Has anyone else noticed food quality feeling much better in the UK compared to Czechia?

20h ago

I came for a short travel to the UK for a while and I honestly feel the need to rant a bit. To me, the overall food quality in the UK feels noticeably higher than in Czechia. For example KFC. In the UK, the chicken actually feels like real meat, proper texture, juicy, you can tell it’s chicken. In Czechia, it often feels like white rubber, with no real texture or taste of meat itself, just whatever flavoring they add on top. Not just KFC, even as simple thing as banana that I bought from Tesco UK feels much better in texture, taste than in Czechia. While I do understand that the UK pays higher prices for imports and mostly they got a big size of market. But it’s still frustrating that ...

Using "I" or "We" when it's just me - local tech business

1d ago

I've run the gamut as a "techie" guy - my Saturday job as a teenager was installing Windows 95 off floppy disks. My last full time employer was IBM, where I was a senior technical consultant on government contracts... long story short, I know some stuff about computers. I got laid off about a year ago (along with about 70,000 other engineer types) - because AI will apparently manage all the infrastructure these days... (I can't see how that could possibly go wrong, but I digress). On reflection, what I really find rewarding and enjoy is helping people. I want to help your granny make her first Tesco online grocery delivery, or get Dad's new smart TV playing thr...

Lost Garmin

4d ago

Hi All, Just wondering where would be the best places to look for a lost watch ? My Girlfriend was in Tesco (Market Green) this morning and while walking back to the house she noticed the watch was missing. She checked with Tesco security and they didn’t find anything. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

UK has a BIG problem with outsourcing. Its not AI.

4d ago

I work in tech as a Lead/Senior software engineer and have been in the industry for 10 years. After over a year of unemployment in the sector, I finally managed to land a job and even finding work in Tesco stacking shelves was tough. The UK job market is toast. Honestly, I can already see this job disappearing soon, but not because of AI. It’s because of outsourcing to Eastern Europe and India. This has been happening for decades, and we’ve already seen the cycle before, work gets outsourced to India, then comes back to the UK because the quality wasn’t good enough. Now, with the NI tax being placed on UK employers and the India trade deal, it’s becoming far cheaper for Indian wor...

AITAH for dating my bf the same time as my ex?

4d ago

I’m sorry if this is confusing and I can provide more information if needed but I was dating a guy called C from march 2024 to august 2025. D is my current bf. TW/ mentions of abuse & SA In January of 2025 C had told me he wanted to break up because he couldn’t balance a relationship and sixthform at the same time. I begged him for a month to get back with me and he eventually did. Me and D have known each other since I was 14 (I’m 17 now) but we would only really have 2-3 convos a year and I sort of forgot about him but D msged me out of the blue in jan 2025 because his uncle had passed away, he told his friends about it but they weren’t supporting him and brushed it off s...

Where can I buy gochugaru (Korean chilli flakes) in Belfast?

6d ago

Hi I’ve been trying to find gochugaru (Korean chilli flakes/red pepper powder) around Belfast, but I haven’t had any luck so far. I’ve checked the Tesco stores near me and some places around The Lee Oriental/Asian Market area, as well as some asian stores online like the hui bai jia store in their website but no luck 🙃. Does anyone know if any local shops actually stock it? Or if there’s a specific Asian supermarket that usually has it in stock?like would it be stock in the Asian store near Ormeau park? Thanks in advance!

If you're a shy, sheltered person thinking of going to university, please consider this

7d ago

Edit: I should have realised that my experience was affected by my own biases, which were in turn moulded by my prior experiences. Another point that came to mind is that you might have been born in a big city, in which case you have more freedom, as long as its not London. Then, you already are familiar and have roots in a place that would offer more job opportunities than, say, Exeter, or Oxford, or St Andrews Another point that I thought of, forgot, then a commenter reminded me: If you're shy, unsure, or mentally unhealthy, maybe take a gap year to work, explore yourself, travel, or otherwise just make yourself stronger before you go Context: I went to the University of Exeter. ...

Why British mince is costing you £9.25 a pack

The idea of “burgernomics” has long been used as an informal way of comparing national economies, essentially by using the Big Mac as a measure of purchasing power. But the cost of a burger is also, of course, a barometer of something more basic: the price of beef itself. Over the past few years, this has notably [soared in Britain](https://archive.vn/o/A4dIg/https://www.telegraph.co.uk/bus...

Forecourt Eye - Was at work at the time alleged. England.

10d ago

I guess the title says it all really. I received a letter from Forecourt Eye yesterday, alleging that I stole £10.03 of fuel from a local Tesco Express on 14th December 2025 at 11:25am, and they would like me to pay, along with an 'administration fee' of £35. The thing is, I was working at a market at the time of the alleged offense, and neither the image of my vehicle, nor the 'receipt' show the date. I can get statements from plenty of people to prove where I was at the time. If payment isn't made within 14 days, a further £60 will be added. At this point I have until 20th January 2026 to pay without further charges being added. Any advice would be appreciat...
