We're planning to grow 2 tomato plants, 1 pepper plant, and 5-6 herbs. We have three 8 gallon grow bags and are going to get five 1 gallon grow bags. Google says I will need 32 quarts of potting mix per 8 gallon bag and 4 quarts potting mix per 1 gallon bag, so 116 quarts or 29 gallons total. 29 gallons of the cheapest potting mix I can find is from Miracle Gro for about $35. Decently affordable but still more expensive than we expected.
