Welcome dinner vs sangeet

2h ago

My sister really wanted a microwedding, but that's not happening. She at least has gotten our parents to agree to lower the guest count and cut some distant relatives. She is also trying to lobby for doing a welcome dinner with a restaurant buyout, as opposed to doing a big ballroom sangeet on the night before the wedding. I fully support her idea for a welcome dinner, but our parents keep contending that "people" will complain, that they'll miss Indian food, and that guests want the spectacle. I'd argue we already had the big fat wedding (I got married a few years ago and was exhausted the whole 3 days; didn't enjoy any of it), everyone has already been to ton...

Friends and Family (Chapter 3, Part 2)

2h ago

Jim arrived at the dealership.  Queen City Chevrolet was located on South Tryon Street, in the shadow of the Charlotte skyscrapers, and just a short distance from Bank of America Stadium, where the NFL’s Carolina Panthers play.  It was built in 1934 as a Packard dealership.  The dealership had been remodeled quite a few times since it opened.  The dealership was still selling Packards as well as used cars when automobile production was halted in 1942, thanks to World War II.  The dealership switched to a Chrysler-Plymouth dealership in 1956 (by that time, the Packard brand was close to being gone).  Finally, in 1966, after a decade of selling Chryslers and Plymouths, the dealership s...

What I think is the Truth Behind the Circus

2h ago

The latest episode was essentially Gooseworx tempting both the characters and the audience with the temptation of answers and freedom, only to have it rippled away. While many people commented they caught onto the fishiness of Abel's story with how blatantly sci-fi and cartoonishly evil the idea of C&A higher-ups forcing people into pods, I think the fact that Caine is an AI means he generates his stories based on the information he is fed, and this 'adventure' was loosely based on the truth behind the creation of the Circus, and Kinger. Looking first at Kinger, we know he spent years of his life learning about Computer Science. The fandom was quick to theorize that ...

I’m tired of the "8 PM Fridge Stare"

2h ago

You know that feeling when you get home from work, you're exhausted, and you just stand there staring into the fridge like the answer to your life is going to pop out " what I’m gone eat tonight?" I’ve been doing that every night for a long time. As a single guy in Morocco, my routine was always: go to the Hanout, buy a bunch of stuff because "I might need it," and then three days later, throw half of it away because I didn't have a plan. We buy the ingredients first and then struggle to "invent" a meal. It’s stressful, it’s expensive, and honestly, it’s a waste of the hard-earned money we make. I decided I couldn't do it anymore, so I ...

How much wet food should I be giving?

2h ago

Hi, i know this is probably a very common question but i'm having trouble figuring out how much food to give my cat. Before i got him a couple years ago he was on dry food only, just filling the bowl up a few times a day so he was super fat. I switched his foods/amounts a couple times and I've been trying to switch him to only wet food as he's been on wet and dry for a while. the can of friskies says to feed about 2 cans a day based on his weight but that seems like a lot of food and he still needs to lose a little weight i think. his yearly vet appointment is coming up soonish but i was just wondering what other people feed their cats

Security Forces Question: can we bring you guys food/drinks?

2h ago

No seriously, can we bring you guys food/drinks? Do you like it when people do that? Or does it vary by base at all? I often run into town to get my flight lunch & often think about getting an extra pizza/box of tacos/whatever it is for the people at the gate. It’s a mildly secluded base (with not many options on it) so I don’t imagine the younger airmen get off base often to treat themselves - especially if they don’t have cars here. I’m not expecting anything in return, but I feel like if I’m getting my shop food while working long hours, you guys might want a little treat too. :)

Would you rather own property or travel?

2h ago

**I understand the purpose of this thread, but I’m newer to Reddit and can’t think of other subreddits to post to so feel free to recommend any others, but I’d also like to know your opinions!** ❓Do you think that growing up on property or traveling is more beneficial in raising children? Background— we are 32, with 4 kids (16, 7.5, 5, and 3). We are at a point where we are considering property heavily mostly for a bigger garden & a shop for my husband. But where we live, that would be an easy $3,500/mo. We are plant-based so this property is more for legacy, not for animals or homesteading. And flowers. I want a plot of pretty flowers!! We might have some fun token anim...

F21 looking to meet genuine kind people

Hey! I’m Sunny. I live on the west coast in California! But I’m a Midwest girl at heart. A little bit about me. 🎶- I have a diverse taste in music. It goes based on how I feel in all honesty. Music is how I find the words to how I’m feeling. I love indie, sad pop, country and upbeat pop. I’m not a lover of intense rock or screaming music or instrumentals. 🥞- I love food! I enjoy cooking and baking very much. I love strawberry cake it is my absolute favorite. My grandma used to make the very best strawberry cake. I love BLTs or chicken and bacon salad. 🙏🏼- I’m not perfect. I make mistakes. I’m not judgmental. I don’t care what wyou look like, where you are from o...

Looking For A Duo | PC (Repost)

2h ago

Hey there, my name is Valtrix. I'm looking for an official server duo. I have 1,733 hours. I will remove this edit when I finally find a duo. As you are reading this, I still have not found one. **My Playstyle** I avoid cities and towns. I often find myself backpacking through the woods while listening to artists like Uncle Lucius, Bill Withers and Tyler Childers playing on very low volume in the background, just to make the game feel a little more warm. I have excellent map knowledge. I use points of interest in combination with the concave / convex contour lines to navigate myself accurately through large forests. I almost exclusively hunt for my food. I like basing myself in obscu...

Turkey Pozole, Egg White Cups, Tejocotes Dulces, and Strawberry Rhubarb Hand Pies

2h ago

It was by pure coincidence that I made pozole the day before a cold front hit, it went from 80° to 37° Farenheit overnight. I wanted to try roasting a turkey and I watched a tasting history video that said that some people make pozole with turkey so that's what I did! I also saw some Tejocotes in the store which I instantly wanted to try so I made some Tejocotes Dulces in a cinnamon and cloves infused syrup to eat with my yogurt. I wanted to test drive a recipe that I'm going to make for my baby cousins for Christmas so I made some strawberry rhubarb hand pies because I recently discovered how good the two plants go together. **Turkey Pozole** \~3 lb Turkey ****** 2 tbsp oliv...

Advice for allergy desensitization?

2h ago

***Dog is currently under the care of a vet, and actively being treated.*** I'm looking for any advice from folks that have done allergy testing and desensitization therapy for their dog. My parents brought home an older American Cocker Spaniel puppy about a year ago and he has been itchy since day 1. It has been decently controlled with Apoquel and occasionally Cytopoint injections. Recently, he developed a severe skin infection on his belly/groin. Antibiotics and Prednisone helped clear up his belly, but the dry, scaly patches have now moved up to his chest, throat, between his eyes, and around the base of his tail. He currently has bald patches between his eyes and around his tail....

Gourmon Initial Concept

2h ago

I’m gonna get this out of the way up front, yes I know what Fighting Foodons is/are. This is heavily inspired by it, in fact it was originally going to be a fan project before it took on a life of its own. I loved the show back in the day and wear my inspiration on my sleeve if it isn’t immediately obvious. If you haven’t heard of Fighting Foodons, go look for it, go watch it. Alright, back to this. I am building a game that features creature collection, cooking simulation, and turn-based strategy. It is called Gourmon. The game loop is as follows: \- Gather ingredients \- Cook the dish \- turn it into a Gourmon \- Battle The Gourmon have a limited lifespan, food spoils aft...

The Red Lotus's first kidnapping attempt on Korra

2h ago

The blizzard that perpetually scoured the South Pole was a living thing, a howling spirit of wind and ice that had raged for thousands of winters, its voice a constant, mournful song. Yet, within the grand lodge of Wolf Cove—a sanctuary of carved whalebone ribs arching like a cathedral ceiling, walls of packed snow that glowed with inner warmth, and the heavy, comforting scent of burning seal-oil—a rare and profound peace reigned. It was a peace woven from the threads of shared history, the comfortable silence of old soldiers, and the deep, abiding love of a family forged in the crucible of war. Fire Lord Zuko, at seventy-five, possessed a presence that was a deep, unwavering heat of an...

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is the Greatest Socialist Alive

2h ago

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is the greatest socialist alive, a political leader whose life story represents resilience, democracy, and commitment to social justice. After being unjustly imprisoned for around 500 days, without any act of violence and with unwavering respect for democratic principles, Lula emerged as a symbol of resistance against authoritarianism and played a decisive role in preventing Brazil from sliding into total fascism. His return to power marked the restoration of democracy and the rule of law, proving that truth and popular will can overcome political persecution. Under Lula’s leadership, Brazil achieved one of the lowest unemployment rates in its history, reflectin...

Chapter 1: Drowning Silence (A fragment of My Childhood)

2h ago

Hey I am Void over here :D I got a story which I wanted to share and here we go just don't judge me for being this weak: I was a child who did well in memory based subjects from 1st to 5th grade I could manage EVS and English but I struggled badly with Hindi and math (math for that even rn as im in cs major) reading and writing Hindi was especially difficult for me even while that was my native language that gap in ability became a constant trigger for punishment like if homework wasn’t finished if teachers complained or if I stayed outside playing longer than allowed I was beaten by belt to slaps to fists to kicks I was around 8y old when this became routine most of the times the p...
