So, I know harm reduction is a big debate in the vegan community and most people do not consider others vegan if they choose to consume animals when they have the ability not to. Definitely far preferable to being a carnivore, but not truly vegan. I haven't done this yet, but prior to becoming vegan I was an aspiring chef and really passionate about food. I'm in zone 9b inland California, so our climate is well suited for Mediterranean plant palette, including native plants. Over time, I realised that many of our traditional Asian dishes are actually naturally gluten-free — something not many people are aware of. My 5 y/o female Labradoodle has *always* bitten at the base of her tail and will loudly lick her private area (usually goes off to another room to do it 🙃). We switched her food to Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach (salmon) a while back because she used to get red bumps on her stomach, and that completely cleared up — which made us think chicken allergy. At least where I am based (London). It’s reasonably priced - not as cheap as Aldi or Lidl - but cheaper than Sainsbury’s. And I actually think the quality of their food is great. Hi guys so I posted here a couple hours ago but my betta is not doing well at all, she ignored her food since 2-3 days and she's been laying at the bottom of her tank since yesterday and today she's doing even worse, her mouth is open, her gills are moving fast and once in a while she rushes up to get air. I did a small water change yesterday and a 50% one more than 30 minutes ago. She's in a 5 gal planted tank with heater+filter, ammonia and nitrites at 0 ppm, nitrates at 25 ppm, ph of 7.6, temperature at 78°. I got her around 5 days ago. Can anyone help me I don't know what she has or what to do.

This question really came to me is because I know that I am alive but I do not know how I am alive. My heart is pumping blood which gives oxygen and nutrients everywhere else and my brain has an inner electrical system to give messages to my entire body. But the fact that this allows the possibility of me being a sentient being, meaning I can think and categorise things based on what I see, hear, or touch, and can even constitute language based on sounds and meaning of certain words, it seems really weird to me because I know that I am alive and i am sentient and self-conscious but I do not how that is even possible.
