Latest Comments & Reviews & Feedback & Social Media Sharing of the Vegan Foods Latest Community Discussions About Vegan FoodsOn The Road to Reversal3h agoEighteen months ago my A1c was over 11 percent. In six months was able to lower it to 5.3%, and today it's 5.1%. I adopted a moderate carb, whole food plant-based diet and overhauled just about every other aspect of my lifestyle to restore my health. I spent the last year without health insurance, which forced me to take responsibility for my own outcomes. Now that I have coverage again, I am meeting my new primary care provider next week. I got my labs in advance so we can collaborate on a clear plan to taper off Metformin and start the next stage of my health journey. My ultimate goal is complete remission, regardless of whether skeptics believe reversal is even possible. I'll... If you think that welfarism is more effective than veganism, you're a welfarist3h agoRestaurants that don't serve beige foods?3h agoI'm not sure what's been happening lately but it seems like every single place I've seen pop up in the past six to eight months has been a burger joint or a diner or like a bar that happens to serve beige foods like fried chicken or bougie "adult" mac 'n cheese or steak. Don't get me wrong I like steak and pizza too! But I also like to see a vegetable. I like brunch places with (gasp!) avocados. I'm pretty adventurous so I'm down to try less common cuisine as well... If anyone has any recommendations (or a great recipe to swap with me) please let me know, thanks! Vibecoded a GI app [poop emoji]3h agoThis is my first time posting here. I vibecoded an app for users with gastrointestinal symptoms - bloating, abd pain, nausea, etc, and bowel habits, along with food items/intake, and mood, water, and connects with apple healthkit to pull in sleep and exercise data. The goal was to build something that can help these users create associations between food triggers and symptoms, and provide some lifestyle advise and education for common GI conditions, behavioral techniques, etc. I am a gastroenterologist by trade so i did this based on a sense that the existing apps weren't all that easy to use? Of course, we are entering the era of tele doc , where companies are integrating dietitians,... Vegan diets are more affordable than meat eating diets3h agoAnti vegans often portray vegan diets as for the privileged. They believe that those that can’t afford the vegan options and must focus on survival which means eating animals. Reality is the other way around. Having the resources to eat animals is a position of economic privilege in the first world. There are a few points of confusion: 1. Falsely equating ultra processed vegan alternatives with animal based Whole Foods. Vegan diets do not require processed foods. I eat mostly unprocessed or lightly processed foods. 2. Falsely equating restaurant uncharges with the cost to be vegan. Going to restaurants is rarely a necessary cost if you are not privileged. 3. Incorrectly assuming vegan... Refund denied but never informed until I called over a week later3h agoThe nightmare of DoorDash only ever seems to get worse. After reading several posts on here and now having my own horror story experience, I thought I'd share mine. Last Sunday I placed an order through DoorDash as a mean to celebrate my first week at my new job. I don't order from restaurants often, instead cooking all my meals as it's cheaper, so ordering delivery for a delicious burger, fries, cookie, and a drink was something special. My Dasher driver reached the restaurant and took a photo of the order being picked up to upload, which I should have checked that photo as it disappeared once they uploaded the photo showing my order was dropped off at my front door. I saw ... Are muslims becoming too demanding/intrusive in non-muslim countries?3h agoAs I've mentioned in my previous post a few months ago, I really wanted to talk about this topic considering it's quite relevant and the most talked about theme for the past years. Especially here in the West and who knows other places. **Please understand that this is just my take, views, and opinion. This is strictly how I perceive it to be. Agree to disagree, I don't mind. Just be civil, and understanding of my take is all I'm asking.** I live in Europe, and as much as I do sense some challenges here and there as a visible muslim woman, I feel like the way some Muslims here live is drastically different from how Muslims are in the Anglo-Saxon countries (minus the UK)... I built a free searchable edible plant database with 20,000+ species (works offline too!)3h agoHey r/foraging! _asked the mods for approval to post this_ I wanted to share a little passion project I've been working on that I think some of you might find useful. A while back I came across [this post](https://reddit.com/r/preppers/comments/iedq94/catalogue_of_all_the_worlds_edible_plants/) looking for a comprehensive edible plant database to add to my offline library. It was exactly what I was after, but the download links were all dead (5-year old post) The original source is a researcher named Bruce French, who has spent decades cataloguing edible plants from around the world. He still maintains his database at [foodplantsinternational.com](https://foodplantsinternational.com... Photosynthesis, chemosynthesis or both?3h agoWhen it comes to creating a base for plantlife on a planet, what are the pros and the cons of either? Could they coexist in the same environment or there's only a place for one in each? I've come to this plant dilemma in my worldbuilding as conditions on that little planet of mine don't seem good for photosynthetic plantlife yet it's not impossible either. How to Tell If Childhood Emotional Neglect Is Why You Still Feel "Off": 8 Science-Backed Signs3h agoOkay, real talk. If you constantly feel like something's missing but can't quite put your finger on it, you're not broken. You might be dealing with the aftermath of childhood emotional neglect, and honestly, most people don't even realize it. I've spent months diving into research, books, therapy podcasts, and expert interviews on this topic because I kept seeing the same patterns in people around me. Like, so many high-functioning adults who seem fine on the outside but are secretly struggling with self-worth, relationships, and emotional regulation. After reading *Running on Empty* by Dr. Jonice Webb (clinical psychologist with 30+ years of experience, this... Her Sugar Daddy, My Fiancé (link?)3h agoChapter 1 At the end of the year, during the massive military reorganization and personnel reduction, my name was placed on the transfer list. While browsing job postings online, I came across a thread titled: \[What job makes the most money for women after leaving the service?\] The top-liked reply read: \[Why look for a job? Just find yourself a provider!! Mine is a military officer. He gives me so much money each month I can’t even spend it all.\] \[He remembers everything I like, tracks my cycle, the only problem is he has way too much stamina.\] \[He comes at me several times a night, I can barely walk the next morning. But ****, that body? Unreal.\] Someone mocked her: \[She... I built a tool to help me stop throwing away random ingredients every Sunday night.3h agoHey r/sideproject, I wanted to share a project I've been working on called FlavorCompass. The idea came from a recurring Sunday night frustration: staring at a fridge full of random bits (half an onion, a random jar of pesto, the last of the spinach) and ending up just ordering takeout because I couldn't figure out a recipe. It's an iOS app that uses AI. You point your camera at what you've got, and it identifies the ingredients and generates a few optimized recipe options. Key features: - Photo scanning for ingredients (no manual typing). - Focus on "leftover synergy" - specifically finding recipes that use up those annoying half-used items. - Modern, minim... Food is best stored in your neighbor’s stomach—not controlled by your religion (Trevor Lee, Governor Cox, and Mike L...3h agoI want to tell a story. It starts in Utah, where kids go hungry at school. Not occasionally. Every day. No breakfast. No lunch. Their bellies are empty while seminary buildings stand on school grounds, teaching obedience, tithing, and loyalty to a religion that claims to care—but does nothing to feed them. I think about Gavin Peterson, a boy who suffered from severe malnutrition and died tragically because the systems around him failed. His death wasn’t just an accident—it was a warning sign. A glimpse into a world where resources are hoarded, mismanaged, or funneled into optics and influence instead of actual human need. The church isn’t just a faith community. It’s a resource e... Rocket Fueling Automation Question3h agoI'm trying to figure out how to automate multiple fuel pumps. I have a working one (small circuit on the left of ribbon) which sends fuel once the rocket lands. It's timed specifically to allow the metered fuel to reach the engine before sending the all-clear. Now, I am trying to do the same for a rocket that can hold up to 1800kg of fuel. The problem is, each meter caps at 500, so, I have a few. They work great when called on demand by me, when reset. Automation is more of a challenge with multiple. The clunky, and probably over-engineered, circuit will get a signal from a landing, hit an edge detector to pulse the resets on the fuel meters. I can select which ones to enable for... Betta fish tail okay?3h agoHi, I purchased this Betta last Friday. He has less coloring on his tail and fins at the time. I have since been feeding him frozen Blood Worms, Frozen Brine Shrimp, pellets for Bettas and a tiny bit of Betta flake food. Feed him once a day. I have him in a planted 5 gallon tank with a few cherry shrimp. The tank was set up originally as a hospital tank since last year as I have a 50 gallon community tank and a 20 gallon shrimp tank which I added another Betta about a month ago. Since all seem healthy I was tired of seeing nothing in this tank for months and do not plan to add to my 50 or 20 gallon tanks, so put in some extra plants I had from the other two tanks and the shrimp from th... [GA] - Madison, WI - $0 - Two Cory catfish, Two comets, plants, supplies3h agoI’m looking for someone to take on and rehome my 4 fish. I currently am not able to provide them with a better aquarium, so if someone could take them from me and give them a home they deserve, it would be deeply appreciated. Any plants, decor, and food I have, you can have instead. [Real] (3/10/26) Positivity Journal3h agoToday was a vacation day from work and I'm so glad I did it. The weather was gorgeous and I took a little drive, completed an important errand, then stopped off at a store and bought some new dresses and earrings, and listened to a playlist on Spotify that I had not listened to before. The music was a little bit of an unusual style for me, but it was nice to listen to something different. Last night, my husband had put on some contemporary ballet on YouTube - not because he was interested in it, but because the thumbnail hooked him. But once he was playing it, I was the one who was hooked. I just remembered it today because he offered to put on another video of that type for me be... Supplement that may help some small number of people4h agoHope this doesn't break the rules. Obviously consult a doctor first before taking any advice you read online. This may help a small percent of people based on their triggers. Definitely not everyone, not even most, but if even one or two people are like me, it's worth it. If your triggers are smells, weather, visual stimuli, or stress, this will not apply to you. It gives me maybe a 10-20% reduction in symtpoms, more the sooner I take it. So I've suspected my migraines are triggered by foods high in histamines, but my triggers do not perfectly follow a high histamine diet. I.e. I can have canned fish, chocolate and cheddar cheese, but many other triggers are high in hist... ğŸ›¡ï¸ Content Safety: All discussions are automatically filtered for inappropriate content to ensure a safe browsing experience. |
