into U.S. fast food chains: ... Like, yeah, they’ve got Sonic, but that’s pretty much where the similarities end. Honestly, PNW doesn’t even have a food identity. What I really miss is Braum’s. Nothing up here even comes close. That Chicken Strip Dinner Combo #10, with the crinkle fries and that cup of gravy that’s basically the MVP. Then I found out they're selling branded tumblers? People here keep hyping up Burgerville, or millennial burger joints, but nah, it doesn’t hit the same. Oh, and no Whataburger either. Double the heartbreak. If anyone back in Oklahoma happens ... I think y'all really overhyped the Mushroom Swiss burger119d agoSince I started reading this subreddit two years ago all I have heard is Mushroom Swiss this, Mushroom Swiss that so was expecting something pretty good. Finally got one today and meh I don't think it's anywhere near as good as the Monterey Melt it just replaced. I love the sauce, that's outstanding, but the mushrooms were kind of flavorless. Maybe having actual Swiss cheese could have saved it instead of what seemed like American cheese minus the yellow food coloring. The sauce is good enough I'll definitely give it a second chance with the mushrooms subbed out for a grip of grilled onions. Still not a burger I'd send back or anything, but I'd put it on the low... Tophia has zero gratitude127d agoI find it baffling that Tophia hasn’t shared a single update about her mom’s condition—yet we’ve heard countless updates about useless celeb drama like Kristen Chenowirz and how Tophia has been spending the donation money on Temu junk and “chomping on” an endless stream of delivery orders: “finger-licking” BBQ ribs, Taco Bell, McDonald’s, Burger King, Whataburger, cheesesteaks, Long John Silver’s, fried chicken, and more (Yes, she’s actually mentioned ordering all of these since the accident). No updates on Donald’s funeral arrangements either, assuming there’s even enough money left after the fast food delivery orders, motel costs, and Temu junk. What’s even ... Tips for eating fast food while losing weight159d agoI love fast food and eat it several times a week. Yeah, cooking for yourself is healthier and cheaper, but it's hard to beat the convenience, and you can't really replicate certain favorites from home. And you can make weight-conscious choices even while eating out often. I've lost almost 30 lbs in the last 5 months, yet fast food has stayed a cornerstone of my diet. If I want fast food one day, I just plan my day around it so I don't exceed my calorie target. Some tips I have to trim calorie counts on fast food meals: * Skip the combo and get just the entree. It saves you a couple of bucks, and most of the time the side is fries, which is very heavy in calories. If you... Planning out my future meals159d agoI recently woke up panicking cause I thought I ruined everything. I dreamt I ran into a gas station and ordered from a food court they had, and thought I messed up this whole procedure for popcorn chicken and a fried burrito. 🤣 I keep getting hit with recipe videos on YouTube and social media. I was sleeved on 02/19/2025, and currently in the liquid stage. My follow up is on the 4th, and I’m hoping they’ll let me move on to soft foods/purees. I’ve been daydreaming about what I could make. Probably not healthy, but it gives me something to look forward to. I miss the obvious things, like a McDonald’s hash brown or a Whataburger chicken sandwich and fries; but I miss small things ... I am French and in Dallas airport terminal D, what should I eat?160d agoAll the fast food chains here are new to me. I went to chick-fil-a and got the 12ct grilled chicken, and it was good. Ideally I need something with high protein, I usually eat healthy but since I am in the USA for a few hours I figure when in Rome… I have another 4 hours and see Applebees, Whataburger, Buffalo Wild Wings, Pinkberry, Hickory BBQ, Flying Saucer, Dickeys BBQ pit, Cantina Laredo I’m thinking of calling the shelter to tell them not to let my husband adopt168d agoMe (22f) and my husband (24m) have recently done a foster to adopt program. We have a three year old lab/pitbull mix who we are fostering to adopt. We also have a 6/7 year old small dog (not sure his breed) and a three year old tabby cat. This dog is big. My husband works night shift, and for medical reasons I cannot work outside of the home. We have only had this dog for four days, and I am ready to tell the shelter to not let my husband adopt this dog. I have been tripped, I have been dragged, I have been knocked over, I was putting a casserole in the oven yesterday and he came along and nudge the oven door, closing it and catching my hands. My husband says we’re keeping him, and that I... Just got called “mom” by a stranger.170d agoWeird interaction I want to share but don’t really know where to post. I (f39) went to Whataburger for lunch. Ordered at the drive through and they had me pull around into their outer lane. Young female worker comes to my car to take my money. Her: hey mom, did you have the chicken strip combo? Me: …. Um, yes? Money is exchanged, she goes back inside. I sit waiting, wondering if she said “ma’am” with an accent? She comes back, hands me food and drink. Her: Here you go, mom! Have a great day! Me: … th-thank you…?? Reader, she did not have an accent any different than my own. It was a definite “mom” two times. Wtf? For context, I am a mom. My kid was in school, ... 🛡︠Content Safety: All discussions are automatically filtered for inappropriate content to ensure a safe browsing experience. |
