Apps for cheap food

13h ago

I wanted to share a couple of apps that I learned about recently where you can find food at hugely discounted prices. Unfortunately I think they are less likely to be helpful for folks in rural areas but it's worth taking a look anyway. Too Good To Go - This is an app mainly used by restaurants and bakeries to sell end of day items that would otherwise be tossed but there are some grocery stores on the app as well. Flashfood - I'm not sure if this is just Kroger or if it is all Kroger owned grocery stores (Harris Teeter, Fry's, etc). This app has deli/meat/dairy/produce items that are nearing their expiration date and need to be sold quickly so they are sold at 50%+ off. The...

Repurposing a bad pizza

4d ago

I absolutely **** to waste food!! Just moved in and partner decided to get a supreme pizza from the local Harris Teeter. When I lifted the pizza box it felt heavier than a newborn baby!!! Whoever made the pizza absolutely loaded the toppings and cheese on the dough. So much so that you can’t even see the bottom crust. I’m talking maybe a quarter inch of cheese on this thing. We couldn’t eat the pizza but I have it in my fridge and would like to do something with all the toppings and cheese. Maybe something out of the box and not just a calzone or something…. Ideas/help/suggestions pls

**"Listen, it's the start of Junk Food Season."** While this was a Dad trying to expain to his kid that Halloween is around the corner, yadayada, so we're not buying sweets, to my ears, it rang like a Mantra of Hope. Hmmm, think I'll open the season with some Crab Boil Chips and Peanut MM's... in the same bowl. You?

Seriously? It’s a supermarket. Yes, it has food items.

Rules for maximizing profit, reducing headaches

11d ago

Hey yall, I am trying to define parameters and rules to maximize income and avoid accepting bad batches. What are your rules? So far I have come up with the following: * 1 dollar per mile, under 10 miles total. 2 per mile over 10. Not to exceed 15/20. * .5 per item * +5 for batched order, +10 for triple. No 4 batches. * 20 minimum total during peak hours: 8 to 11, 5 to 8, and all of the weekend * 15 minimum total during normal hours: 11 to 5 and 8 to 11 * 10 minimum total for other hours * +3 for prescription pickup in addition to groceries. * +5 to drive over a certain bridge that is always backed up. * +5 for lots of water bottles/ heavy items etc. Unless heavy pay is already in...

I hope they get enough complaints to reverse this

19d ago

Already waste enough time as it is shopping multi batch orders and to have to use the ****** card every single time? Digital payments are just easier and smooth x.x I just recently made my IC card the first to pop up because I heavily shop Kroger over other places. Rip to a era of easiness (yes I always carry my physical card)

Do Yukon Gold potatoes actually exist in this area?

22d ago

Ten plus years I've been living here, I have never actually seen a Yukon Gold potato for sale in any of the grocery stores. Any recipe that calls for a gold potato inevitably calls specifically for a YG, and my internet research suggests that [there is indeed a difference](https://elevatingkitchen.com/is-there-a-difference-between-gold-potatoes-and-yukon-gold-potatoes/) versus a standard gold potato. So, ok. Yukon Gold it is. Now where to find them? The following grocery stores do *not* sell them, and I have checked (URLs just to demonstrate that neither in stock locally nor online): * [Food Lion](https://foodlion.com/product-search/yukon%20gold?searchRef=&semanticSearch=false...

Aetna Medicare Assure flex DSNP

25d ago

I'm in NC. I'm new to Medicare, as I just got approved for SSDI. I have an Aetna plan, but they're incredibly difficult to work with as I've found out this past month. I've been lied to multiple times by representatives, including being lied to about my dentist being in network, my medications being covered, and now, my extra benefits card. I was told I could use it anywhere as long as it was used for specific things, like utilities, food, OTC meds, and necessities. I found it yesterday I can only use it at Walmart, Harris teeter, food Lion, dollar tree and family dollar. Their website includes Publix on the list but that wasn't part of the list I was given ove...

Looking rough for Instacart, after DoorDash deal..

27d ago

It seems like door dash is starting to beat them in some of grocery stores now, and it won’t be long till the other apps jump in. You think Instacart has anyway to catch back up? Especially, considering they aren’t even competing on fast food deliveries and aren’t even trying to expand in that direction currently.

Where can I get troli mountain dew I can't find it anywhere?

I've been to food Lion and Harris teeter and a bunch of gas stations here in NC and Publix, but can't find zero sugar troli mountain dew? Even Walgreens doesn't have them. Where can I go to get them?
