I’m a 27-year-old guy based in the U.S. I work in a shop that sells books and records, which means I spend a lot of time alphabetizing things and having strong opinions about album covers. When I’m not there, I like making stuff with my hand. I enjoy making poor paintings, writing short poems that mostly stay in notebooks on my shelf, knitting uneven scarves and trying to keep plants alive in my garden (mixed results). I’m into wandering conversations and finding small joys where you don’t expect them, meaning you don’t have to share any of my interests. I expect nothing at all of you except that you put some effort into introductions and conversations, and that you are... Just thought it was funny how often this has happened) Earth Grown Vegan meals6h agoMany loyal Aldi goers (myself included) generally have that “I can’t leave the store without it“ item each time we visit. These are mine! These shelf-stable prepackaged meals make such an incredible lunch or dinner — they’re filling, packed with protein, take just a minute to heat up, contain relatively clean ingredients, are pretty low-calorie, and are absolutely delicious! 😋 I’m not a vegan, so sometimes I do add a little bit of chicken or extra veggies to bulk it up a bit. The Southwest Burrito Bowl has been a staple in my pantry for a long time, but tonight was the first time I tried the Pad Thai: incredible spice and amazing taste. Definitely my “go to“ Aldi ite... Best restaurant for vegans and pescatarians6h agoI’ve got some friends visiting briefly and we’re planning to go out to dinner on Monday. I’m big into the food scene here but they’ve got dietary restrictions. What’s a cute restaurant that will accommodate both vegans and pescatarians? I think we’re gonna go out to the Shelburne farms inn for drinks before, so if there’s a spot out there, that would be ideal! Merkamo - Brick Lane. This vegan interpretation of the beloved Ashkenazi classic preserves everything I cherish about "Jewish penicillin": the golden clarity of a vegetable broth shimmering with carrot coins and celery, the gentle lift of matzo balls that yield to a spoon with a delicate crack, and the perfume of fresh dill that transports me to holiday tables and cozy Sunday afternoons. With a whisper of turmeric lending sunshine to the bowl and cold seltzer ensuring cloud-like ... CMV: Italian cuisine has more variety, influence, and refinement than Romanian cuisine6h agoI want to clarify that I do not think Romanian food is bad. I actually like a lot of Romanian dishes, especially sarmale, mici, ciorbă, mămăligă, cozonac, and papanăși. Romanian food is hearty, comforting, and very good in a home cooked or traditional setting. But if I am comparing the two cuisines overall, I think Italian cuisine is stronger. My main argument is that Italian cuisine has more variety, more regional depth, and a better balance between simplicity and refinement. Different parts of Italy have very distinct food identities: Neapolitan pizza, Roman pasta dishes, Sicilian seafood and desserts, Tuscan stews, northern risottos, Emilia-Romagna pasta and cured meats, and so on... I gave an AI coding agent a structured execution framework and let it iterate for dozens of rounds. The long-task stabil...6h agoI've been experimenting with long-horizon AI agent workflows recently, mostly focused on execution stability during large multi-step engineering tasks. What I noticed is that most coding agents don't actually fail because they lack coding ability. They fail because execution slowly drifts during long tasks. After enough iterations, things usually start breaking: * architecture becomes unstable * systems stop connecting cleanly * gameplay logic drifts * patches create new bugs * runtime behavior becomes inconsistent * the model starts patching instead of engineering * "it runs" becomes mistaken for "it's complete" So I started testing a heavily structur... Second Chance Fast Food Reviews - Freebird's, Steak n' Shake, Wayback Burger6h agoI have been reviewing a different fast food/fast casual restaurant every day for the past 200 days, and earlier I reviewed the following three restaurants. However, these three received "poor" scores for one reason or another, but based on previous experience and visits I knew they could do better. Perhaps it was an "off day", perhaps it was the specific item I ordered. In any case, here are some "second chance" reviews, where I am re-visiting the chain, to see if it can redeem itself and earn a higher score. \-- **13. Update on my sister (Not good)6h agoso based on the comments last time, i decided to talk to her dad and talk to her. She said she had no intentions to actually do it, she just felt like it in the moment. And i deleted discord off her tablet, so hopefully it doesn't happen again. I guess the title was a bit of clickbait there because she is doing good, the bad news is with my mom though. I told her i got my sister's dad involved because i was worried and she yelled at me. She said it wasn't my business about what my sister is doing, and i shouldnt "stress her out with my anxiety". i told my mom she is wrong and that a suicidal 9 yr old is to be taken seriously... WTF? I got my phone taken away for ... Advice/Tips/speculation on redoing current backyard?6h agoCurrently planning on renovating this yard a bit. I havent cut it this year and just let it grow a bit to see exactly whats growing. I wanna just make most of it grass. Basically everything in every image I want to make grass except the garden are thats enclosed by that barrier. For that I want to just make the garden smaller. A lot of the back seems to be a lot of clay. Located in Toronto. My current plan/thought process is to simply clean out debris like rocks and sticks and then mow it all as short as I can with my lawnmower. Then get some type of herbicide to kill off most of whats there now (or at least most of the weeds and stuff thats not grass), then rent a tiller and give it a goo...
