Pokétopia: Where Nostalgia Blooms and Pikachu Grows a Beard

2h ago

To celebrate thirty years of Pokémon, I transformed my entire island into a living, breathing monument to the franchise that raised me. Using only the Island Designer app's humble tools (paths, cliffs, and rivers) I painstakingly recreated the official anniversary artwork: Pikachu bursting from a Poké Ball, triumphantly hoisting the 3 next to it. But I didn't stop at terrain manipulation. Oh no. Like an obsessed horticulturist with a vision, I planted fields of **yellow flowers** across Pikachu's entire body, and carpeted the number and half the Poké Ball in **crimson blooms**. The effect is equal parts heartwarming and mildly concerning, like a floral tribute to childhood...

Self-sufficient cape Trelawney

2h ago

My variant of self-sufficient city at cape Trelawney. As the saying goes: it's not the one who has a lot who is happy, but the one who has enough.© Almost all needs are met. Except for chocolate (which went to the engineers), cigars, bicycles (for engineers too and workers, also) and children's toys for the investors. Some lifestyle needs (Which can be produced in the old world, including by certain specialists in trade unions). Tourists consume everything. But, without shampoo, souvenirs, and lemonade, as well as the negative influence of propaganda, their number will be more than 4,000. And the radius of the iron tower (1700) will not change. The needs of scholars are met t...

When I was younger chapter i don’t know I think my dad started the negative reinforcement for m, he made the world seem overly sexual because he loved me in an overly loving way. by letting me sleep in the bed and kissing my mum or holding me too aggressively and after my mum had me almost asleep, (but I only ever slept because I was scared)I was always in pain form the start but I loved food because it was my only comfort, like he would love my mum, my step dad made me watch football when I was younger and drink his empty cans when he was bored I liked the Simpsons personally. It forged the mentality that footballs bad at this specific point then I grew up and I saw people use footba...

Wild thoughts about Ely

2h ago

With the new chapter batch coming I wanted to share my barely coherent thoughts based on many logic leaps about our favorite thief! Here's the gist of it: \- We know that Azuma and Tokio share a special choujin bond and can feel each other's choujin signal when others can't. Despite this Ely also seems to be able to feel Tokios signal when he's at the zoo in chapter 6. \- When not focused Ely's thieving instincts come in full force, such as when she was sleepy at the tower and wasn't fully aware of what she was saying. \- Ely's story about her mother is rather suspicious, and it would be even more so if we knew of another character who after rea...

M27 U.S. • are you my future friend? ✨

2h ago

Greetings! I’m a 27-year-old guy based in the U.S. I work in a shop that sells books and records, which means I spend a lot of time alphabetizing things and having strong opinions about album covers. When I’m not there, I like making stuff with my hand. I enjoy making poor paintings, writing short poems that mostly stay in notebooks on my shelf, knitting uneven scarves and trying to keep plants alive in my garden (mixed results). I’m into wandering conversations and finding small joys where you don’t expect them, meaning you don’t have to share any of my interests. I expect nothing at all of you except that you put some effort into introductions and conversations, and that you are...

The Devil is Alive in Mississippi

2h ago

This is one of my favorites I've written, would love to know your thoughts. \-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When I was just a young fella, my mama gave me a guitar for my tenth birthday. She had gotten the old acoustic secondhand, spent all her tip money from the diner on it. The thing was worn and couldn’t hold a tune for ****. It sat awkwardly on my little lap, much too big for a boy my age, but it was a gift from my mama and I loved my mama, so I loved it.  I played it every day.  “You keep up your playing, boy and one day you’ll make something great of yourself.” She used to say as I fumbled around on the fretboard. ...

35F Black woman in NYC looking to connect with an Asian man (friendship first, serious intentions)

2h ago

Hi 🤍 I’m new to Reddit but I figure why not giving putting myself out there a try, I could probably meet some great people. I’m a 35y/o Caribbean woman living in the Financial District of NYC, and I’m putting myself out there with intention and an open heart. I’m naturally a little shy at first, but once I’m comfortable, I’m playful, curious, and a bit nerdy. I love slow afternoons in the park, long walks in nature, and spending time with my two dogs. I’m the type to order a cocktail with ingredients I’m unsure about just to expand my palate and try something new. I’m a sommelier (still growing!) and have worked as a bartender for most of my career. One day, I’d lo...

Second loaf question - how does temping work if you’re supposed to wait until it’s cooled to cut into?

2h ago

Baked my second loaf today and it got me thinking, is it bad to put a thermometer in it if you’re not supposed to cut it until it is cooled? Bonus question - what is your favorite salt to use? Any advice based on the initial look or below process? Only my second loaf so kind of looking at this as a science experiment. Recipe: 125 g starter (almost 4 weeks old) 345 water 500 g King Arthur AP organic flour 15 g salt I mixed the flour and water and let sit for 45 minutes, then added the starter. I added salt when I did my first stretch and fold. 4 stretch and folds over the course of 2 hours then let sit and rise to about 60%, I think around 7 hours. Pre shaped, 30 min bench rest, final s...

#3 Animals you probably didnt know exist - Reimers Katydid (Pardalota Reimeri)

2h ago

Pardalota Reimeri is a colorful species of Katydid that has been observed feeding on trees that produce potent chemical defense. It has only ever been found in East Africa, with the last documentation from 2014 in Quirimbas, Mozambique. It is suspected and likely that P. Reimeri is toxic based on the appereance and observed food source making it "aposematic", which means warning potential predators by showing they are dangerous. The Abdomen is bright orange at the top with black sides and the hind legs show a black and yellow coloration at the top with the rest being a light green. On the wings there are rune like markings over the black parts. Other spots of the wings are p...

WYR control fire, water, metal, air or plants?

2h ago

For fire you con make fire anywhere, along with boiling water, lightning etc. For water you can control all water, along with bodies, blood, clouds and basically anything with water in it. For metal you can control all metals along with metal rich soils, rocks, plants etc, you are also magnetic. For air, well you can control air, making tornadoes, suffocating people and all that stuff. For plants it’s basically that, you can control and manipulate all plants, like poison ivy. This is based off the five elements theory in Chinese mythology. Avatar was going to follow it, but they got rid of the wood element and turned the metal element into earth. [View Poll](https://www.reddit.com/p...

Need an easy 350 calorie snack — please give suggestions!

2h ago

I’m pretty underweight, but recently I’ve been packing myself a few things to eat at work. Chilequiles, homemade parfait, and a granola bar, adding up to 1,346.25 calories. I wanna hit 1.7k calories at work, but it needs to be easy to prep and cheap to make. I don’t have that much time in the morning before work but I like to make fresh food everyday for myself, it takes me around 25~ minutes to get my food situated so easy, quick and cheap recipes are preferrable. I’m going grocery shopping today so if y’all could do the brain-storming for me while I finish up my work-day, that’d be very much appreciated !!! !!! I’m also allergic to dairy, so nothing with cheese please. I ca...

diet changes for potentially pre-diabetic cat with a history of bladder stones?

2h ago

I'm not looking for medical advice, I'm in contact with my vet. I'm just curious if anyone else has found themselves in this situation. My 5yo female cat may be pre-diabetic, based on her most recent bloodwork. I say may because she is very anxious and her being stressed at the time could have skewed the results so I'm currently waiting on a fructosamine test. In the meantime, my vet recommended switching to a low carb diet. However, my cat had bladder stones once when she was 3, which were resolved with prescription food. I've kept her on the Hills cd + stress dry food, but the wet versions did not agree with her (I tried multiple flavors/brands) so now I just su...

Few questions in my mind - Conversation with Claude.

There were some questions on my mind from ChatGPT days. These are some genuine concerns which the Governments are not taking care of. Even I discussed it with some people and most of them had somewhat similar thoughts. Still the max people we see on social media are either making memes or generating videos or pictures. People are not really understanding the threat which is almost here. Once an idea is developed which could be risky, there has to be a kill switch. Be it a nuclear weapon or nuclear power plant. People need to decide the fate of the world. When GenAI came people were kind of scared of AI mainly cause of autonomous weapons or deep fakes or cyber attacks. Those are more prominen...

The King Goat V1

2h ago

For those of you who are interested in getting a mid-drive ebike. Having the privilege of seeing The King Goat since its inception has given me a broader understanding of this bike beyond the normal purview of your average YT influencers. As soon as I saw it I had to have it. Just like you, I paid for my bike too, but with a greater understanding having the opportunity of talking with the owner of Goat Powered Bikes in depth. Let me start off by saying this about this artfully designed bike that has a touch of ruggedness encapsulated in hardcore steel topped off with a touch of nostalgia. What it is, who should buy it, and what it’s not? I can definitively tell anyone reading this what ...

Recipe swaps

2h ago

Our conure gets visibly upset when we’re eating Mexican food…quesadillas & nachos or Italian food…pizza or his favorite rigatoni with vodka sauce and we don’t share it with him. Do they eat like this in the wild? We try to give him all the best conure food and treats, but he prefers pizza, vodka rigatoni, nachos and quesadillas. Any recommendations for healthy swaps or bird friendly recipes for his favorite foods?

Innovative Technology Harnesses Sunlight to Decompose ‘Forever

2h ago

Researchers have developed a sunlight-powered catalyst that breaks down “forever chemicals” (PFAS) into less harmful byproducts, offering a potential solution to persistent pollution. Led by the University of Bath, the team created a carbon-based photocatalyst targeting PFAS—chemicals used in non-stick cookware, waterproof fabrics, cosmetics, and other products. Although highly useful, PFAS are extremely stable and do not naturally degrade, accumulating in water, soil, food chains, and the human body. Some studies link certain PFAS to increased cancer risk and other health concerns. The new system combines carbon nitride with a microporous polymer called PIM-1, which traps PFAS near th...

The Walrus Q&A with Brazil Potash CEO Matt Simpson: why potash supply stability matters.

2h ago

*The Walrus* published a Q&A with Matt Simpson (CEO, Brazil Potash) focused on potash’s role in agriculture and what happens when supply chains face geopolitical or trade disruption. A few takeaways from Matt’s answers: * Potash is one of the three core crop nutrients — and Matt argues it’s uniquely critical because there’s no substitute for its function in modern farming. * He describes a highly concentrated global supply base, which can magnify volatility when unexpected events hit (logistics disruptions, sanctions, shifting trade terms). * He frames the need for additional supply as a form of “selective globalization” — not producing everything domestically, but...

That question bothers a lot of people. And for a long time, the answer seemed to be: you need money for ads, a full team behind you, or some kind of secret that only the top creators know about. But that is changing fast. Like, really fast. Right now, in 2026, the way marketing works on Instagram has shifted in a way that catches most...
