Stores with clothes like AE and Hollister but for older women?

6d ago

In love with the looks, fabrics, and patterns but looking for a bit more coverage as a 44 year old 🤣 Lane Bryant and Torrid are not it for me, the fabric does not feel nice to me. I feel like most places just have “old lady” clothes - not for grandmas, for people more my age but I don’t want to be that person anymore. US, size XL, 18 give or take. I wear an XL in Aerie pants but need a 3X for Torrid leggings.

i looove thrifting in america. when i want to buy clothes, my first thought would be to check the thrift store instead of the mall. I search for brands like miss me, true religion, hollister, abercrombie, aero, von dutch, stussy, rl, harley davidson, juicy and more! im going to kuala lumpur, singapore, ho chi min, beijing, and hong kong this summer. I want to get cute clothes for cheap there. But every single store is like a cheap tacky brandy melville polyester knockoff. The only way to find cheap and cute clothes is through curated thrifting. I dont have experience thrifting in asia. what's the authenticity like there? Every store looks like it's has its own section for vivienne...

I know where they got the clothes for the Incubus movie

8d ago

I grew up in the same area of South Florida where the Incubus was filmed and watching this video was such a trip for me because I instantly recognized a lot of the locations from the clips. And then she started talking about the clothes and I was like, "I've seen those clothes before". There used to be this weird little boutique in an outdoor shopping mall/mixed-use area of West Palm Beach called CityPlace that sold clothes just liked that, when I was in high school around 2009-2012. They truly had the most bizarre pieces that blew my mind as a pretty sheltered Hollister-frequenting teen and embarrassingly, I even owned a shirt pretty similar to the super shiny colorful one J...

Hollister Clothes ARE THE ANSWER!!

8d ago

I’m 4’11 and 90 lbs and I could NOT find cute jeans for the life of me!! However, ever since I discovered the beauty of Hollister’s 000-short clothes, my life have changed for the better. SHORT, SKINNY GIRLIES- RUN TO HOLLISTER. (well… figuratively speaking because they don’t carry the smaller sizes in some stores, only online lol) They have so many petite options unlike other stores that only have a few items for us. I bought like 5 pairs of jeans from hollister, all in different styles: bootcut, flare, baggy, straight- they got it all! I even bought a few sweatpants and gym pants from them! Fits PERFECTLY. Not only do they have amazing bottoms- the tops are fitting as well! The...

I just placed this order!

Am so excited! I love Hollister. I think I’ve been Placing a 4-8 item order every other month the last year. Their clothes are just pretty good quality and I wait for the 25%off sale. I LOVE that style Jean. I bought two in my last order for the first time and I was scared cuz I prefer my clothes very tight but I love how the low rise baggy looks with baby tops on me. Also so excited for the open neck black tee. I have three colors of it in the long sleeve and it’s extremely flattering for my collar bones and a small choker necklace is so cute with it. And I tried on that black skirt in store in a size 6 cuz that was the smallest they had but I grabbed the fabric to see how it would loo...

Clothing store recommendations

18d ago

Hello! My parents are travelling to Tokyo in May and offered to buy me some clothing while they were there. I don’t know any Japanese brands or even what kind of clothing you can find there. Im after very girly, sweet looking kind of clothing, I can’t seem to add photos here but nothing over the top frilly. Sort of y2k hollister and ambercrombie and fitch blouses, mini shorts, zip up jackets if you get the vibe! If anyone could recommend some specific stores for them to go to that would be awesome! Thanks :)

Does Hollister carry xxs in store?

22d ago

i am about to travel to a country with Hollister and I am planning to shop there as the country I currently live in does not have Hollister so I have been shopping online so far and it’s slightly more expensive. I am a size xxs and 000 short in Hollister clothing but I recently just heard that in store Hollister doesn’t really carry xxs. is this true?😭

new v neck top review

22d ago

Theyre very cute and 96% cotton!!! I think this was part of their unreleased y2k drop, since I found it on clearance for $7 each at the outlet store. I will say, it def feels tighter than their other clothes! Im usually a S and I grabbed a M bc that’s all they had, but the fit was similar to a S! The fabric is pretty thick esp at the hems and it’s rubbed which I like

where to find affordable zip up hoodies in the uk?

34d ago

hi, i'm looking for some affordable graphic/y2k/print zip up hoodies, slightly oversized. i like styles from Zidouri and Episodes clothing but they're a little too pricy (£80-100) as i wanna buy a few. anyone know any good uk stores? they don't have to be streetwear brands, just any shop that sells smth like what im looking for. i've searched stradivarius and hollister but i cant find either anything oversized, or graphic (i've attached a reference pic)

Why are all the designs for the Men’s genuinely terrible.

38d ago

I work at Hollister myself and I buy sometimes but I only really like their older stuff I buy from Depop a lot for 2000’s Abercrombie and Hollister, everything had so much more character and was more fitted as I love my clothes fitted. But now everything is ugly and bland. No type of character at all. What’s with all the collabs and terrible logo design? Everything looks so boring and ugly. The girls sometimes get some good things but the men get wtv they thought last minute. Like really 7/11? All these NFL hoodies. Everything is just hoodies and sweatpants. BOXY FIT IS THE WORST THING TO HAPPEN TO HOLLISTER. Literally everything is boxy fit in the store and I’m so tired of it. I don...

Best clothing-focused thrift stores around Monterey Bay?

38d ago

Hey all, I’ve been trying to find some good clothing-focused thrift or consignment shops around Monterey Bay, but lately everything I’ve checked out has been pretty disappointing. I’ve been to: • Plato’s Closet in Monterey — feels overpriced for what it is • The new Goodwill in Salinas (the big newer one) — huge, but mostly Target/basic mall brands • A few spots on Lighthouse Road — same kind of selection • Goodwill in Seaside — mostly stuff that looks like it originally came from Target, Ross, Dressbarn, etc. I really enjoy taking my time and digging through racks to find quality pieces, nicer fabrics, and more interesting brands, but I haven’t had much ...

there's no where to shop anymore!

42d ago

im 5'3 and 120 pounds with a small frame and athletic build. i've been finding it harder and harder to find clothes. i used to shop at brandy melville, but ever since they changed their sizing, nearly everything is huge on me. also, anytime i actually find something i like from other stores like hollister, the xs, xxs, and smalls are ALWAYS sold out!!! there's no way every single person shopping is an xs!!! and on top of this it's even HARDER to find natural fabrics! AND sometimes the xs/s aren't ACTUALLY that size, they're like a medium! at this point i don't even bother shopping until im in desperate need of new clothes. why even look when i know that ...

why are the smaller sizes ALWAYS sold out?

42d ago

in store and online i can NEVER find anything that's an xs or xxs! im 5'3, 120 pounds with a small frame and athletic build and i struggle so so much finding clothes. every store i look at, ESPECIALLY hollister has xs and xxs sold out. i have tried wearing smalls but they don't fit good and they're more like a medium. i really like hollister, but it's so disappointing and discouraging to me as a shopper when one of the only stores that has stuff that fits me great is always sold out. i don't even bother looking for clothes any more until i'm in desperate need for new stuff. is there a genuine reason why xs and xxs are constantly sold out, no matter what...

Opinions on bootcut Jeans sizing + what to buy

47d ago

Hi everyone, first time buying from Hollister as a student 🥹 They gave me a 10€ discount out of 40€ worth plus free shipping to store so I really wanna pick out some of the stuff! 1. My favorite till now: the low rise bootcut jeans! I’m a bit confused about the sizing, is their size&fit guide correct? I usually wear a 36 for flared jeans from H&M and Stradivarius, and since I’m <160cm, I would choose a petite length. The average regular size for models, as far as I see on the app, they always wear a size 2 for jeans, and according to the guide, I should wear their size 4, which makes me questioning a bit since I have always bought the same size as the r...

Just got rejected😫

54d ago

So a little context before I start rambling: I’m a university student currently looking for a part-time job, and I’m genuinely a huge fan of Hollister and their clothing. When I saw that my local store was actively hiring, I was so excited. I spent ages tailoring my CV to match the job description and finally applied. About a week later, I got an interview invite, honestly, I was over the mooooon. I really didn’t expect to hear back. Turns out it was a Harver video interview though, so I had to record answers to questions with a 2-minute time limit per video. Not gonna lie, that part was stressful (the pressure got to me ig). I heard back today and unfortunately… I was rejected. ...
