A simple K-pop fan map to help plan a concert trip to Seoul

2h ago

[Fan tour](https://app.celetrip.io/) With a major K-pop concert happening in **Gwanghwamun this March**, I know many international fans are planning trips to Seoul. I’m a K-pop fan based in Korea, and I work as a developer. While watching friends and online communities prepare for concerts, I kept seeing the same questions come up — where artists actually went, which places are meaningful, and how to plan a day without constantly backtracking across the city. So I put together a **free, fan-made K-pop travel map** to help visiting fans plan their trip a little more comfortably. # What this map is for * Visiting **K-pop–related places** (filming locations, cafés, meaningful spots)...

Severe Anxiety About Vaginal Birth: C-Section Options in Manitoba?

2h ago

Hi everyone, My wife is currently just over 12 weeks pregnant, and I am seeking some advice regarding delivery planning. We are based in Manitoba, Canada, where it is currently very cold and snowy. We are originally from a tropical Asian country, and my wife moved to Canada in late 2024. She has been finding the winter conditions difficult and is also missing familiar food from back home. We are waiting to meet with a gynecologist to confirm whether international travel would be safe at this stage of pregnancy. The flight duration would be approximately 35 hours. My wife is also wanting to deliver the baby in our home country, as she is very anxious and scared about vaginal delivery...

Extremely aggressive neo female

2h ago

Hello, so I have a 5 gallon a heavily planted shrimp tank that includes: between 10-15 24k yellow neos, 10 blue jelly neos, at least 5 tiny shrimplets, a large mystery snail, and a ton of bladder snails. I feed the tank every 2-3 days with either shrimp pellets, an algae wafer, or occasionally crushed bladder snails. I bought a planaria trap online and set it last night with some prosciutto with no catches. Also, my water conditions are all good and regularly tested, but I am waiting for a gh/kh kit in the mail. Recently, I’ve been seeing individual adult shrimp dead in my tank every few days (about 3 or 4 in total and over maybe 2 weeks) in my tank. I’m worried it may be connected to ...

Celebrating 4 months of gym commitment in style

3h ago

Back in October I decided to get myself together and through a lot of gym sessions I've been reading, one sweat at a time - and I thought my commitment deserved a reward. I'm happier, healthier, and have been reading so much more. It certainly makes exercise more bearable 😅

Looking for technical cofounder to build skincare tech - MVP already built and sold.

3h ago

Skincare is a $150B industry built on guesswork: no one measures what’s actually happening unless it’s a disease. No quantified feedback.  So we’re building that missing layer.   Morphace **measures hydration**, barrier strength, and inflammation via electrophysiological signals. We stream that into a software layer, which‘ll eventually become the evaluation standard for whether a product works or not.  Analogies "\[x\] but for skincare": * Fitness trainers for personalizing workouts * Glucose monitors for selecting foods * Smart rings for evaluating lifestyle habits  Oh and our device also **delivers treatments**. We’ll have the same feature as LED masks, rad...

FDA reviews potentially carcinogenic BHA chemical preservative

3h ago

The Food and Drug Administration announced Tuesday it’s undertaking a review of the chemical preservative butylated hydroxyanisole to determine if the potentially carcinogenic substance is safe for continued use. Health officials have aired concerns about BHA since its use was approved, and the National Institute of Health’s National Toxicology Program describes it as “reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen” based on studies using animals, according to the FDA. The preservative, commonly referred to as BHA, is used to preserve food and as a food contact substance to prevent contamination for food packaging materials. “BHA has remained in the food supply for decades des...

When Kashgar’s Muslim Ruler Challenged the 5th Dalai Lama to a Wizarding Duel

3h ago

TL;DR: After being kicked out of his home in Xinjiang, a religious leader named Afaq Khoja fled to Tibet and allegedly challenged the 5th Dalai Lama to a magic contest. Afaq claimed he won, forcing the Dalai Lama to send a Mongol army to reconquer his kingdom. The reality was a bit more "Game of Thrones": it was actually a brutal protection-money deal that led to decades of war and regional genocide. Hey reddit, my name is Lee Moore, I have a PhD in East Asian Languages and Literatures from the University of Oregon, I worked as an adjunct professor there, teaching Taiwanese and Chinese literature and film, and I occasionally write for *The Economist*.  I just published a boo...

The flatter your blood glucose is the slower you age. Best ways to lower and stabilize your blood glucose. With scientif...

3h ago

My friends, listen to me closely because what I am about to tell you is the single most controllable lever you have to stop the clock of aging. We have been told for years that food is just fuel, like gasoline for a car, but scientifically, this is a lie. Glucose is not just energy; at high levels, it is a signaling toxin. When your blood sugar spikes (that rush you feel after a donut or a bowl of pasta) your body receives a loud, screaming signal that says "GROW!" It activates a pathway called mTOR and shuts down your longevity sensor, AMPK. When you are constantly spiking your sugar, you are forcing your cells to divide and grow instead of repairing themselves. Aging accelerates ...

Photo dump + trip notes: Slovenia & Istria

3h ago

Our recent trip to Europe was a reminder that some of the most rewarding places are the ones *just* outside that spotlight. We’re sharing 20 photos from a week traveling through Slovenia and Istria, a region that feels quietly special, with dramatic nature, incredible food, deep history, and none of the overtourism that’s wearing people down elsewhere. Why Slovenia & Istria surprised us * Landscapes shift fast: Adriatic coastline, rolling vineyards, alpine peaks, turquoise rivers * Cities and villages feel lived-in, not staged for tourism * Prices are refreshingly sane compared to Italy/Croatia hotspots * Food punches *way* above expectations We flew into Venice Marco Polo Ai...

Wingman Ad for day game

3h ago

Hey everyone, I’m looking for a solid wingman in the South Bay (San Jose/Santa Clara area) to hit some day game spots. About Me: Background: 35-year-old Physician working in the South Bay. I’m half-Persian, half-English/Irish. Lifestyle: I’m very big on health—board-certified in Lifestyle Medicine, strictly plant-based, and active (hiking, rucking, gym). I don’t drink, so I prefer day game or low-key evening venues over the loud club scene. Approach: I follow a secure, communicative approach to dating (big fan of Adam Lane Smith’s principles). I’m looking for something long-term, so I focus on high-quality interactions rather than just "numbers." Wha...

Rivendells aren't that long (It's all relative)

3h ago

Just musing on long wheel bases, and from the POV of just how much space a bike takes up. The Clem 64cm would arguably be the longest Rivendell. In a newsletter Will quoted it as having a 52.5 inch wheel base, which comes out to 1333.5mm. A few years ago I owned a full suspension mountain bike that had a 1284mm wheel base - just 5cm shorter in overall length. That bike only had 440mm chainstays too. MY biggest hand wringing about a Rivendell was always the physical space it occupies, as I live in a small space, want to piut it on a car rack etc. But that mountain bike, whilst it was large, never felt over the top. Food for thought?

Which food processor handles tough ingredients like nuts and seeds?

3h ago

I’ve noticed that a lot of standard food processors struggle when it comes to really dense or hard ingredients. Even some mid-range models can stall or leave chunks when trying to make nut butters or grind seeds, which is super frustrating if you cook a lot of plant-based recipes. I make a lot of homemade nut butters, seed blends, and energy bars, so I need a processor that can handle heavy-duty chopping and grinding without overheating or stalling. I’ve been through a couple of cheaper models, and they just can’t keep up, which slows down my prep time a lot. For anyone who’s worked with really tough ingredients daily, what models or features actually make a difference? Is it all a...

A degree doesn’t make you a better person

3h ago

We’ve all had *that* guest who thinks having a degree gives them the right to intimidate everyone around them, right? I work at a family-run hotel, which means that if someone talks down to us we’re allowed to talk back without getting fired. We like to think we’re getting justice for all the front desk workers out there who can’t defend themselves (lol). This couple (let’s call them Jane and John) checked in less than 24 hours ago and I already have a whole list of low IQ, passive-aggressive behaviors. Mind you, these people are 50+. Ready? 1. Before they even check in, I open the gate and tell John he can park wherever he wants. He looks at me and goes, *“Am I even gonna be a...

10ish hours EA review notes from a seasoned Satisfactorian

3h ago

Probably, nobody cares, but some thoughts I had after hundredss of hours in Satisfactory and 10 hours in my first save in StarRupture. What works: the change of environment felt really refreshing, at least, in the beginning. My first death was when I left the habitat just after the first rupture because I wanted to continue building, lol, burnt to the crisp. The creatures present a good challenge in some exploration areas. The new request / pull system felt interesting to "solve". The visuals are amazing. The rail splitter/merger is a godsend after Satisfactory's splitters and mergers, it's very versatile. The built-in world grid is nice. Powered foundations and rails, o...

Customization idea: Warped avatar essence.

3h ago

Based on my original species ideas, but heavily modified with us being avatars. these would be things you can select for your character at a cost of essence to change your avatar and gameplay functions. By default you have "creation Essence" which allows you to pick some Optional mutations to your character. These come in 3 types. At the start you can pick 2 for free. (form ones are always free) and you can get more later from shrines at a cost, the thing is finding the shrines. note concept list is none exaustive. and if anyone wants to make this a mod please do. the more eyes the better. The main point here is to make an origins "mod" but with a more offical view and ...

Not surprised one bit.

3h ago

Apparently the store manager, someone who I thought had his **** together and could plan to take bad winter weather into account, seems to have not done so, nor had mine and my coworkers concerns and relating of previous winter weather and the likelihood of bad storms get taken seriously. All of that is based off the idea that “once a week” orders, the idea that a small store, about 2000 or so square feet, with narrow aisles, a small back room (about eight or so feet from wall to wall and roughly 60 feet long), could even remotely be able to store, stock, and sell out fast enough to handle when the severely backed up orders begin to arrive. It is so bad that not only is the excess be...

I built a dead simple SaaS app without knowing how to code. Here’s the "no-BS" version.

3h ago

I’ve been a UI/UX designer for over a decade, but until recently, I’d never written a single line of real code. I just finished shipping a full SaaS app-Stripe, auth, databases, the works. People make "vibe coding" sound like magic where you just wish an app into existence. Bases on my experience during those few months of vibe coding, It’s not. It’s messy, it’s a lot of back-and-forth, and it’s mostly about managing the AI like a very fast, slightly chaotic junior developer. Here is how I actually got it done without losing my mind. # 1. I don't just wing it I don't start by saying "build me a fitness app." That’s a recipe for a headache. I sp...
