While there's always more to buy to keep on hand, I think I'm pretty good for basic preps and food and water for the people in the house, but I worry about feeding the dogs long term. I try to keep at least two months of dry kibble and wet food on hand, three when the budget allows, but if money's tight when that backup gets low or a true SHTF happens, those will be hard to get. I'd like to bulk up my stores and add to this year's garden with people food that will also feed the dogs and keep them healthy, not just full. I am trying to decide whether or not I should encourage my friend to install the CratfPot mod before their first playthrough or not. On the one hand, there is some enjoyment from just throwing random stuff into the crockpot and seeing what comes out. At the same time there is also a lot of frustration built into that game mechanic. With so many other things to learn in the game, wasting all the food making crockpot mistakes isn't high on the list of experiences I want to show them. Now, I could also give them tips and advice for what to cook, but if I'm doing that anyway I feel CraftPot would be better because at least it offers them some agency in exploring foods on their own. ...

I just recently adopted an african pygmy hedgehog. She currently eats cat kibble and insects. I swear I've seen someone on here before talk about raw food for their hedgie, and I know Paws of Prey on Youtube does as well - but I believe she only has 2 videos going over hedgie nutrition. It seems like what to do is feed a quality cat blend and lots of insects. From what I understand hedgehogs lack a cecum so they lack the ability to digest plant matter and shouldn't be eating it, which is why hedgie owners feed cat food anyway. recently went on a cruise with the misses and, as someone who has portion control and binge issues, i’ve been thinking about whether i handled it correctly. it was an 8 day, 7 night cruise. before this, i had been in a 3 month cutting phase and went from 217 down to 200 lb bw. on the cruise, i did zero calorie counting, but my goal was to roughly stay at maintenance, which ended up being harder than i expected. i started the cruise at 200 and came back at 201.4. my plan was pretty simple: at the buffet, i tried to fill up on lean protein and dense, high-volume foods (turkey, broccoli, spinach, etc.) to actually get full. once that base was there, i let myself have small portions of the m...

I've known this cat for over five years. She's very sweet for a street cat, feed her daily, as do other neighbors; She far from starving. I've never been able to have her in my house since my grandma can't have any cats but I'm moving with my gf and her dog (who is totally chill with cats) so I wanna take her. After reading other peoples posts. I somehow feel like I have only covered the essentials but yet I have overpacked (75L bag). Especially considering that Im staying at refugios (3N dorms / 5N Tent) and only have to carry food for the day. At the moment I have 12.7kg and that doesn't even include toiletries, sunscreen, medication, wipes, etc. It does including 1750ml of water. At the refugios I have access to a sleeping bag but its not regularly washed. That seems a bit risky to me. Perhaps it doesnt matter as we'll be dirty anyway. I want to cook food which is healthier and cheaper than oven cooked stuff, and any meals that you can cook alot of easily would be appreciated. U was thinking Bolognese and a diced fried chicken could be my first two meals to cook, but any other reccomendations would be appreciated, as well as any good recipes for the aforementioned foods.
