Zero waste, naturalism, veganism

1h ago

As someone who very much believes in veganism, loves veganism, sometimes it can clash with what is natural and zero waste I do not desire to take any vitamin supplements at all, I want to live a completely natural life and zero waste. As far as I know natural veganism meaning no speciality meats/cheeses etc means to u have to take at least a b12 supplement and possibly even vitamin d depending if you’re able to get enough sunlight where you live, where I live it’s hard we have 8 month winters As far a so know the soul use to more nutrient dense in b12 but isn’t anymore due to essentially capitalism. Before people come for me for using a phone/Reddit not being natural, a phone and i...

Successful run of my meat-grinder one-shot "The Wretch Hole"

1h ago

Last night, I had successfully concluded my one-shot The Wretch Hole, a meat-grinder that pits expendable level-one Vault Dwellers against what's essentially a horror-movie slasher >!and his friends!<. For those who'd be interested in me running this game for them or for me to share my one-shot for those who'd like to run it, I'm posting the below as spoilers; contact me if you'd like info on this one-shot. The plot starts with an explanation on Vault 42, a seemingly normal Vault but features a chute that'd allow outsiders to slide into the Vault from the surface. After nearly 200 years of nobody taking the chute, they one person eventually comes ...

my advice for test related nausea/anxiety

1h ago

these won't help everyone but I wanted to put them out there anyway. Feeling sick before any exam absolutely *****, especially when you can't tell if it's illness or psychosomatic. IF you know it's probably anxiety related: \- Water. Drink water. Slow if you need to. \- Eat something, at least a little bit, an empty stomach will make you feel worse. Even little things like fruit snacks and protein bars help. Yogurt is also a good go to. If you have time, oatmeal or rice. \- Box breathing, a technique where you breath in for 4, hold for 4, and then exhale for 4. It might not help instantly but it can get you back on track. If you like breathing exercises, rootd is an...

Woke up with a bald spot

1h ago

I have already reached out to my vet and am awaiting their reply but thought I’d ask to see if anyone has had a similar experience. My 17 year old boy was diagnosed with stage three kidney disease last week and admitted for IV fluids for 24 hrs. He came home from the hospital in ROUGH shape - the gabapentin hit him so hard he couldn’t even walk (he was walking on his wrists with his paws tucked under) and took a long time to wear off. He is on mirtazapine for appetite stimulation, a phosphate binder, and PEG to keep him regular. He’s improved a lot the last few days and is eating his renal diet kibble supplemented with wet food (he’s very picky about wet food and won’t eat t...

Little birb is unwell

1h ago

Hey guys! I'm completely new here and your help would be much appreciated. Two months ago I found a little yellow parrot (should be a kakariki) on the street, completely alone with dogs barking and lurking at him, so I took it home with me to find its owner. Long story short the owner never turned up, so the little guy is still with us. We fed it all the right things, took it out of the cage (unfortunately small, but that's all we already had) to fly around and to play. All went great, it seemed fine, it ate good, sang and was overall an active bird. A week ago it started behaving weirdly: always sleepy and generally weak, but never stopped eating or drinking normally. Alarmed,...

My Betta is Healthy and Energetic but Refuses Commercial Food entirely

1h ago

I need some advice on a very picky (and predatory) Betta. As you can see in the photo, he is very healthy, active, and constantly patrols the tank. However, I’m having a major struggle with his diet. The Issue: He completely refuses any commercial food—flakes, pellets, or freeze-dried. I’ve tried high-quality brands like Omega One, Sera, and Tropical, but he just spits them out or ignores them entirely. His Current Diet (What he actually eats): • Insects: He eagerly hunts mosquitoes and crane flies (Tipula) that I catch for him. • Fresh Meat: He will eat tiny pieces of unseasoned, boiled chicken. • The Shrimp Problem: Most interestingly, he has started hunting my Blue Dream ...

Business Opportunities for Philosophers

1h ago

We have all heard the slur that Philosophy does not translate into anything useful. And many colleagues resign to this characterization, allowing themselves be bullied into a corner and reciting tired teachings in hopes of edging out a living. Sadly, all this coping with expectations often does not pay. And our massive private contributions to humanity are not adequately rewarded either. Philosophy prevents us from making ends meet. I have seen this addressed on a departmental level with corporate branding on clothing, buildings, publications, and even department names. This is usually not an option for individual colleagues. Only some institutions share their sponsorship bounties. But do ...

Can anyone explain these calories?

1h ago

This lasagna is 1.2kg serves four people so that should be 300g each. 100g is 163 calories so 489 calories for 300g. But the packaging says one portion is 462 calories??

Injury and the scale

1h ago

Has anyone else seen a correlation between physical injury and the scale plateauing? I took my first shot at the end of March at 219# and saw immediate loss the first week - 8lbs, of which I’m sure a large part was water weight and inflammation. Was feeling great, walking every day and eating 1200 -1400 calories from Whole Foods and prioritizing protein. In the 2nd week, i dropped another 2# to 209 - and then tore my meniscus. Since then I have been forced to stay off my feet as much as possible while it heals up. My diet has not changed and I’m still drinking a ton of liquids, but the scale has been stalled since that date, occasionally fluctuating between 209-211. I’m mid menst...

AITAH for dumping a man who lets my parents pay for our dates?

1h ago

I 30F dumped a man 41M who let my parents pay for our dates. I am a medical student who lives at home. During this time, I am financially supported by my parents. It is an incredible privilege to have their support, and I am afforded comforts like lunches and dinners, but I am not wealthy by any means, and neither are my hard-working parents. About a month ago, I met a man 41M through a close family friend who I agreed to go out with. We are the same religion from similar countries, both intentionally dating, and these were the foundations on which the date was set up. He also knew my life context. On the first date, we went to a romantic bar. The date was going very well. I ordered a ...

Restarted but still gaining...

1h ago

After losing 35lbs and getting to a healthy BMI, I made the decision and tapered off slowly over 4months. However, 2months after that the return of the food noise had beat me and I put over 14lbs back on. I restarted and have just made it to my third pen and 7.5mg. This time, though I've had zero side effects, including no cessation of hunger, and the food noise gremlin is in control. I'm still gaining, or very much struggling to even stay the same weight, let alone lose. Has anyone experienced this? Have any idea why it would no longer have any effect? I get that I was on it for a year before, but I'd atleast expected to have some effect. I'm eating plenty of prote...

99 lbs down, first photo in a long time that didn’t make me want to immediately

1h ago

Posting this because it is honestly the first progress photo I have taken that I did not ****. I went from 275 to 176 over about 14 to 15 months on reta. Started at 1.5mg weekly and eventually worked up to 5mg weekly. Not trying to act like it did all the work for me, but it made consistency way easier because I wasn’t dealing with food noise nonstop. Part of why I am posting this is that I finally had a picture that looked like the work I felt like I was doing. Biggest thing for me was just keeping it simple. Walk more, eat a little cleaner, get protein in, and don’t let one off day turn into a bad week. That combo worked way better than trying to be perfect. Goal is still about 165, so...

Fat loss + recovery focus (sleep priority) – is it even worth looking into peptides yet?

2h ago

I’m starting to look into peptides / biohacking approaches and wanted to get pointed in the right direction before going too deep. **Stats:** 34M 6’5” / 260 lbs Higher body fat % (currently overweight) **Lifestyle:** Running 5–7 days/week Lifting \~3x/week Sleep \~8 hours/night (this is a priority for me) Intermittent fasting Diet is mostly clean, but I struggle with **overeating calories**, not hunger control High protein focus, only drink water Take basic vitamins/supplements **Health:** No known conditions No allergies Haven’t had bloodwork done yet, but planning to **Goals:** Lose body fat Get leaner (not trying to get huge) Maintain/gain some strength Impr...

Fresh run of notorious rage extreme

2h ago

Sample deal hitting the mail this weekend will feature Notorious Rage Extreme (limited). This is a brand new, fresh run, so we’ll see if it hits as good as it did a few months ago. What are people’s thoughts on Notorious Rage Extreme? Also, I’ve noticed there seems to be a lot of confusion between the regular Notorious Rage and the Extreme version. Honestly, I think Full Spectrum did themselves a bit of a disservice by making them look too **** similar.

Ten habits that helped me.

2h ago

Ten habits that helped me, when taking Mounjaro. I started in June 2025. Starting at 20 st (280 lbs or 127 kg), my current weight is now 13 st 13lb (195 lbs or 88.5 kg) which reflects a loss of 6 st 1 lb (85 lbs or 38.5 kg). Integrating multiple habits into daily life often cite popular rules like the “21/90 rule” (21 days for habit, 90 days for lifestyle). Circulated anecdotally, they are unsupported by science. It likely requires sustained consistency over 3-6 months (or more) as routines compound and feel natural.  Factors speeding it up include daily repetition, cues/rewards, starting small, and missing occasional days (which doesn’t derail progress).  Persistence matters more...
