Manufacturing should be bottlenecked by skilled artisans, not buildings or population

33m ago

The current EU5 economy appears to treat early modern industry as simply building more workshops. As a result, it's not only easy to exponentially grow your economy base, but you actually get to the point of massive overproduction of fine cloth, glass and books in every markets from 15-16th century. This leads to ahistorical market saturation and renders trade irrelevant. In the 14th-17th century timeframe, specialized artisanship should be a scarce, immobile resource that took generations to cultivate. Historically, Castille possessed Merino wool but exported the vast majority of it to Flanders and England, importing finished cloth in return. Why didn't Spanish monarchs just bu...

Cooking and Nutrition course

34m ago

Last year, I became a licensed Food for Life instructor, and I absolutely love teaching classes for friends and neighbours. Food for Life classes are essentially cooking classes created by the doctors at the PCRM (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine) to promote healthy eating in the communities. Each class features: * A short nutrition video from one of PCRM's health professionals * A mini quiz, to help us memorise the key points from the video * A friendly Q&A where we can share tips and challenges of healthy eating. * A cooking demo of recipes created by the dietitians at PCRM. * The class ends with sampling the food we've prepared 😋 Each participant goes...

Random Madness - Food January 20, 2026

34m ago

Hey Fit People, So I went to the doctor yesterday, and found out that I have bronchitis (again) and quite possibly a sinus infection (again). So once again I'm on heavy duty antibiotics. As a result of being continually sick for the last few months, my blood sugars have been high an I haven't been able to do my intermittent fasting BUT I've been trying to eat well. Here is something I made a few days ago... I'll also provide the recipe video in the post. This is from TT from foodwithdaniel and is a Gochujang-Miso soup... except I had to make a few substitutions. https://preview.redd.it/4lafua12xxeg1.png?width=1196&format=png&auto=webp&s=d9bd2c0...

trying to recreate this vibe with MAC - need help picking the right products

35m ago

okay so I saw this look (pic attached) and it's literally the exact vibe I'm going for this wedding season - soft glam but not overdone, that glowy-but-not-greasy thing, basically something that'll hold up through 8 hours and look good in photos I'm building a small MAC kit because honestly their stuff just works for me, but I'm stuck on a few things and would love some real input from people who've actually used these products already have 1. Studio Fix Fluid 2. Strobe Cream for base 3. their lip liners (HG status for me, they literally don't move) where I'm confused: 1. blush that actually shows up on NC35-37 skin and doesn't fade? I ke...

Feeding feral pigeons and other birds on a budget

35m ago

I found it on Walmart, they delivered in two days, for free. I mean, holy ****, this is like the deal of the century. I don't think I'll buy any other bird food. I mix sunflower seeds, lentils, corn, and peanuts, for variety, but just the corn and sunflower seeds are good winter feed. https://preview.redd.it/nodkzhoj0yeg1.png?width=562&format=png&auto=webp&s=7245796e0a68dc590b53b25eefa559ea8e5dec74

Midoriya Izuku: the broccoli that became a boy

36m ago

Midoriya Inko buys groceries for dinner and brings it home — only for one of the broccoli she bought to sprout a face and transform into a scrawny, earnest boy who claims he's been waiting for a mother. Izuku's quirk literally makes him florets-and-fists: he can switch between broccoli and human forms at will; he reverts to a broccoli when his quirk is forcibly disabled. "I knew heroes could come from anywhere. I didn't expect to find one in produce aisles." Basic and mechanics: * **Forms**: two distinct forms — broccoli (plant form) and adolescent Izuku (human form). Change is volatile and near instant. * **Transformation**: both the shapeshifting and human ...

How long does it take for a spider plant to recover?

38m ago

Hi All. I'm new to the subreddit, but I found it when googling for tips for how to help out my spider plant. A friend gave me a healthy, large baby about 10 years ago, and it was super healthy and happy, and over the years, it had lots of growth and additional babies. When I moved offices, I left behind 5 or 6 large (8"? 10"?) pots that I had filled parent plant that I started with. Everyone I have given a baby from this original has a healthy, thriving plant. The one I kept for myself (probably a third generation from the original from a decade or so ago) when I moved offices is now in an east facing office, and I had it in direct sunlight. The tips started to brown, an...

Phantom and Dottore

38m ago

so not too sure if i'm doing this right but this is my first post so I apologize for anything wrong.  anyway, Im going to quickly recap The Phantom of the Opera for anyone who doesn't know.  (ps: if you don’t want to read the story/already know it i will put “\~” where the part cuts off into the theory) so about an hour or so in we learn the Phantoms past (named Eric (or Erik)) in the book (since I do not have the book I'm not able to get most of the original information about him) so first off the time period is around 1870-1880 depending on what movie you watch but still the same regardless, meaning the story would be "accurate" to the time period and ...

What role does human ethics play in your veganism?

39m ago

Conversations around veganism have always felt strange to me as they don't seem to acknowledge the human suffering in growing and harvesting plant foods. Obviously animal rights are at the forefront of veganism, but what role does lessening the exploitation of migrant and undocumented workers or poor/unpaid workers from countries affected by colonialism in food production play in your own ideology? I am vegetarian and this has been my own moral quandary for a while so I'm just wondering if this is something you have also considered. When looking for ethically-sourced food do you also include the exploitation of humans in this consideration? If so, how do find accurate sources for t...

Formica magna & Acromyrmex magna

42m ago

Formica and Acromyrmex magna are species of giant ant standing roughly 2 meters tall and around 3 meters these militant monsters come in two flavors, fungal foragers and vicious hunters. Although they look similar they are by hardly allies, the fungal Formica magna are content to roam the jungles and collect various plants and dead animals to grow their mushrooms where as the war mongering Acromyrmex magna are brutish predators who live out in the arid wastes hunting down any prey they can overpower and bringing it back to the nest where they will tear it apart and share it among the young. These two armies do not come in contact with one another frequently but when one becomes aware of the...

Cool mods for mountain bases?

42m ago

After more than a thousand hours playing the game, I never really liked the idea of mountain bases, especially because I love the farming part of the game. Now I want to try a cannibal all psycasting mountain people playthrough and I was wondering if there's any lifechanging mod for this kind of playthrough. What do you usually do to have a sustainable constant source of food? PS: I am obviously disabling insectoids because I don't want them to annoy me non-stop :( I know about that technique of setting an empty room in a certain temperature bla bla bla but I don't want to do that either lol

~UN/OCHA Ukraine: Who Does What, Where (3W/5W) December 2025~

**\~UN/OCHA**[ ]()**Ukraine: Who Does What, Where (3W/5W) December 2025\~** \*\*\*Based on previous years’ experience, there will be no 2026 numbers available until April.  The 2026 HNRP should be released soon but is not available yet. \*\*\* Please see the Ukraine Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan 2025 AND the Re-prioritized HNRP, released in April 2025 for specifics regarding objectives and targets.  It is assumed that Many-Most operations will have been negatively impacted by the destruction of USAID, directly or indirectly. Your Body Speaks Before You Do: The Hidden Language That Makes or Breaks Attraction

46m ago

Ever notice how some people walk into a room and everyone just... notices? Meanwhile others practically disappear into the furniture? I spent months digging through psychology research, body language studies, and those weird 3am YouTube rabbit holes about human behavior. Turns out we're all broadcasting signals 24/7 that either scream "I'm worth your time" or "please ignore me." The wild part? Most of us have no clue we're doing it. Your brain makes snap judgments about people in literally 100 milliseconds. Before you've even opened your mouth, strangers have already decided if you're confident, trustworthy, or someone they want to know. It'...

Lab HVac systems

46m ago

We are looking into changing out our HVAC system. Ownership wants to put in a mini split as we currently share our system with a hallway that cranks the heat in the winter, driving lab temps into the 90s. Our air comes in through a series of HEPA filters at the moment. Im against a mini split as we I have yet to see one that didn't grow mold, and we would lose the positive pressure we currently have pulling from an external air source. Any recommendations from other labs out there? Plentiful sources online for medical labs etc. looking for a brewery/food plant perspective. Cheers.

The Science-Based Signs You're Actually Depressed (Not Just Lazy or Unmotivated)

47m ago

So I spent years thinking I was just lazy and unmotivated. Turns out, I had major depression and didn't even know it. The tricky thing about depression is that it doesn't always look like what we see in movies. You don't have to be crying in bed all day to be depressed. Sometimes it's subtle. Sometimes you're functioning but barely holding it together. After talking to my therapist, diving into research, and consuming way too many mental health podcasts, I realized I was missing the signs. Here's what I wish someone had told me earlier. \*\*Your sleep is completely messed up\*\* This was my first clue. I was either sleeping 12 hours a day or lying awak...

Try india out before moving there permanently

48m ago

I went to india and stayed there a year before i cancelled my plan of moving there permanently. i had huge issue with Pollution, fake food, water pollution. i saw fraud and cheating has rampant. its impossible to catch up with them. Since we live in west world where society is trust based and you are not defrauded like india, its hard to go back to live there. There were major issues regarding road safety, drivers are awful. Tons and tons of issue. its so broken, unethical and outrageous that simply not living there is only solution. its non fixable place. guys be careful, anyone i know moved back to Canada faster than they lived there after moving there

(0.9) The Christmas event wrap-up

49m ago

I started playing VotV back in summer 2025, and it's the first winter I experienced in-game. I was honestly surprised with how the Christmas event turned out, being showered with the plethora of gifts, so I decided to make a short summary of things received over the last month. * radioactive barrels * explosive barrels * radioactive crystal * radioactive capsule * two wasp nests (without wasps, thankfully, sent to Dr. Bao) * two hostile paper aliens over two independent instances that nearly killed killed me both times, sent to Dr. Bao, of course * one hostile blue cheese that nearly killed me as well, chopped into pieces and stored in the mini-fridge for slow consumption * countless ...
