Stop Building "Innovative" Web Apps. Start Rebuilding What's Already Broken.

20h ago

Small businesses are still using pen and paper in 2026. Not because they're cheap. Because nobody's built the right web app. They have tried expensive software. Didn't work. Went back to spreadsheets. https://preview.redd.it/jx0ron906njg1.jpg?width=1956&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=12848499a19d11d4a75f95802da2d8b2933397ef # The "Solved Wrong" Market Most founders think the opportunity is in unsolved problems. Wrong. The real money is in badly solved problems. Walk into any independent coffee shop on a Saturday morning. Ask the manager what their biggest headache is. They won't say "customer acquisition" or "marketing....

Eufycam Floodlights no longer record 24/7

1d ago

…without a second HD in the homebase, it won’t record continuously. WHY DO I NEED A SECOND DRIVE ON A 2TB HD THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN RECODING 24/7?! This. Company. Is. Getting. Worse. And. Worse.

Recommendations large amounts of video for someone constantly on the move

1d ago

Hi guys, im in a point of my life where Im constantly travelling and don't have a good "homebase" to put data storage devices in. I live very light and most of my stuff comes with me in my car. I live in canada so this means a lot of temperature changes. I have about 6TB worth of mostly video and photos. Likely to triple in the next 2 years or so. Right now I have 10 TB of hdds and 8 TB of ssds with the 6TB backed up in each medium. I also have 1TB of cloud storage where I tried my best to pick the "most significant" or my favourites to store. I also have uploaded quite a large chunk of it to a private youtube channel though i dont really have too much trust ...

What's the purpose of the Homebase?

3d ago

Saw Costco has the doorbell camera on sale but it doesn't come with a homebase. Thought you needed the homebase to store video but it says the device can store it. Would it be necessary to get a homebase? What extra functionality does it provide?

Finally ditched Ring for Eufy (The Good, The Bad, and the "Wait, Where’s HomeKit?")

4d ago

After the recent Ring subscription price hikes and some lingering concerns over their data-sharing privacy practices, I finally pulled the trigger and swapped the entire ecosystem for Eufy. I wanted to share my experience for anyone else sitting on the fence. # The Setup I went pretty deep into the ecosystem to ensure full coverage: * **1x** HomeBase 3 (S380) * **1x** Video Doorbell E340 * **2x** SoloCam E42 * **1x** Indoor Camera * **2x** Keypads * **1x** Eufy Smart Display * **Multiple** Entry Sensors (E20) # The Pros: Why I Switched * **Zero Monthly Fees:** This is the big one. Saving that monthly "subscription tax" feels great. * **Local Storage:** Having everything stored...

Looking for guidance on Eufy video doorbells

5d ago

I was hoping to pick someone's brain on Eufy doorbells, specifically between the S330 and E340. Both are their dual camera video doorbell options, and in my case I'd be doing a wired install so the battery life / replacement doesn't really matter to me. However, I do want the ability to store the footage automatically on something that isn't \*just\* the doorbell onboard storage, in case the doorbell itself were to get stolen / damaged. The S330 can only work with the Homebase 2, and the E340 works (only?) with the Homebase 3. I have nothing Eufy in my home right now. What I am wondering is: * When either camera is used with their respective Homebase, does the footage ...

Another, “Help me set up at my ‘new’ 110 year old house!”

5d ago

TLDR: Another “Help me set up at my new 110 year old house!” Starting with HomeKit for ease of setup and familiarity, but planning to swap to HA and probably Unifi Protect as time and finances permit. TIA! I dipped my toes into making my home smart in 2022, but now we're moving into a more long-term house and I'd like to get more serious about it. I’ve been doing research, but it’s daunting trying to build an entire locally hosted system, let alone trying to set up something “temporary” as we move in that will be as compatible as possible with the end goal. Eventually I'd love a locally hosted and stored smart home with security sensors (window/door, occupan...

NAS to Homebase 3?

5d ago

Does the Homebase 3 support storing recordings to a NAS? I see on their site that you can set up a NAS as an alternative to a Homebase but would like to know if you could have both for extra storage. Thanks!

Homebase 2 -> Homebase 3

6d ago

I have two HB2 and 6 exterior cams (cam2 and cam2c) working on two different properties. I want to add an indoor camera, preferably one that can do 360 pan and tilt. However, it seems the only cams that works with HB2 is E/2/2c/2 Pro/2c Pro. I am now debating whether I should upgrade to HB3 just to have an extended list of cameras to have centralized storage on the HB3. Anyone using any indoor 360 pan & tilt cameras that works with HB3? Which models are most useful? If I do the HB3 upgrade, what can I do with the two HB2? They can't even be used as boat anchors or paper weights. The other alternative is to stay with existing HB2 and cams, and get new cams that are indepe...

Eufy app Face ID?

6d ago

I just received a eufy security system (homebase and sensors) and I'm setting them up through the app. However I'm wondering about the app itself. How do I get the app to use face ID on iphone? For example Arlo secure has a face ID or passcode to get into the app? Additionally, are there critical alerts? Like if the app detects something but I'm asleep at a friend's house how will I know? Additionally what's the difference between the eufy app and the eufy security app? All the stuff online says to use eufy security app, however that app does not exist on the app store. Any information is appreciated. I'd be surprised if there's no way to add a passco...

Am I Romanticizing Digital Nomad Life in Italy? 🇮🇹

12d ago

My partner and I are in our mid-30s, no kids. We have the opportunity starting this year to start living abroad (whilst still working as digital nomads) anywhere in the world. We are currently based in the U.S. and our income is $130k usd before taxes. Our housing in the U.S. is secured (i.e. we can come and go from our homebase, so we plan to spend 6 months abroad, 6 months back "home", repeat.) I've been stressing "moving" to Italy (I have dual-citizenship, he does not), to reconnect with my roots, finally become fluent in Italian, and embrace "La Dolce Vita." Partner is 100% on board. We'd likely stay in various vacation homes across the country...

Airsoft Atlanta Summary

15d ago

Hey guys, I'm a former Airsoft Atlanta employee of 8 years. Prior to 2023, Airsoft Atlanta provided the best service and parts availability across Georgia. We genuinely strived to make every customer feel like they're coming home and just picking up some goodies. We had a staff of 4 in the newly opened store front and 2 at our warehouse location that remained a tight work family. On May 2023, Airsoft Atlanta was sold to Marc Cloutier. None of the staff was given any notice on the selling of the business. We just walked in one day, and boom, Airsoft Atlanta is gone. Day 1, Marc accused the staff of stealing his inventory, when the previous owner, Eric, had dismissed some of his olde...

Allen and Torx key sets

15d ago

How critical is it to get brands like Wera or Park for bike use? I have bought homebase own brand ball head L shaped Allen keys and when I lost them I got Silverine branded or mk branded from my local hardware store (just up the road in my village). To me the ball headed Silverine ones work best well so far and much better than Topeak branded or other similar bike accessory branded multi tool sets. Both in ease of using just one L shaped Allen key Vs the multi tool. But also the Topeak or other decent branded multi tool Allen keys seemed to not be to as high a tolerance on the actual size of their Allen keys. I've heard the better brands have a closer tolerance in size so are less lik...

Today’s purchases

17d ago

My usual DT that’s a mile from my house is usually pretty well-stocked, but I decided to hit up one about 15 mins away today. That one turned out to also be well-stocked, but with a lot of different stuff than my homebase. My usual one has all the Drunk Elephant dupes, the snail stuff, etc. This one had none of that stuff but lots of other fun stuff. So basically what I’m saying is between the two stores I look like a DT hoarder.

I’ve been working on a clean Homebase Command Center.

21d ago

Hey everyone, It’s been exactly two weeks since I first shared the early build of my Save the World website. Since then, I’ve been living in the code to turn your feedback into a fully functional "Command Center." We’ve also officially moved to our permanent home: [**https://www.fortoffans.com**](https://www.fortoffans.com) Here is the intel on the biggest updates from the last 14 days: # 1. 🔍 Commander Search (The "Big" Feature) This has been the most intensive part of the build. I’ve spent the majority of the last two weeks building the backend bridge to pull live player data. * **Search Your Profile:** You can now enter your Commander name to pull up y...

Intergalactic Lost Colony Found (news article) [Long Laniakea Horizons]

\[copy of the first 6 images' text below\] **Long Lost Colony Reaches Record Population** Last night, after the successful re-contact with the lost isolated colony of Hasila’s Clear Ark, at NGC-3726 (local name Petitiris Galaxy) 46mly away, the total count of base organic humans has surpassed the mark of 20 trillion people, spread across over a million systems.  And this amazing new achievement for humanity comes with a touching story to tell. ^(Picture of the long lost planet Neverthorn, taken by the crew of Hasila’s Hope) It was by the genesis time 20:46 gmt of 17-01-8026 that the flotilla nicknamed Hasila’s Hope had transmitted its confirmation of contact and immediate as...

Updating…

29d ago

Newly installed S380 HomeBase with 3 S350 cameras. Had all 3 online for a hot minute but now 2 of them are showing ‘Updating…’ I’m currently remote from their location. Tried restarting the HomeBase from the app. Is this something solved by only power cycling the cameras? Is this indicative of a poor WiFi signal?

Considering the move to Scottsdale, AZ!

30d ago

Hey everyone! I know there is a bunch of these posts already but I wanted to make my own and provide some specifics into my lifestyle. My husband and I are recently married, 26 and 27, and have been searching for a place to buy our first house and make a homebase. My husband was born in AZ and went to college there for a bit, he loves it. I am from Washington State and have lived throughout Washington and Southern California. We both love the sun and weather is a priority, why we left Washington! I have been to Scottsdale many times and always enjoy it. We both love being outside and hiking and camping. He loves to golf. I love trying new restaurants/happy hours, long walks around our curre...

[Project] Built a flight tracking tool for MSFS2024 - looking for beta testers

30d ago

Hey r/MicrosoftFlightSim! 👋 I've been building **SimFlyCorp** - a flight tracking platform for MSFS2024 - and I'm looking for beta testers to help shape it. ## What it does The idea was simple: I wanted better flight statistics than the default logbook + some progression system to keep me motivated. So I built: **📊 Automatic flight tracking** - SimConnect bridge captures every flight - Landing analysis (vertical speed, G-force, ILS deviation) - Flight history with stats **🎖️ Pilot ranking system** - Progress from Cadet → Pilot → Captain → Commander → Ace - Points based on distance flown + landing quality - Monthly rank resets keep it competitive **🏆 Achi...
