When I travel abroad, I usually try to reserve a meal to try the local version of familiar chains. This is a surprisingly good way to understand local tastes, as global chains *glocalise* their products to survive in diverse markets. Here are some of my observations: \- McDonald’s in Asia (this encompasses East, Southeast, South and West) often has fried chicken (as in bone-in thighs and breasts, not just chicken nuggets). And they make it *way* better than KFC. This is something I wish the brand brought back to the West. \- Subway and Taco Bell, where they exist, seem to cater almost exclusively to Western expats. Salem Soup Squad needs support with meals Saturday from 2 pm to 4 pm! It's food for our unhoused neighbors with no strings attached.
