Excerpt from The Accursed Share: An Essay on General Economy by Georges Bataille (The Bourgeois World)3h ago**The Bourgeois World** ***The Fundamental Contradiction of the Search for Intimacy*** At the origin of industrial society, based on the primacy and autonomy of commodities, of *things,* we find a contrary impulse to place what is essential – *what causes one to tremble with fear and delight –* outside the world of activity, the world of *things.* But however this is shown it does not controvert the fact that in general a capitalist society reduces what is human to the condition of a *thing* (of a commodity). Religion and economy were delivered in one and the same movement from that which indebted them to one another: the former from profane calculation, the latter from limits given fr... Makhana (Foxnut): A Complete Trade-Focused Guide3h ago# Including Single Grade vs Mixed Grade Explained in Detail Makhana, also known as foxnut or lotus seed, is a pond-based agricultural produce with a unique cultivation, processing, and grading ecosystem. While it is often marketed as a “premium snack,” the real story of makhana lies in its **farming practices, processing challenges, grading systems, and trade economics**. This article focuses on makhana from a **trade and supply-chain perspective**, not lifestyle or recipe content. # 1. What is makhana? Makhana is harvested from aquatic plants grown in shallow ponds. The raw seeds are collected manually, dried, roasted, and popped through a labor-intensive process before becoming the... Last minute February itinerary3h agoI have found myself with \~11 days to travel. I would like a section of this time to be dedicated to a multi day backpacking or at minimum a couple of hikes from a remote base camp. Given how much time I have, I have been thinking about traveling as far from New England as I can manage. Ideally 12+ hours away from home and logistically complicated. I will likely be traveling solo. Beyond that core hiking / backpacking part of the trip, I would love to be able to experience some wow factor of culture, food, or other landscape / geologic activity. Rain, sun, challenging terrain all welcome. Spending a day in a major city with great food preferred. I am scuba certified and comfortable with 4... 24M Canada | Asexual geek 4 geek3h ago* I'm introverted, neurospicy, emotionally deep, playful, kinda awkward, and gayyy af 🤪 * I'm into video games (socially), animated stuff, plants, cooking, and learning new sh\*t * My current ADHD fixation is learning French. Yes. The most durable, high-margin industries structurally optimize for \*\*System 1 dominance\*\*—not merely as a marketing tactic, but as the fundamental architecture of their economic moats. Last minute February Trip4h agoI have found myself with \~11 days to travel. After a few hours of research, it seems like some of my best options would be either deep in Patagonia, the Atacama desert, South Island of NZ, Jordan, Tanzania, or Cape Verde. Traveling in February is proving to be tricky as a lot of other places I might go (for example Ecuador or Peru) are mid rainy season. I ... Korea and Germany go head-to-head in pursuit of Canada’s $42B submarine deal4h agoKorea is going all out to win a large-scale submarine contract from Canada, mobilizing not only its top shipbuilders — Hanwha Ocean and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) — but Hyundai Motor and Korean Air in an effort to craft the most compelling bid possible. However, Korea is facing a formidable competitor — Germany, led by TKMS, formerly known as Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems. TKMS is offering its upcoming Type 212CD class submarines, which are expected to first be deployed to the Norwegian and German Navy starting in 2029. Hanwha Ocean is offering the KSS-III CPS, based on the KSS-III Batch II currently operational by the Korean Navy. The Korean Navy currently o... How is Life at IIMs & other top B-schools?4h agoThis is based on conversations with my friends at these colleges. For IIM Ahemdabad - It's pretty chill (apart from placements season). They basically treat you as an adult, so as long as you're within normal human behaviour, not much restrictions. Dress code - none in campus, some profs might enforce full pant/jeans in class and full business formals during placements. For IIM Bangalore - It is super chill. Co-ed hostels with no restriction. Only floors are different. No entry exit restriction as such. You're treated like an adult. For IIM Calcutta - Late night curfew - 12 am is deadline, but even if you're late, they let you enter (just don't make this frequent... Colombia in April — budget, immigration questions, and tips?4h agoI’m Filipina, based overseas, and planning a 2-week trip to Colombia this April. For those who’ve been recently: Is $3,000 USD enough if I’m staying in budget places and focusing more on food and experiences? What do they usually ask at immigration? Aside from proof of accommodation and a return ticket, what other documents should I prepare? Planning to visit Bogotá, Medellín, and Cartagena - open to suggestions for other spots! Any travel tips would be much appreciated. Thank you! 🙏 I have a theory for creating a perfect country (utopia). Tell me why it would fail.4h agoThis is my personal theory on how a utopian country could be created. First, the government would take loans from every citizen based on their wealth and how much they are capable of giving. This would include everyone, from the poorest to the richest, proportional to their capacity. After pooling this money, the country would transition into a communist system with no private ownership. Since ownership no longer exists, the money is no longer owned by individuals, meaning the government does not actually owe anyone — it becomes collective wealth. This pooled wealth would then be used to develop the country and push progress. A large portion of it would be dedicated to research and deve... Oh, and main inspiration is from Spectrum mod for Minecraft Ava (she/it) – An automaton/construct whose biology is fundamentally built upon crystal-based chromomagic. Externally, she has pale white skin made of calcite mixed with iron, with visible puppet-like joints and no mouth.
