I feel I am not a creative but my boyfriend wants me to be one.

28m ago

Context: I am a paralegal (I work on the debtors side in bankruptcy) and have never had creative talents. I played several instruments in grade school (violin etc) but I played off a music sheet. I cannot draw/write/create anything. At least I don’t think I can. My boyfriend seems to be obsessed with us both making a living by what I consider creative endeavors (making video games, YouTube videos/vlogs, video recipes etc) He has a full time job in restaurant management but we need some sort of side income to afford rent. I am admittedly lazy and don’t really want to learn a new skill. I work from home. My work is mentally draining but also rewarding, 40+ hours a week. It doesn’t m...

Is this wage theft?

In California at a fast serve/quick serve food spot (offers 2 inside tables and 4 outside tables but overwhelming majority of orders are takeout) can the owner use the debit/credit card tips the customers leave as they pay on the touchscreen for operational/supply costs?

The Legend of Zaza

30m ago

She was an orphan living in a small orphanage... Her name? Zaza. She was smart, beautiful but sad. Why? Because she was missing the warmth of a parent... The feeling of being loved. Did someone deserve love for her in that small orphanage? Yeah! Everyone loved her. Even her teachers at her school. Everyone loved her, because she was smart and kind... But somewhere in her heart, there was something missing. Something she couldn't hide. She wanted someone who would be her parent. She didn't even know who her parents were. Her director, the director of the orphanage, always told her to wait until she got eighteen. Apparently, she was special. The director was hiding a secret about he...

The "Welfare Queen" Myth: How Stripping Autonomy Sabotages Job Security**

30m ago

There is a common narrative in American politics that "starving" people into the workforce creates a thriving economy. This entire ideology is built on the \*\*"Welfare Queen" myth\*\*—a debunked stereotype from the '80s used to justify stripping away the autonomy of the poor. When we treat adult citizens like they cannot be trusted to manage their own lives, we actually sabotage the job market. 1. The "Cat Food" Lie and the Loss of Choice\*\* A major part of the Welfare Queen myth was the insulting claim that people were buying cat food to eat instead of tuna or meat. The Manipulation: Politicians used this lie to claim that peop...

Built a free Windows app for controlling 16 servos through PCA9685. Started as a personal project for animatronics and turned into something other people might actually want. Foxtronixxx Animatronic Servo Mapper. Single exe. No Python install needed. Hardware side: PCA9685 over I2C. SDA, SCL, ground. The app shows you the exact pin mapping for your selected board. 95 boards in the dropdown — ESP32, ESP32-S3, **21 Arduino boards**, Teensy 4.x, RP2040, STM32, and a bunch more. Firmware uploads from inside the app using bundled Arduino CLI. First upload for a new board type downloads the compiler package automatically. After that it's fast. What you get: * 16 named servo channels wi...

The older I get the more critical I become of a potential partner

32m ago

This is long going through a quarter life crisis in the middle of the night. I’ll be over it in the morning although feel free to read. I truly understand why older generations tell people to get married young. I feel as though the older I get the more critical I am of any kind of potential partner I want in a long-term relationship. To an extent, there is definitely a cultural aspect as well for me as why I don’t try to date with the intentions of casual dating were we we’ll potentially break up in a matter of time. And I understand that no one necessarily starts dating with those kind of intentions, but I genuinely would like to start dating with the intentions of marriage. And don...

This one needs a little backstory. I remember a rainbow. I'm not sure why, but that's what I remember when I think about how she and I met. Eighth grade, a wet playground, a rainbow, and her drawing in a sandbox with a stick. She liked to doodle in the wet sand - apparently it just held its shape better - and the day I said my first hello, she was in the middle of etching the same circle over and over. I asked why she was just drawing a single circle, and I clearly remember her shyly saying, "Because it doesn't end." I thought she was weird, but ****, so was I. So I sat and grabbed my own stick and drew a circle next to her. From her little grin, I could tell she...

My (30s F) partner (30s M) can’t hold a job (30+ in 2 years) — I can’t tell if this is mental health, incompetence...

35m ago

I’m looking for outside perspective because I feel like I’ve lost objectivity here. My partner and I have been together for 10 years and have two young kids. We’re legally divorced but still closely involved, and trying to figure out if we want to try to make things work again or not and I’m trying to figure out what level of support or involvement is realistic going forward. The main issue is that he cannot hold a job. In the past \~2 years, he’s had around 30 jobs. Some lasted a few months, some only days or weeks. These have ranged from fast food to corporate roles where he was flown out for training. He has no problem getting hired, but he consistently loses the job. It’s ...

I’m so bummed. I decided to treat myself to Olga’s because it had been a while. Pure trash now.

35m ago

I really REALLY try not to order food from chain restaurants anymore because it is all overpriced microwave dinners now. But I always had a soft spot for Olga‘s and I rarely order it because it’s far so I have to pay extra on DoorDash. I treated myself tonight and there was basically nothing in my Olga. I know it was just a three cheese, but I’ve had frozen grilled cheeses that had more than that. I actually worked there twice when I was 16 and then again when I was 22. It was a terrible job but only because we were so busy because our food was so good and the management was questionable at best. I’m just bummed that I decided to treat myself and it ended up not being worth it at al...

Hey everyone! I’m hoping to meet someone around my age who’s open to building something genuine. I think the best relationships start as friendships and grow naturally if the connection is there—ultimately I am looking for something real, not just casual chatting. About me: \-Open-minded, grounded, a little nerdy (I can go from deep life talks to random trivia way too fast) \-Straightforward, with a “golden retriever” personality—loyal, a bit goofy, and I’ll hype you up for no reason \-Dark sense of humor, but I know when to turn it off \-Big on meaningful conversations (the kind that randomly happen at 2AM) \-My love languages are quality time, acts of service, and word...

My **** sister fed her dog rice

35m ago

My sister fed her dog take out rice from a Indian restaurant when I left her house, which resulted in me going back to her house to see what's up with baby. She's around 15-25 pounds , small dog, and she's lethargic, wobbly when walking , and she's peeing herself (pee is clearish / yellow). My sister went off to bed asking me to watch her because " I can't afford a vet for it to be nothing". I'm nervous, baby is wells still a puppy, and I pretty much took care of her and trained her, so I knew off thd bat something was wrong. She was running around rapidly for awhile and going crazy and now she's sleep and dead silent heart palpatation her heart ...

First time travelers to Japan

40m ago

Hello, first time traveling to Japan. We'll be visiting Tokyo at the end of May for 5 days: 2 adults and our 11-year-old child. What are your suggested itineraries that aren't too tiring, as our kid tends to complain? 😂 We plan to visit Chiikawa Park and Sanrio Puroland, as she loves them. 1. We'll be staying in Asakusa. What are the must-try food/restaurants and shops? Some say certain places are just hype. 2. What are some tourist trap places you wish you had never visited? 3. What are some items you wish you had bought more of, and/or items you wish you had never bought at all? 4. Considering the weather, what should we be aware of?

It's astonishing how many restaurant employees don't see you standing there or pretend they don't see you...

they will immediately spring to life.. This happens quite frequently ,but tonight the shelf was right next to the cash register. Three employees looked directly at me and didn't even bother asking who I was there for. This guy with his back towards me apparently has eyes in the back of his head because he saw me grab the bag. " him.." please don't grab the food yourself". me.." please don't ignore us when we're running food for your customers" yes, I absolutely said that without one single fck given. 😂 I'm pretty easy going but this place was really slow. I can't stand not being acknowledged." be right there sir" " p...

what do you guys actually spend money on in college 😭

44m ago

ok random but I was thinking about this today what are things you end up buying over and over again as a college student?!?!?!? like not just obvious stuff, but things you didn’t expect to spend money on but now you always do for me it’s random food runs + little “treat” purchases that add up so fast 💀 also: * anything you’ve bought online (amazon/tiktok/etc) that was actually worth it? * something you thought was **** at first but now you use all the time? * anything you regret buying? like do people actually buy stuff like planner templates or budget trackers or do you just make your own/use free ones 😭 just curious lol
