[3 YoE, Unemployed, Entry Level Legal Assistant/Receptionist, US]30m agoHello, I'm trying to exit tech and break into the legal field for something more client facing. I tried to demonstrate transferability. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! how to come to terms that I won’t eat anything I love until mid June?30m agoHello, I have this gorgeous Italian vacation in two months and I've been dieting for eight days and so far so good, but I have to come to terms that I cannot binge eat or eat fast food for the next two months. And that sounds intense. Like right now, I just want a cookie. Even though I know if I want a cookie, I would have to drive 15 minutes, spend money, and drive back, so the whole thing would cost me 30 minutes of driving, money, and my progress. And I don't know, like, I have to accept that I won't eat anything I want until I'm in Italy. Does that make any sense? I made such good progress. I lost more than three pounds in eight days and I don't want to mess this... Any assistance will be greatly appreciated, thank you! China Isn’t Becoming More Political: It’s Becoming More Coherent32m agoMost people look at the rise of scientists inside the Chinese Communist Party and treat it like a кадров shuffle, as if one elite class is simply being replaced by another. That reading is too shallow. What is happening is structural. For decades, modern governments have operated with a split architecture. One layer understands reality through models, data, and technical systems, while another layer makes decisions through policy, incentives, and power. These layers communicate, but they are not the same system, and every time information moves between them it degrades. Nuance is lost, timing slips, and the signal that finally reaches decision-makers is often a distorted version of the... First NOLA trip: food reviews33m agoJust got back from a trip with a group of friends. We’re all foodies from another large city, so we were very excited for the restaurants on this trip. We really tried to steer toward anything that felt either classically or uniquely NOLA, as we have basically every cuisine imaginable available to us in our city other than creole and Cajun food. I wanted to share our thoughts/rankings on the five sit down meals we had. 1) La Petite Grocery: one of the most amazing meals I’ve ever had. Every single course that we ate was incredible with such a depth of flavor that’s rare. The service and drinks were also top notch. If it weren’t for the caffeine, I probably would have had 5 of their ... I need an explanation for what happened to me.33m agoIn 2022, I realized that someone warns me when a family member is going to die, something I had ignored due to my family's religious beliefs. But that year, something happened that scared me the most. I worked in a "Calle El Hambre" (I'm from Venezuela, that's what we call a street food stall organization; they're like restaurants but with that street food feel) and I would arrive at 2 or 4 a.m. That morning, I arrived at 4 a.m. and fell asleep around 5. I had a cousin with cancer, but she had already been cured and had to go early that day for chemotherapy. She could choose whether or not to have it, and she decided to go, just to be safe. She left in the morn... Keto but not seeing scale difference33m agoI was able to lose a significant amount of weight on keto previously. But this time around it’s a struggle. Background: went from nearly 300 to 150, maintained around 160-170ish for 6-7 years. Left a relationship and pandemic, mental health struggles, long COVID after 3x rounds w covid in a year, and I’m back up to 307 11 years after I lost the weight I have Lipedema which was only late stage 1 my first go around with keto. It is currently late stage 2 due to hormones triggering progression with a couple miscarriages and has spread to my arms and lower stomach It was so much easier last time. This time around I’m at or under 1200 calories a day (tracking pretty closely) and no more ... ECONOMY: Goldman Sachs Has Released Its Inflation Playbook For The Rest Of 2026, And The Iran War Just Blew A Hole Throu...34m agoGoldman Sachs released its US Inflation Monitor for March 2026 on April 20, and the picture it paints is one shaped by forces that did not exist twelve months ago. Headline CPI surged 0.87 percent in March alone, pushing the year-over-year rate to 3.29 percent, driven primarily by a 10.9 percent spike in energy prices tied directly to the start of the Iran war. Oil prices jumped from an average of $71 per barrel in February to $103 per barrel in March, a 45 percent spike in a single month, and Goldman has now raised its December 2026 headline PCE inflation forecast by a full percentage point since the conflict began, with most of that revision attributable to energy costs alone. The war’s... Díky za vaše odpovědi 😄 Looking for Suggestions37m agoMy aunt and uncle are in their mid 70s, retired, and have no kids. They have what I would describe (without seeing it) as a bed bug infestation. I first heard about this about a year ago through my mother. They moved a chair in the house and said the carpet underneath was "crawling" with them. They brought in an exterminator who sprayed the house twice, but they told him to stop coming after the 2nd time because they didn't see them any more. Four months later, they were back. They have gotten rid of pieces of furniture, and apparently have had an exterminator back in. But just yesterday my aunt told me "they're only in the entry way to the house now." ... Idea for a predator story: predator: The Last Hunt of the terrible lizards (A group of predators are hunting and take wi...37m agoA little bit of a refresher on prehistory: The Cretaceous–Paleogene (K-Pg) extinction event, 66 million years ago, wiped out about 75% of life on Earth, most famously the non-avian dinosaurs, due to a massive asteroid impact in Mexico that created the Chicxulub crater. The impact triggered tsunamis, wildfires, and a global winter from dust blocking the sun, causing a collapse of the food chain, though some groups like birds, crocodiles, and small mammals survived and diversified in the aftermath. And considering that the predators have canonically hunted dinosaurs. It makes me wonder if they were there either by chance or by choice to witness and study the extinction of the dinosaurs. I... Free lunch for someone in need39m agoHappy Tuesday, everyone. I'd love to buy lunch today for someone who needs it. We can figure out a fast food place near you, other than mcd. This is a pick-up only offer. You must have 800 karma to be considered. I will be looking at post history (I can see deleted posts), and I'll choose based on intuition. You're still eligible if I've helped you before. Please don't message me unless I've asked you to do so. Thank you! Remove 1 Fast Food Restaurant - Day 1241m agoThe following eliminations were: the place that has no seasoning and gets carried by their sauce, little caesars, and the place that's been evading elimination for a while And Dunkin is our returnee (Day 10 was for nothing wasnt it...) What’s the “correct” way of eating for PCOS?41m agoHi everyone, hope this is the right flair. The biggest advice I see on how to make PCOS “better” is to start exercising and eating healthy. However I have a problem with snacking and I love fast food. Do I need to completely cut those out of my life, or is it sometimes allowed? I unfortunately don’t get enough fruits, but I do eat meat quite often, with vegetables. I sadly don’t like fish that much, but I could eat it if it’s good for me. Is there a diet I should try? I’m not very knowledgeable in this field because my family has never really been health conscious, and my parents just let me eat whatever since I was a child. Thank you in advance! Hermitage Bay Antigua : Hillside Ocean Pool Villa : 04/18-04-2143m agoWe booked with 3 FNCs 1 under my name and 2 under my husband We emailed in advance so we could stay in the same villa and to confirm the free transfer with a 3 night stay. **The room** : 9/10 the hillside ocean pool villa room is one of the most beautiful rooms I think we’ve stayed at. The pool is the perfect size for two people, and the view from the deck is breathtaking. Me and my husband were able to see the sunset and sunrise every morning while relaxing in the private pool. The room inside is nothing special, just a bed and a mini bar. The bed is hard so be prepared but the pillows are butter soft, there’s a netting around the bed to prevent bugs and they bring it down at nigh... Restaurant veg non veg best food44m agoI want to order some dal makhni and some paneer normal dinner any recommendations? Chicago just built the largest magic venue in the world. Here's how Pentagram created its logo44m agoWith the help of the architecture firm Rockwell Group and the design firm Pentagram, Chicago's McCormick mansion has been transformed into The Hand & The Eye, the largest magic venue in the world at 35,000 square feet. The overall vision—and $50 million investment behind it—comes from Glen Tullman, who is both a Chicago-based venture capitalist and a lifelong magic enthusiast. His bet is that locals and tourists will spend $225 for a three-hour, no-cameras-allowed experience (with $75 in credits for food and drink) as they bounce from intimate rooms to larger theaters—seeing more magic at every turn in a setting that’s as much of a spectacle as the illusions themselves... ğŸ›¡ï¸ Content Safety: All discussions are automatically filtered for inappropriate content to ensure a safe browsing experience. |
