It feels like Burger King and McDonalds are pivoting to the clientele that has gone to fast casual for a burger. Those willing to pay close to or above $10. I haven’t had either, seen the heavy push on advertising and the reviews here and there, leads me to believe that they’re competing with five guys and chilis and don’t care about the more cash strapped customer. They seem to think customers left because their main offering was ****. No, those that left did so because the cost and quality and convenience went jn opposite directions. Fast food lost me not because of a better burger elsewhere but because of the value proposition that got broke somewhere around Covid.

Last night I accepted an order for Burger King shortly before midnight. I drove 10 minutes there (it was a good order) and got in the drive thru. The employee told me he didn't have the order. He said they stop receiving orders at 12:30 (they closed at 1. He would have received the order before this though, but he seemed annoyed and didn't care to help. Ironic that BK slogan is still Have it Your Way and they double down with it in their new Campaign Whopper by You, but the app no longer allows customization to add any extras. It only allows deletions. Both McDonald’s and Wendy’s allow extra onion or extra pickle, etc in their apps, but BK no longer does. BK is actually my preferred fast food, but this is very frustrating. Originally, the social media boards like Reddit said this was an individual Franchise decision, but I looked up many locations in the Las Vegas metro area and none of them allow any extras as an option anymore.
