i’m getting my tongue pierced tomorrow, any advice?

3h ago

I’m getting my tongue pierced tomorrow (the 15th) for my birthday next month (the 27th), since i wanted to be able to eat foods without any issues of a healing piercing and i think 6 weeks is the healing time for a tongue piercing. i love kissing my boyfriend and i know i cant like makeout with him or give him head or anything like that while it heals, but can i still give him pecks on the lips? at least on the cheeks? when is it safe to use tongue or to give head again? i’m also worried about what i can eat for the first first few days and after that since im picky. i drink pure cranberry to avoid utis and pineapple juice every morning alongside kefir and chocolate protein shakes ever...

What's the best AI model for a comprehensive fitness consultant role? (Use cases inside)

3h ago

Hi all, I'm looking for community input on a practical application of current AI models: using one as an all-in-one fitness and nutrition advisor. I'm trying to determine which model is best suited for a multi-faceted role that requires more than just text generation. Here are the core use cases I've defined: 1. **Personalized Workout Generation:** Creating dynamic training programs based on user inputs (goals, equipment, time constraints, progression). 2. **Workout Data Interpretation:** Analyzing exported data (CSVs, screenshots of graphs) from wearables like Garmin or Apple Watch to provide performance insights and actionable feedback. 3. **Meal Planning & Nutr...

Dangerous “Coach“ that Liv Models Herself Off

3h ago

Meet Kiki Athanas, she’s one of about 10 people that Liv follows religiously. She’s a self advertised “Skinny Coach” who uses terms like “Intuitive Eating” and “Food Freedom” to target women in recovery and scam them into thinking she’s an actual qualified provider of Intuitive Eating. For those who aren’t familiar, Intuitive Eating is a MEDICAL intervention created to help those with eating disorders recover fully. IE was created and popularized by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch who are both Registered Dietitians who are CERTIFIED eating disorder specialists. Meaning they both have multiple degrees in this and studied IE in an academic setting, contributing decades of ha...

Is it lack of competence or undertrained?

3h ago

Recently I started resistance training and while searching about supplements and making diet modifications I felt like I know nothing about foods and social media is filled with many people who claimed to know more. I felt like I was incompetent and cant advice properly if someone asks without giving vague answers. U see everywhere that Consult your doctor before taking this supplement or “Talk to your doctor before changing your diet I always wonder are we really trained well enough in food science and nutrition to give informed advice? During MBBS maybe we had a few lectures on vitamins and nutritional deficiencies and we know all the textbook stuff like clinical symptoms , treatment pa...

Seeking Acne Scarring Repair Advice After 4 Months of Peating

3h ago

Hi everyone - I've struggled with acne and scarring for much of my adult life. When I was 18, I had pretty severe cystic acne across my forehead and ended up taking Accutane. While that cleared up the acne itself, it left me with deep scarring and some discoloration that I still carry to this day. I’ve been following Ray’s principles for the past 4 months now - completely overhauled my diet to emphasize high-quality protein, lots of dairy, daily gelatin/glycine intake, nutrient-dense foods, etc. The good news is that my ongoing skin issues, like seborrheic dermatitis, have largely improved with this shift and I’m encouraged by that, even though there's still a ways to go on ...

Is this food I’ve been using ok?

3h ago

Just trying to do the best for the fish. This is the food I’ve been using. I kind of mix it up each day. Like maybe one day I do an algae wafer and some bug bites. Then the following day I would do like half a tubifex cube and some bug bites. The types of fish I have in my tank: pearl gouramis, glass catfish, bumblebee goby’s, panda garra, and some ottos. I also maybe once a month get some live brine shrimp to throw in as well. Am I doing ok on feeding or is there something different or better I should do.

Time for an honest conversation about Luteolin

3h ago

I’ve been taking Luteolin for over a year now. I get why the conversation around it has been poisoned — the mod has a conflict of interest, and that understandably makes people uncomfortable. But we need to be adults about it. Put the drama aside and look at the actual substance. Because after a year, it’s honestly strange that this *still* isn’t a regular topic here. We talk about allulose. I see MCT oil mentioned. Apple cider vinegar. Electrolytes. All good tools. But Luteolin? It’s like it’s taboo. For me, Luteolin didn’t just help — it made a huge difference. I’d failed to quit sugar a half dozen times before. With Luteolin, the cravings dried up after about three we...

(Cross-posted in t2diabetes thread) Using a Constant Glucose Monitor to manage diabetes with ARFID?

3h ago

Hey yall. Long post, I originally posted it in the diabetes sub but thought I might post here too, so the post is geared more towards folks in that sub, but I'm sure i'm not the only diabetic with ARFID so I'm posting here too in case anyone has anything to add. I am recently diagnosed t2 Diabetic just 2 months ago. I started on metformin right away and 2 weeks ago started ozempic. Doc hasn't even recommended getting a monitor and starting finger pokes yet, but I had a pretty bad low for the first time the other day so I'm def planning on getting one after my next appt next month. I'm trying to work on food stuff but its really hard for me because I suffer fr...

“I think I’ll always love you, Fox.”  The words rang in my ears. I sat looking up at Leah with emotions bubbling into my cold cheeks. The words were scratching at the back of my mouth, but nothing came out. She stared. I stared. I put my head in my hands. *Say anything!* My brain shook awake my tongue. I stood up after a moment and opened my mouth to say something, but before the stale air had the chance to carry my empty words, the door had closed behind her. The cold filled my gaping mouth and covered every inch of my gums. Gnashing my teeth closed, I ran to the handle, turned the cold metal, and threw the plywood slab to the side.  “Wait!” I desperately threw my voice down...

Mitochondrial function & supplements to support it

3h ago

I want to get my mitochondria in the best shape for energy production/efficient operation but there are a lot of supplements, fasting, autophagy, etc… topics that are discussed when I have been researching. Now I am at the phase of wanting to implement some of these protocols but honestly don’t know where to start (information overload). Does anyone have any protocols or recommendations on where to start or things that have worked well for you? I’m 37, 3 kids under 5, 165ish lbs 5’10, ~10-15% body fat, eat clean (whole foods, no ultra processed foods) 90% of the time and also enjoy pizza, ice cream, etc… the other 10%. Thank you!

5 months in - 54# gone

3h ago

Y'alls' before-during-after pictures have been a real inspiration for me, so here goes. I'm 5 months in, 54 # lighter, and more hopeful than I've ever been in 53 years of losing and regaining weight that Zepbound is a real solution. I did 4 weeks at 2.5 (starting Feb. 14), 4 weeks at 5, 13 weeks at 7.5, and had my first 10 this week. The side effects (gastro mostly, some fatigue) seem to be pretty much gone, and I'm more than halfway to my first goal of 180. I started dieting at 19 after struggling with body image in the Twiggy era in 1972 — when I weighed a whopping 152 at 5'6" tall and thought I was grossly overweight. I've lost and gained hund...

Scared to weigh in

3h ago

I’m constantly in a calorie deficit, no matter what..and even when I’m on track, hitting my step goal, protein goals, and of course calorie limit, I’m still paranoid that I’m going to gain weight. When I see the number drop I can’t weigh in for days after because I’m terrified the numbers going to shoot up, and it’s completely irrational because I don’t over eat, I don’t miscalculate anything, I don’t make room for mistakes. Everything I eat and drink is measured/weighed and logged. I use my food scale with everything! I don’t eat something if I know I can’t measure it accurately. I walk in a circle in my living room for 2 hours or more, everyday to reach 10k steps...

Small senior foster dog eating cat food???

3h ago

I am fostering a little 9 year old chi mix for around two weeks. The plan is for her to be reunited with her owner once they come home from being in the hospital. She came with a few things including cat food... Felix wet food to be exact. Which is worse? switching her usual food when she is only staying for 2 weeks? Or keep giving her cat food? cause my gut says to give her dog food cause she is a dog... Isnt cat food way higher in protein?
