A Day in Kabini

3h ago

I’ve stayed at Kabini (Evolve Back Kabini, earlier Orange County Kabini) once, for a few nights, and I’ll answer this purely from personal experience. The overall quality is very high, but it’s not flashy luxury. The resort focuses more on comfort, privacy, and smooth operations than on showy interiors. Rooms felt solid and well maintained. Everything worked as it should, air-conditioning, hot water, lighting, locks, which matters a lot in a remote forest location. What stood out most to me was operational efficiency. On the first evening, we noticed the hot water was taking longer than expected. I mentioned it casually to a staff member during dinner, not even as a complaint. By th...

Washington Examiner: American Businesses Must Stop Helping China Threaten Us

3h ago

In a recent [editorial](https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/editorials/4440507/american-business-must-stop-helping-china-threaten-us/), The Washington Examiner outlined why American businesses must avoid Chinese partnerships that threaten our country. The editorial highlighted the Select Committee’s recent [letter](http://chinaselectcommittee.house.gov/media/press-releases/moolenaar-questions-ford-about-its-chinese-military-company-partnership-and-use-of-federal-tax-credits) to Ford CEO Jim Farley and key concerns with the company’s partnership with a CATL—a Chinese military company. The editorial also cited the committee’s **December report** on research security failures at ...

What is the one true religion?

3h ago

People keep asking the same old question, like a scratched record spinning under dim light: “What is the one true religion?” Maybe it’s Christianity. Maybe Islam. Maybe Buddhism, Sikhism, Taoism, Zoroastrianism, pick your flavor, pick your temple, pick your prophet. But when you strip the gold leaf off the statues, when you peel the velvet from the altar, they all hum the same frequency, don’t they? They hand you rules. They hand you stories. They hand you a worldview, pre-packaged, shrink-wrapped, “best before the end of time.” Take the Bible. It polices your hair, your food, your desire, your clothing, your love, your ****, even the architecture of your own conscience. It tra...

Mikhaila solves her food sensitivities.

3h ago

>Huge news—I can now tolerate some plant foods without arthritis or depression flares! After 8 years of strict ruminant meat only, I have shifted to animal-based/keto (meat + greens). The lion diet achieved remission but I needed more help to add foods back in. My reactions to plant foods have been either eliminated for a lot of the plants or dramatically reduced. This is what I’ve been aiming at for years. Mikhaila seems to have solved her food sensitivities. Mainly by addressing parasites and mold it seems.

What to do when traveling with family/friends and tour packages include non-vegan things?

4h ago

I'm struggling a bit with something and wanted to hear how other vegans handle this. When we travel with vegan friends or family, we're often offered to book tour packages that already include things like camel/horse rides, non-vegan refreshments, dinners, etc. I obviously don’t participate in those activities or eat the food, but the cost is bundled into the package and can’t really be removed. I feel really bad knowing my money is indirectly paying for animal exploitation, even if I’m not personally taking part. At the same time, these packages are sometimes the only option, especially when traveling in groups or certain countries. What to do in such situations?

30M | Burnt Out, Financially Stuck, Emotionally Numb, and anxiety,Unsure What to Do Next – Need Guidance.

4h ago

Hi everyone, I’m 30 years old. For the last 6 years, my life revolved around becoming a full-time trader. The last 3–4 years were spent attempting funded trading exams. I improved a lot in skill and discipline, but never reached consistent payouts. Recently, I was again attempting an exam and went into around 7% loss. After talking to a few people, I decided to let it go instead of forcing it further. I’m accepting that decision. But now I’m stuck with a different problem. Right now, my current situation looks like this: I feel like - I don’t have friends I can genuinely talk to -I don’t have money, which adds constant pressure -I feel emotionally numb — not sad, not excit...

Photographer with 10+ years experience - struggling land representation

4h ago

I’ve been a professional photographer for a little over a decade. I started out shooting food for two publications, then went freelance and spent years shooting a mix of events, portraits, products, lifestyle, etc. I’ve often been labeled a “food photographer,” but I’ve had a solid reputation across all categories and most of my work has come through referrals, so I never had to heavily market myself. Over the last couple of years, I realized food isn’t my main passion anymore, and I decided to intentionally pivot toward fashion/editorial. I spent about 2 years collaborating with models, agencies, stylists, brands, and creatives to build a new portfolio from scratch. It was exha...

the greatest american author to ever perfect the game

The Story of Cancer and other stories by Nathan Berkowitz This story starts when the very first clocks started ticking on Earth. I mean our first clocks, the ancestors of our circadian rhythms. You and I have genes that can tell time, a clock made of molecules ticking away in every cell. Before us, there were simpler clocks, bacterial cells sensing night from day. There must have been clocks before cells though, even before life. Some chemical reaction, cycling with the sunrise as the young planet turned. We don't know exactly what these clocks would have been, although scientists are looking into it. We do know the planet was spinning a little faster back then. What we rea...

To go up or not to go up…

4h ago

I’ve been at 7.5 for 2 months. I’m currently at 149/150 and a little stuck. My goal weight is 135-140. I have had a bit more side effects on this dose-some constipation, have a hard time finding foods that appeal, feel a bit nauseous & have more of my sweet cravings back. I need to reorder but am wondering if I should see if the Dr will suggest 10? I’d love some suggestions based on your experience.

Breathing/Throat Issue after Eating

4h ago

Hi!! So for the last 2 months or so I (19F) have been having issues with clearing my throat after eating. For around an hour after eating, I constantly need to clear my throat and have a ‘phlegm stuck’ kind of feeling, and occasionally have slight breathing issues. It happens with ALL food, whether dry bread, soup, fruits, ice creams. Water is fine, milk based coffees cause it slightly I have no issue WHILE eating and no pain, just a very annoying phlegm feeling afterwards I’m booked in to see my GP for an ENT referral - unfortunately rural living meant having to wait 6 weeks for a GP appointment. Not on any medications and no known allergies. Just seeing if anyone has seen simila...

Arkansas, ya lost me when….

4h ago

Ya lost me when: Your local governments abdicated their power and deferred all decision making to leaders of local Law Enforcement Agencies. They have predictably used that opportunity to consolidate their power through secret warrantless surveillance. Ya lost me when: You tolerated the inequity of obscene wealth that socializes the costs of irresponsible greed. Now we get to shrivel under the howling noise pollution generated by WW2 aircraft. Those hobbiests who value their own amusement over the quiet dignity of literally everyone else. No, being born on third base doesn’t mean you hit a triple. it means you owe just as much respect to the peace and dignity of NWA if not more. ...

I want to start being vegan this year

4h ago

I'm moving out soon so I'll have full control of my diet for the first time in my life. I avoid meet and eggs already when possible, Ive already tried out oat and soy milk and I know I prefer oat and I'm still learning different recipes. Something I've recently realized is the existence of strict and not strict vegans. Is there like a philosophical reason for the divide or is it more resource based. Like people who can afford to avoid trace amounts of milk will avoid it or is there a way that not buying from brands that might have cross contamination helps the cause. Or is it a mix between the two. Or is it a thing where a lot of strict vegans also have severe dairy aller...
