I’m trying to track down the original brown version of a plush bunny I had as a child, likely purchased from CVS in Muncie, Indiana around Easter, probably in 1992. Through a lot of searching, I’ve found that the bunny mold was originally made by Main Joy Limited (Kowloon, Hong Kong), and the design was later reused by Dan Dee. These bunnies all share the same mold: round body, down-facing ears, stubby but fluffy tail, plastic eyes, and small paws tucked close to the body. Some have lace-trimmed bows or floral ribbons depending on the year and store. I’m hoping someone here might recognize my childhood bear that was gifted to me by my dad who was the original owner. • Likely from the late 1970s or early 1980s. • He’s a teddy bear with a bright orange body, yellow face and ears, and plastic eyes. • Originally wore plaid overalls that were sewn on, though those are gone now. I grew up in the US Virgin Islands where Kmart was king, I still keep up with the happening of of the territory and two stores on two different islands are on the road to out of business so unfortunately, I don’t think it’s gonna be long before the second one closes on St. Thomas. So Kmart, maybe in the history books for good by the end of 2025.
