New Orleans Restaurants Feel Squeezed as Border Patrol Sweeps In | New York Times

2m ago

"Eateries with a largely Hispanic customer base are choosing to close down temporarily. Cooks and dishwashers are staying home out of fear. Delivery drivers are sitting out shifts. And customers are finding that some menu items are no longer available, because somewhere along the supply chain someone was afraid to report for work. "As Border Patrol agents have fanned out across New Orleans over the past week to enforce the Trump administration’s deportation agenda, their presence has had a particularly chilling effect on the city’s many restaurants and their suppliers." https://www.nytimes.com/2025/12/08/us/new-orleans-restaurants-immigration-workers-border-patrol.html

Top-Rated IPTV for USA, Canada, Australia & Europe – My Honest CastPlusTV Experience

2m ago

I’ve tried a bunch of IPTV services over the years, and if you’ve ever looked for one, you already know how frustrating it is. Everything looks great at first, then a week later you’re dealing with buffering during games, frozen channels, or random outages. After testing a few different services for the **USA, Canada, UK, Europe, and Australia**, I ended up sticking with **CastPlusTV . COM** because it’s been surprisingly solid so far. Figured I’d share my experience in case it helps anyone else who’s still searching. **1. Stability has been the biggest surprise** This is usually where most IPTV services fail. With **CastPlusTV . COM**: * Channels load quickly * HD &am...

17 Steps to a Beautiful Location: How Our Production Works

We’re creating a game called *Savior Syndrome: Crimson Sun*. It’s an RPG inspired by *Disco Elysium*. Yesterday I wrote a post about how sometimes you just have to change the whole approach to production. Today I wanted to share a bit more about that. Game development is often a long chain of tasks. There are many steps, and the job of management is to make sure that every step makes sense and that the final result is exactly what we planned from the start. Right now we are fully focused on building locations, so here’s what our pipeline looks like: 1. Narrative creates the task and sends it to art 2. Sketch 3. Sketch fixes 4. Black-and-white concept 5. Hiking with T1D

4m ago

Hello everyone! Been diagnosed with T1D over ten years ago. I would like to get a bit more into hiking but I’ve always struggled with keeping a good pace. I usually slow down a lot to preserve my energy which does work in a sense that I don’t burn my sugar supplies too fast and gets me from point A to point B but it’s really annoying when I’m walking with other people…. I’m always dragging behind and I really feel like **** when I’m actually a really sporty person, I go to the gym three times a week and do tons of casual walks with my dogs. I’m planning on doing a few “test hikes” and bringing lots of different kind of snacks, trying to keep a nice glycemic curve as much...

I USED to **** AI calorie trackers… so I built one.

4m ago

I’ve been a hardcore calorie tracker for YEARS — weighing food, hitting macros, the whole ritual. And honestly? I ****** most calorie tracking apps. Especially the AI ones. They’re slow, inaccurate, and feel like they were built by people who don’t even lift. After trying literally everything and still failing to stay consistent, I finally accepted the truth: **I’m not inconsistent — the apps ****.** So I’m building my own. It’s called **Monday**, and I’m making it from the perspective of someone who actually tracks calories like a psycho (in the good way 😅). Not “AI magic,” not guessing, not bloat. Just fast, macro-focused, realistic tracking for people ...

I'm going to re test in 3 weeks....

4m ago

Last time I tested I wasn't told to fast much less to stop taking supplements and fortified foods. So I'll go 3 weeks without taking supplements... (good luck me) If they come back normal again I will at least know the actual levels without supplementing and I'll start from there with or without the NHS help. As a side note the person in charge of my health thinks that hydroxocobalamin is a chemical form of B12 .... I rest my ******* case. I have a list of things I've been shared with on foods and supplements to avoid before having a test. I'll share here, if you have more please do let me know. https://preview.redd.it/duapiza1xz5g1.png?width=1440&am...

Switching systems

I am an event photographer in my area. Last night I shot a professional choir's Christmas program at a large, historic church in my area (USA Midwest). I rented a Nikon 70-200 f/2.8E ED FL VR and used it on the Fringer adapter with my X-T5. (When you're shooting from the balcony during a live performance, having a fast 100-300mm equivalent is always good!) For shots during warmup, also brought my Viltrox 27 and 75 f/1.2, the Fuji 50-140 f/2.8, and the Fuji 18 f/1.4. Everything functioned perfectly. Autofocus was on point as always, despite the quick, sudden movements of the performers heads and faces. High ISO indoors in ****** light wasn't an issue. The Jpegs are so good I&#...

Had a really bad confrontation with my boss. How do to get back on his good side?

5m ago

I'm a 20F college student working part time at a fast food spot near campus. Since it's finals season, students have been swarming our location pretty non-stop throughout the day; however, we're all still expected clock-out for a 30 minute break each shift. The other day I made sure that the other staff who worked on the floor with me would be alright if I clocked-out, they said yes, but when I got back, the manager was ****** that I didn't let him know I had left. Never before during the almost year I worked there did I go out of my way to let a manager know I would be going on break. If I happened to pass by them on my way out, I'd let them know, of course. But h...

AITA for exposing my fiancé's affair with my sister by sending the photos to our entire wedding group chat the nig...

6m ago

The envelope had my name written on it in shaky handwriting, and his mom pressed it into my hands with this weird look on her face during the rehearsal dinner toast. I was wearing the dress I'd spent three months searching for. My fiancé was across the table laughing at something his cousin said. Everything felt perfect until I opened that envelope and saw myself staring back at me in every photo, except I wasn't in any of them. My sister was. There had to be twenty photos. His hand on her waist at my birthday party last March. Them kissing outside the restaurant where we celebrated his promotion in June. Her sitting on his lap at the family barbecue in August where I'd bee...

AITA for telling my Mum I would rather sit alone on Christmas than spend 1 minute of it with my family?

6m ago

People in this story are; myself (34F), Dad (71M), Mum (66F), older sisters I'll call Kay (40F) and Elle (38F), Elle's husband Sam (39M) and my husband (39M). A little background info, growing up, it was always made obvious that I was the least favourite child of my parents. My mum would make an effort to learn a little about what I was interested in, but my Dad had no interest in interacting with me whatsoever. My parents would spend hundreds of pounds on riding lessons for Elle and football season tickets for Kay and other things. When I was 13 I found an extra curricular activity I enjoyed, which was a performing arts group, but all they did was complain how expensive it was s...

Recommendations for restaurants in marrakesh and fes

6m ago

Hey all! I’m originally from rabat and I’ll travel to Marrakesh and Fès with my husband, and I’m looking for nice recommendations for restaurants for both cities, like somewhere where the food is actually nice and not overpriced because Marrakesh scares me a bit with how gentrified it had become. Also do I still have time to make a good reservation on 24 December? My husband is swedish and since he is spending holidays away from his family and Christmas mood i wanna make it special with a nice dinner out but Ith a reasonable budget. Thanks a lot already!

USA-targeted SMM services: Which panels actually deliver real results?

7m ago

USA services are extremely unstable on most SMM panels right now — especially TikTok, IG Reels, and YouTube retention. I’ve been testing a few providers just to see who is still consistent. One of the better results I got was from **Boostero’s USA services** here: 👉 [https://boostero.com](https://boostero.com) Delivery was clean and didn’t drop as fast as others. But I’m curious what **you all** are using. * Which panel gives you the most stable **USA views**? * Anyone tested USA IG followers recently? * Any panels to avoid? Drop your results below so we can build a community list of trusted providers.

The Daphne Seybold Interview with Throwing Fits

Our interview with Daphne Seybold is food for thought. Daphne—the CEO and CMO of Sky High Farm Goods—swung by the studio to give us a lesson on cow birth, how fashion and streetwear can open the aperture of charitable works, farmers are amazing, how much food should cost, embarrassing yourself meeting Rei Kawakubo for the first time, CdG's best sub-lines, career highlights working on the Met Gala and with the artist Ai Weiwei, the best brands don't care about trends, using a creative prism to problem solve, what real community can feel like, infiltration vs. advocation, the temple of Dover Street Market, greenwashing fatigue, fashion failing its own self-imposed sustainability ...

I’ve noticed something: hearing tests don’t always reflect real-life listening challenges.

9m ago

A lot of people say their audiogram looks “normal,” yet they’re struggling with: * Restaurants * Group conversations * Meetings * Fast talkers * Overlapping voices It’s interesting how quiet-room hearing and real-world listening can feel completely different. It makes me wonder how many people are dealing with listening difficulty long before anything shows up on a test. Has anyone here felt this mismatch between the test and their everyday experience?
