Yin Water (Gui) is like mist or fine rain: gentle, adaptable, subtle, and highly intuitive. Its **good** points are empathy, emotional intelligence, creativity, flexibility, and the ability to quietly influence and nourish others over time. Its **bad** points are indecision, moodiness, overthinking, being overly secretive or withdrawn, and scattering energy in too many directions. For success, narrow your focus to a few clear priorities, then follow through consistently instead of constantly changi...

I randomly found this Everest base camp documentary and cant stop thinking about it.

3h ago

I came across this documentary randomly and decided to give it a shot. To my surprise i ended up watching the whole thing (about 26 minutes). What stood out the most was the ground reality shown by the creators. Every thing from the struggles of the Sherpas, altitude sickness faced by tourists along with the unpredictability of weather in the Himalayas was shown without over dramatizing it. It showed the aspirations and personal stories of the porters, why food and water are expensive up there, how edible and inedible supplies are transported from helicopter. A real high altitude rescue situation was also shown which i found exciting. It felt more like being on the challenging trail to Ev...

People are wearing MIGA hats and I'm spiraling, can someone give me some recipes to ease my mind?

3h ago

We all want freedom for Iran, genuinely, we want the same goal. But I've been seeing so many Iranians loudly wearing MIGA hats and waving Israeli flags, it's made me feel depressed and frustrated. When I see those hats, I don’t just see “foreign aid.” I associate them with their political ideals and it’s impossible for me to separate the two. I want to discuss, I want to talk, but these people are actively "it's this way, or your against us" and I'm sitting here thinking, "wtf are you talking about, we want the same thing". There's no understanding that they are siding with all the political ideals of MAGA or Israel, they just see that...

Letting them die: parents refuse medical help for children in the name of Christ

3h ago

Mariah Walton’s voice is quiet – her lungs have been wrecked by her illness, and her respirator doesn’t help. But her tone is resolute. “Yes, I would like to see my parents prosecuted.” Why? “They deserve it.” She pauses. “And it might stop others.” Mariah is 20 but she’s frail and permanently disabled. She has pulmonary hypertension and when she’s not bedridden, she has to carry an oxygen tank that allows her to breathe. At times, she has had screws in her bones to anchor her breathing device. She may soon have no option for a cure except a heart and lung transplant – an extremely risky procedure. All this could have been prevented in her infancy by closing a s...

High protein recipe without pulses or soy

3h ago

Hi everyone - thank you for this community, I’m a quite an experienced cook, but I’ve been struggling to think of recipes that rely on high protein foods other than legumes (beans, lentils, etc.), soy products (tofu, seitan - not tofu but similar texture, etc.), and nutritional yeast. It’s nice to have a change. Could you drop your favorite high protein recipes with no such products below? 30g of protein per portion minimum please for the days I hit the gym. Thank you! 🙏

Help with moving Xanadu (?)

3h ago

I'm moving cross country next week, and I'd really like to take this plant with me. From what I've read, it seems like trying to get it through TSA is my best chance at getting it 2000 miles away safely. First: is this actually a Philodendron Xanadu? Second: the entire plant and pot is too large to be a personal item on the plane, so I was thinking of trying to tease out the roots of one of the four clusters and take just the single base with me. Does this sound like a good plan? If so, should I prioritize the smallest of the bunch (which will be easiest to transport), or the largest with fresh growth? Thank you so much for the help

What additions/reworks to germs do you guys want to see?

3h ago

We all know that germs are relatively harmless and overall are not very interesting, so what would you want to add/change to make them more interesting? I would add in a new critter that could absorb germs to convert them into resources based on the germs. It could convert germs like food poisoning into dirt or slimelung into algae for example.

https://reddit.com/link/1rbepqq/video/n4jkd5hzrzkg1/player I've been tracking my meals for years, but lately, it feels like every popular calorie counting app has turned into a social media platform. They’re filled with ads, community feeds I don't care about, and require way too many taps just to log a simple meal. So I decided to build something entirely focused on the actual core utility. Over the past few months, I've been developing an app called **Caloez: Calorie Tracker** in my spare time, and it's finally live on the App Store. My main focus was to make logging as frictionless and accurate as possible. Instead of forcing you to type and search through outda...

Okay, this is maybe going to show how crazy I am, but this is all pressing stuff that's been at the front of my mind for ages, I just didn't have the courage to post/ask sooner... so brave! Before I continue, I want to point out that I've made this dish probably 50+ times since I got really into bolognese just a few years ago. Even with the points of discontent, I still like it a lot. Further, I want to point out that I've noticed times when I was lacking an ingredient or swapped it for something significantly different, I really didn't notice any difference. So I wonder if some of these things are more a food placebo than anything... because I am really confiden...

The fairy world in Pan’s labyrinth *is* real, but it’s not what we’re told it is

3h ago

So, I just watched Pan’s labyrinth for the first time. And right off the bat, I didn’t trust the creatures. I noticed that the ‘Fairies’ who were apparently just disguised as stick creatures only turned into fairies by seeing the picture Ofelia showed them and mimicking it. But what made me sure is one specific detail.  For some reason, the only theory I’ve seen online about this movie is that it’s all in her head. But my theory fixed more inconsistencies, so it’s better. And so without further ado, my theory is that the place at the end wasn’t really the kingdom, not because she imagined it, but because something darker is going on. Remember Mercedes? As in the maid w...

Amouage Gold Man - the most opulent and regal fragrance ever

3h ago

Hello my dear fellow fragheads, today I wanna talk about the fragrance that took my breath away. It changed the entire meaning of fragrances for me. It was year 1983, and Sultan Bin Qaboos of Oman called the best perfumers with one request - create the best fragrance, no matter the cost. He wanted the most unique gift that he can give to important people. So it all started as what we know as Amouage, and Gold Man and Woman were the first ones to be made. Gold Man starts with a very refreshing, lively rose hip, highlighting green aspects of a rose plant. Added to that is Lily of the Valley, that gives this an old money contemporary vibe. Complementing them is the most opulent royal Hojari...

Plant-based diets may prevent obesity

Trying not to overthink it...

Taking the leap (long time coming) and I want to adapt a different lifestyle starting with MD. I recently stopped drinking diet soda and am strictly drinking water with the occasional glass of lemonade. I love salmon, broccoli, Greek salads, eggs, brown rice, fruit, cucumbers and many of the other things found on the plan. But here's the kicker, I do not like so many of the foods that are in many of the recipes: yogurt, oatmeal, olives, tomatoes, brussel sprouts and asparagus (and there are probably a couple I am forgetting about). I hope once I am eating the MD 90% of the time I can try to incorporate some of the items I currently do not like. Hoping that kicking the habit of consumin...
