I use DoorDash a couple of times a week. It's very helpful to me, I tip decently, and Yellowknife is small, so drivers don't have to go far to deliver, and can pretty easily do multiple deliveries within a short timeframe, and the restaurants seem to send smaller portions to compensate for the cost, and keep signing up. In an ideal world, this would be a win-win-win. But is it? I came across this post, and was wondering whether anyone other than the app is winning, specifically for restaurants and drivers in Yellowknife. I've never been to this community before but I wanted to share this opinion cuz it's the main problem I encounter surrounding picky eating, but the stigma is ******* ridiculous. A lot of the problems of picky eating stem from stigma in the first place, at least for me. I don't avoid going to restaurants because I'm worried I won't like the food, I avoid it because I **** eating around other people, and the comments people make. Went to go grab a piece of driftwood from a tank to help rescape a friend’s tank. Shook off the water and put in a bucket, then drove 20 minutes in the freezing Canadian winter. Unbeknownst to me this guy was hanging on for dear life the entire time and ended up getting dunked in a new tank which at the time I thought had chlorine in it. Went out for a coffee picked on my a group of high schoolers as a comically young looking adult. Somehow they were able to sniff out that I was at the bottom of the food chain in school years ago. Normally I wouldn't care so much but some days ago I was talking to some friends who were reminiscing being bullied all their lives. I want to start off by saying there are definitely a lot of others going through much worse than what I'm about to talk about, but I just need an anonymous place to vent. My husband and I have housed my grandfather for 5 months, going on 6. During the first few, I was helping him get treatment for his cancer. One appointment per week for months. Then a week of radiation. More treatment. Fast forward, his numbers have greatly improved and his masses resolved. I recently heard the quote "every one wants to live in a village but doesn't want to be a villager" and it really struck me for some reason. For awhile now I've been pretty nomadic but looking to slow things down, put roots somewhere. I really do want to live in an intentional community at some point and I have visited a few. My 10 year old leopard gecko was taken to the vet around the end of november to treat some impacted hemipenes and an abscess that had formed. He was put on 2 rounds of baytril along with a lactulose solution as he was having trouble pooping. For the past two weeks he’s been eating, gaining weight, and passing healthy stool and he was very active. Though about 5 days ago he’s started to refuse food again and he’s losing weight (like 10 grams type if loss, and his tail is thin). This route likely works with some additional skills if they fire fast enough. This is more me trying to make some interesting tech from meta I've seen in rank. Hi! I have an idea to get a small cart that can keep food warm and then selling the food to hungry workers in an industrial park in my town. There's no restaurants around the park, and lunch breaks are usually only a half hour long so people are forced to bring their lunches. It's basically a captive audience. If I'm cooking the food, then I'll be subjected to renting a commercial kitchen, insurance, inspections, licencing, the works. It's very easy to get in over your head with things like that.
