Why are fast food places switching to potato buns?

6h ago

For context, I was diagnosed with a potato allergy when I was 22. My husband and I ordered Wendy's tonight as I occasionally treat myself to fast food, and to my dismay, all of their larger bugers and sandwiches now come served on potato buns. This is not the first time I've noticed this in the last couple of years though. Other restaurants I've noticed a change in have been Sonic, McDonald's, Burger King, and previously Hardee's. Is there a reason for this? I mean, I already can't get a combo at most places due to everyone serving fries and not offering substitutions. I just want to treat myself to a burger every now and again without having to worry about an...

Feedback after completion. DO NOT READ if you don't want massive spoilers.

This is after completing everything, the only few things I haven't done is I haven't found all 3 of the 2nd vehicle upgrade, where multiple seats exist (are there 3??), and haven't built a dive elevator. Not yet sure what to use it for, yet. **Gameplay** Overall like subnatica 1, the swimming feels fairly solid. I like the little specs everywhere, gives a good sense of motion. I have to admit seeing the difference between no fins, fins, and improved fins didn't feel like much. Even with the wakemaker, it just doesn't give you that sense of "im moving a bunch faster" The food/water drain is rather fast. So fast that talking to an "NPC" just take...

Today was brutal, operation is abysmal.

Got here around 1140 today. I have an All-Season FL & Prestige Membership + All-Season Dining Plan. There was a couple of schools here today but nothing I haven’t experienced during the summer months. Multiple coasters on one train; X-Flight, Batman, Wrath, I believe Maxx Force to name the ones I saw today. I didn’t get on Superman/Goliath/Wrath because the lines (even for FL) kept pushing out and were not moving well at all. If I didn’t have the Fast Lane & Membership I would have been extremely disappointed in my experience today. When I left around 4, all of the school groups looked exhausted and were audibly complaining about how bad the lines for everything (includ...

Store Is Closed (Critterland part 6)

7h ago

(Written with the help of Manus) The second meeting was not planned either. That seemed to be becoming a pattern in Critterland. After the first strange reunion at the crossing of four roads, the four Critter groups had gone back to their own territories with patched bridges, painted warning stones, and a shared understanding that none of them knew what to do with. The Smiling Critters had returned to their meadow. The Frowning Critters had gone back to their gloomy house, where Catfeine immediately created a “future intergroup emotional preparedness plan” that Groddy Grudgebear tried to throw into the fireplace. The Daydream Critters had returned to Dreamhill Valley, where Trixie pla...

Gemstone market update: what's rising in value in 2025–2026 📈

7h ago

Here's what serious collectors and dealers are watching right now in the colored stone market: 📈 Rising Fast: • Spinel — especially Mahenge red and neon pink. Supply is tightening from Tanzania and Myanmar • Tourmaline — Paraiba prices continue to climb. Even non-Paraiba neon teal tourmalines are spiking • Unheated sapphires — premium over heated stones is growing every year 🔵 Holding Strong: • Ceylon (Sri Lanka) sapphires — consistent demand from USA and European buyers • Colombian emeralds — fine quality with minor oil still commands strong prices • Burma ruby — any certified Burma origin with GIA gets attention at auction 📉 Oversupplied...

What A Surprise (Critterland part 5)

7h ago

(Written with the help of Manus) Critterland was large enough for whole lives to disappear inside it. There were bright meadow towns where lanterns swung from painted posts, shadowy woods where the trees grew too close together, valleys that seemed to dream beneath permanent sunlight, and gloomy houses where even the windows looked tired. Most Critter groups preferred their own territories. The Smiling Critters stayed near warmth, color, and open paths. The Frowning Critters kept to quieter corners where their moods did not have to explain themselves. The Daydream Critters lived in Dreamhill Valley, which smelled of fruit, sand, soup, and sunlight. The Nightmare Critters claimed the darker...

Toxic workplace culture and where should I go from here?

7h ago

For those not in the know, I have two jobs now. I got my second job a few weeks ago. Fast food burger joint part time. Overnights, though I mostly work earliest 5, latest 1am. My day job is at a chicken restaurant offering takeout store. A manager I am friends with there recently told me the night guy there was promoted to manager. This kind of enraged me, to the point after my shift with him the next day, when the GM showed up I waited for her to talk to about how it was unfair and they didn't even let me apply or interview. She said it was the owner and Regionals decision, but then the very next day when I decided not to talk to her about the situation she started talking to me about ...

One of my Redwoods in Queensland, Australia.

7h ago

The first pic is of my oldest (2 years in the ground) Coast Redwood, as part of my grove which includes more smaller Redwoods, Giant Sequoia, Deodar Cedar, Radiata Pine, Swamp Cypress, and Incense Cedars. I'm about 45 minutes SE of Brisbane City, Australia. They seem to be surprisingly happy here as long as they get water during dry spells, as the sandy soil on my property tends to desiccate real fast! The next pictures are of a large, local 40 year old specimen, but this one is at about 1,500ft higher despite being 15 minutes away. The climate is much more suitable up there than down here, so I'd expect mine to grow much slower. Our climate is more similar to the SE USA than ...

What is the worst quote of season 19?

Season 1: “Jimmy! Where is that fat f\*\*k? \[…\] He’s like an inflated turd in a f\*\*king cloud.” (Gordon Ramsay) Season 2: "I personally think you have a hard-on for Virginia." (Keith) Season 3: "She works at the f\*\*king Waffle House!" (Tiffany) Season 4: "I **** desserts. They're tedious. Women can make desserts, you know? It just ain't my thing." (Blunderwood) Season 5: Tie between "I want to punch her (Andrea) in the neck." (Carol) and "I'm going to f\*\*king punch her (Andrea) in the face." (sous chef Scott) Season 6: "Women are the best at cleaning, so it's right up their alley." (Louie) S...

Farming Rework

7h ago

I made a post here about a month ago, [which you can read here](https://www.reddit.com/r/minecraftsuggestions/s/VGZhWThIrk). This is an update to that post with suggestions and some tweaks. This is a long one. NEW TOOLS: PITCHFORK: It's crafted with 1 stick and 3 materials, (iron, netherite, etc). 1 stick on the bottom middle, with 1 material directly above it and 2 others in the top corner. It can be enchanted with mending, unbreaking, and efficiency. The pitchfork can be right clicked on hay bales to spread out hay for animals to sleep on. Efficiency increases the speed in which this can be done. The spreading will have an animation somewhat similar to archeology and brushing. Ha...

What if local AI agents remembered the system, not just the conversation?

Title: Since OverCR v1, I Turned It Into a Full AI Orchestration Substrate A little over a week ago I posted OverCR v1. At the time it was mostly the foundation: persistent filesystem-native state, governed orchestration concepts, workflow routing, recovery primitives, and the beginnings of a long-lived operational runtime for AI systems. Since then, OverCR evolved fast. v2.10 Stable is now live: https://github.com/GuideboardLabs/overcr What started as a runtime experiment has become a full orchestration substrate focused on long-lived, recoverable, governed AI operations. The biggest architectural decision stayed the same: canonical state lives on disk. Not in RAM. Not hidden inside...

The Low End

7h ago

So we're back. You're listening to *The Low End,* I'm your host, and sitting across from me doing that thing with her fantastic ears where she pretends she's not judging me is my cohost Syl, who is, as always, perfect and elven and wrong about almost everything. *I have never once been wrong.* You've never once admitted it. Different thing. Anyway. We got a lot of letters this week after last show's segment on rootwork, and Syl said something on air that I haven't been able to stop thinking about. You said, what was it, you said your people have been doing rootwork for centuries and it's about respect for the plant and intention and all that. And I...
