ICNA CHICAGO 2025

1h ago

Salams! I’m going to ICNA Chicago that’s happening in 2 weeks. Does anyone have any tips for exploring around Chicago? It will be my first time there. Any tips on underrated spots, food/restaurants or what people do before, during or after icna? Thank you!

Is struggling to avoid sin the same as rebelling against God?

1h ago

Hello, I’m a newer Christian, and recently I felt called to fast for three days. I genuinely tried to follow through, but on the second day I began to feel physically unwell and close to passing out. I stepped outside to regroup, read my Bible, and prayed—but ultimately I ended up eating, even though I believed God had asked me not to. I even ate junk food which I’ve been trying to give up (i’m in the middle of finals for uni and walked over to the cafe i’m supposed to avoid for a coffee and treat) omg That experience left me thinking deeply about my relationship to sin and obedience. Specifically, I’m wondering what it means when someone sincerely tries to do what God asks and...

System-Level Risk: Why No One Is in Control Anymore

1h ago

# System-Level Risk: Why No One Is in Control Anymore Modern society runs on systems so large, fast, and interconnected that **no single human—or group—fully understands them**. This isn’t a failure of leadership or intelligence. It’s a structural reality. # 1. Complexity Has Outpaced Comprehension Early systems were legible: * A factory * A government office * A single market Today’s systems—AI models, global finance, energy grids, supply chains—are: * Distributed across continents * Updated continuously * Interacting with other systems in nonlinear ways No one sees the whole map. At best, people manage fragments. # 2. Control Has Been Replaced by Management Control i...

(Probably) ok, we haven’t tried yet but anyway around it, it’s an exclusive and we know you’ll want yours. How better to \*movie on\* than with your very own 500 Movies Cookie Cutter :\]

Pavilion Bukit Jalil food guide — What’s actually worth trying?

1h ago

Pavilion Bukit Jalil is huge, so going in without a plan usually means walking a lot and still not knowing what to eat. I went through a detailed Pavilion Bukit Jalil food guide and pulled out spots that are consistently mentioned for food, price, and convenience. **Japanese / Asian** 1. Sushi Koi * Halal-friendly Japanese dining with sushi rolls and donburi. * Rolls and mains generally in the RM20–RM30+ range. * Good sit-down option if you want something calmer. 2. Suki-ya * All-you-can-eat Japanese shabu-shabu. * Around RM46 per person. * Best value if you’re going with friends and plan to eat a lot. 3. Dai Cha Dim * Hong Kong-style roast meats and dim sum. * Roast duc...

ER mishandled my cross-country discrimination case. What are my next steps?

1h ago

A little bit of context. I work for a very large global company and the entire management/direction chain is in the USA while workforce is outsourced to various smaller countries, example India, Malaysia, Indonesia etc... For some time, I have noted severe patterns of cross-country discrimination, retaliation and manipulation of performance metrics to favor one specific country above all others (I've been there for 3+ years). Needless to say, that country has been given all the promotions, raises and all other privileges. They have painted all other countries as under performing compared to that one country, and also fired a lot of employees except from that country of course (Const...

Hey everyone, It’s been comforting to read your stories on here and see that I’m not alone. I’m a 22 year old dude who’s a senior in college. After a lot of self reflecting, here are some realizations I’ve come to recently. I am constantly thinking about my next meal. I legit plan my entire day around when/ what I’m going to eat. When I’m not eating, I’m watching videos of people eating delicious fast food, sweet treats, etc. I look forward to eating more than most things in my life. I’m a happy dude, but I frequently find myself looking forward to what I’m going to eat at a special event rather than being at the event itself. For example, I had a friend’s birthday ...

Are we looking at 2026 being a repeat of CBS’s disastrous 2022?

1h ago

Okay if you guys are aware, I’ve considered 2022 CBS’s worst year for the network.Sure we got a massive hit with Fire Country, but the year was also plagued by Good Sam, Beyond The Edge, Challenge USA\*(Both of which I’ve speculated were originally planned as Paramount Plus originals), How We Roll, East New York, So Help Me Todd\*, and most infamous of all The Real Love Boat. Now fast forward to 2026 and we’ve got shows like CIA and Einstien which were originally planned for 2025 and America’s Culinary Cup which (according to TVratingsguide.org) CBS was trying to get off the ground for a while, which usually isn’t a good sign \*While these two shows did get a second season, tha...

Would anyone be up for helping me with my build?

1h ago

Looking for advice. I’m getting obliterated by enemies in Burning Springs. Failed a grunt hunt bc of these rust raiders in power armor with Gatling lasers that were basically one-shotting me. Now, I am level 277, and I figure I’ll get better as I level up, and I’m not looking to be invincible, just want a chance. Can anyone give me some pointers? I included my SPECIAL build, Legendary perks, main weapons, armor, and two main power armors. I prefer not to use power armor except against tough enemies. Thanks in advance!

Mr. Handsome. I adopted him when he was 11, he passed when he was 16. The best cat I’ve ever known in my life

1h ago

I adopted him after a bad breakup years ago and saw that he had been in the shelter for almost a year, so I took him home the same day. He liked his wet food warmed up, he would come head butt me aggressively if his heating pad wasn’t turned on, and he loved baths. He lost all of his teeth due to dental pain so he wasn’t cleaning himself properly anymore, but he loved to just sit in a filled up bath tub of warm water even after we fixed that issue and got his bad teeth removed. I miss him so much, he went very peacefully in my arms, as the vet was administering the medicine he was purring and rubbing his head on my chin until he took his last breath. Sometimes I’ll wonder if I put ...

Doing palliative care at home with our guy with advanced liver cancer.....

1h ago

Hi all, I'm hoping someone might have some tips. Our poor guy has been diagnosed with bad liver cancer. Like, his whole liver. We went to an oncologist, and she told us it isn't operable. That there's just too much. He had been losing weight (45 down to 35 lbs), but otherwise seemingly happy. But in the past few days, he stopped pooping. Now his stomach is getting larger and he's clearly uncomfortable. We emailed our vet (which is how you do it in LA, apparently), and she said pepcid AC, and that it's his cancer pushing into his stomach? Which doesn't make sense... why would it suddenly move so fast? Anyway, at this point, should we give him a laxative? He&...

Malaysian Indian

1h ago

I am 32 years old Malaysian Indian. Just posting this to vent out abit i guess. Born in 1993. Life started in kampung. Parents struggled alot but never had to live less. Had enough food, shelter and clothes. Parents never instilled **** about religion or race. Still remember the first day to kindergarden, the one thing my dad said i still remember until today. Make as many friends and never choose your friends based on skin colour. Be friends with everyone. Fast forward i realised alot of Malay hates the Chinese in Malaysia. I always wondered why. I always thought one is overreacting towards the other. This thought changed later on. Been 9 years working in Singapore now and i realised why th...

Last Defense: Trump’s Brutal Force and the Battle of Truths — Can America Trust Again? Part 2

Barely a year into Trump’s second term, the tide appears to be turning. Multiple polls after the November “blue wave” show Donald Trump’s support dropping to the upper 30s — his lowest level since the final days of his previous term. It’s his floor, held up by his MAGA base and lingering sympathizers, as explained in Episode 1. Trump has just declared a total global retreat, just after the rattling revelation that many high-profile, self-styled “patriotic...

Anyone else stuck in this gameplay loop where they get geared at NWAF and then don’t know what to do?

Happens to me every new server; I just start from the coast and get enough food to travel inland and then end up at NWAF, get geared really fast and then bored right away lol. Even on vanilla. But the journey from the coast is always fun. what do you guys do?

The Spiritual Ego

1h ago

I was feeling very "enlightened" after my yoga retreat. Eating clean, meditating daily, feeling superior to the chaotic world.Stopped for gas and saw a guy in a beat-up truck. Smoking, eating greasy fast food, blasting loud metal music. My brain immediately judged him. Low vibration. Unconscious. Unhealthy. Then I saw him hop out. He walked over to a stray dog near the pumps, poured water from his own bottle into a cup for it, and sat on the dirty concrete to pet it while it drank. He missed his turn at the pump to stay with the dog.I stood there with my green juice and my judgment. My body was clean, but my heart was arrogant. He was eating junk, but his heart was pure service.Spirit...

Crazy is, I believe, the medical term, when we want to recover, but we don't want to learn.

1h ago

I didn’t leave my house for a few days after the [dam incident](https://www.reddit.com/r/atypicalpests/comments/1pgjs0p/i_came_in_like_a_wrecking_ball/). Aside from a nasty gash on my calf from Gods knew what, my body was simply lethargic. Apparently that’s a side effect of using your soul to keep a fire lit. It’s gotten a little better, but *yikes*. Lesson learned for sure. That didn’t stop the Huntsman from giving me a lecture, though. When he paid a visit three days after Thanksgiving, he wasted no time laying into me. “What the **** were you thinkin’?” he started as soon as I opened the door. I sighed, shoulders sagging. “I’m guessing you’re not here to inquire af...

Hi Reddit. I (26F) am looking for advice and also kind of just need to vent. My husband (29M) and I have been together 8.5 years, married 5.5. We got married young, but honestly it’s been a pretty happy marriage overall. Until very recently, I would’ve said we were solid. He’s always run his own business. I work in tech. When we got married we made about the same, but over time my income grew and his business slowly started failing. For years he’s been working way more than 40 hours a week and barely clearing minimum wage annually. This caused a lot of tension. I tried (multiple times, probably too many) to encourage him to pivot or get a different job, and he always felt like I wa...
