im planning on doing a custom background in a few days for my crested gecko but was curious what people do about pots on the background. i see a few people doing it and i love it so much but when adding the foam around the base around the pots do you also add foam to the bottom of the pots? or do u leave it without foam for the roots to grow and for the extra water to drip out. im just afraid that if i add foam around the bottom when watering the plant there would just be a pool of water sitting in there. dont know if it makes a difference but here are the pots i plan to use

I’m mostly done printing the terrain for the roach enclosure, all that’s left is structures that can wait. I also designed slots to glue seed pods (magnolia and lotus head) in place, since I noticed the babies in the current enclosure love hiding in them. Next steps are painting and sealing the pieces, and designing the mount for the mist system and ceramic heater. This will, again, be a mildly planted enclosure with an active drainage layer, will just need to seal the bottom with the aquarium resin first.
