Gacha games are absolutely predatory and bad for your brain

3h ago

The first time I played a gacha game was in 2021, I got interested in Genshin. Then, in 2022, Me and my family at the time were poor, had to live in hotels after my grandma died and our uncle kicked us out (after we left the place got really bad, floor sunken in trashbags everywhere, roaches came back after my mom bombed them). Just to give you a glimpse of my mindset at the time. I saw people talk about Genshin Impact, and I was all like 'woah, that seems fun!' holy **** it was not. You can get characters by being f2p but it requires a lot of farming and effort, and it led me to begging my parents for money so I could buy some rolls (mind you, we were currently homeless and str...

COD: Make it happen Monday

3h ago

Mondays are often rough days. Today do not think about something you have to do but something you are going to make happen. Following through on your goals is a good way to increase trust not just with yourself but in life in general. Trusting yourself leads to healthy minds and this will positively increase your confidence in your relationships. So, make a plan and accomplish it. Stop thinking of Mondays with a sense of dread but as an opportunity to follow through on some goals. This can be a chore around your home, a phone call you have been putting off, or even a short walk around your neighborhood. Do you need to reach out to friends, family, or your partner for support or to let th...

My coworker [45M] often interjects his opinion on my [27F] soon-to-be wedding

**I am not The OOP, OOP is u/itsgonnabcourthouse** **My coworker [45M] often interjects his opinion on my [27F] soon-to-be wedding.** [Original Post](https://www.reddit.com/r/relationships/s/ot5y1mm8Rs) **Feb 15, 2021** My fiancé and I have been together for 10 years and decided to tie the knot this upcoming summer. I have this coworker who doesn’t listen at all. It’s his way or not at all. My coworker (Jack) has assigned himself to be our florist after overhearing my conversation to my friend. He mentioned that he used to be a florist before working at our store. I never asked Jack to be our florist. I’ve politely told him no, we already have our flowers arranged. He asked where w...

My life

3h ago

Hi. My name is Nikita and I'm a sixteen year old russian boy. My mother works as an employee at a shoe store to make ends meet. My father left me when I was very young. my mom always told me that he is always at work, making it impossible for him to connect with me, but I think seeing me at least once a day wouldn't destroy his career. The last time I saw him was last christmas, and even then, talking to him was difficult. We just couldn't find a way to understand each other. For a reason i can't explain, My father's mood is so dark, and is so broken that he couldn't really be there for me. Each time he came back, I felt more disappointment. It was like each v...

i lost my best friend today - pet loss rant

3h ago

hi everyone. i've had the worst four days of my life and i need to put it all into words or i feel like the weight of it will crush me on wednesday night (july 2nd, 2025) my 8 1/2 year old siberian/alaskan husky, Togo, wasn't feeling well. he had a stomach ache and refused to eat or drink water and was lethargic. we watched over him and made him some rice thinking it would be easy on his stomach when he was hungry. he had a bad habit of chewing sticks outside and then get a tummy ache. but by the next day, he was always back to normal. the day after, (thursday, the 3rd), he was lethargic and unlike himself so we got worried. i spent some time with him and he wasn't respond...

Does CoastFIRE make sense in my situation?

3h ago

Have been working and saving non stop for 25 years now. I expect to work for 10 more years, and after that who knows (in fact even before, who knows). Started from zero after school (literally zero - I had neither any money, but nor any student debt thankfully). Current portfolio: 70% stock index funds 10% cash —- in HYSA and CD yielding 4% 10% bonds 10% bitcoin Total portfolio value is $3.56M. Of that, $2.28M is in tax deferred retirement accounts (401/IRA) $1.28M is in combination of post-tax brokerage, cash and a 529. HHI is $450k. As of now we are maxing out 2 401ks, getting employer match, and saving any additional money after paying our monthly bills into the brokerage acco...

10 reasons why 'Superman' (2025) might do worse at the box office than 'Man of Steel' (2023)

3h ago

In 2013, Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel earned this much money at the box office (shown in both original and inflation-adjusted dollars): - Opening Weekend: $128,681,486 (adjusted $177,571,800) - Total Domestic Gross: $291,045,518 (adjusted $401,623,250) - Total Foreign Gross: $379,100,000 (adjusted $523,132,515) - Total Worldwide Gross: $670,145,518 (adjusted $924,755,765) 12 years later, we now have a new Superman movie coming out, directed by James Gunn. This one is being pitched as the start of a new cinematic universe that will showcase a panoply of DC Comics characters. Back in 2013, Man of Steel was not pitched that way. It was sold as a new, standalone start for the character (after ...

Family Called Me a Failure When I Left the Navy — Then My Brother’s Admiral Said: ‘Captain Lennox?’

3h ago

I never really fit the blueprint my family laid out. In the Lennox house, the Navy wasn’t just tradition—it was destiny. My father, Vice Admiral Mark Lennox, used to say we were “born with saltwater in our blood.” He’d repeat that line to reporters, to old friends over scotch, to anyone who would listen. But he never said it to me. I grew up in Norfolk, Virginia, a city that smelled like rust and brine, where the boom of carrier horns rattled windowpanes and boys dreamed of flying fighter jets. My brother Jason was one of those boys. Dad taught him to disassemble rifles before he turned twelve, let him sit in on mission briefings, called him “my legacy.” Me? I was the kid w...

I feel like I gave up my youth for my dad and I'm less than 2 months into it.

3h ago

So, I was living independently down in Florida. I moved there about one year after my mother died in 2022. Ima 22-year-old male. I loved it. Everything was probably 1/5 of the cost. It was of where I'm from. Originally. I was able to actually freely roam around and I was living in a city for the first time in my life and the climate was perfect. Given from I am from the Northeast so I'm used to spending a lot of time indoors and I felt amazing being able to go outside anytime I want to even during the summer. My dad was going to move to Florida to be with me and ultimately make it so we would officially all be in Florida together as a family. However, he was diagnosed with COPD a...

At a Crossroads: Stay in a Limited Leadership Role or Buy and Scale a Business?

3h ago

Hi all, I’d love to hear from others who’ve faced a similar fork in the road. I’m currently the CEO and Director of a business in which I hold a 30% share. I have a close working relationship with one of the four shareholders, but I’m not closely aligned with the others. This has made it difficult to influence key decisions — especially as the majority group has recently decided to downscale the business, despite my strong opposition. Over the past 2.5 years, I’ve poured everything into this company — but between the lack of direction, internal misalignment, and constant travel, it’s no longer sustainable for me or my young family. With this in mind, I’ve been actively e...

Avoid A2Z TCG in Murphysboro, Illinois at all costs

3h ago

TL;DR I really **** that I have to call out a brick and mortar stores, but A2ZTCG in Murphysboro Illinois lied to me as a customer and decided to cancel my order without consulting me due to the price increase on the card. They fully deserve public shaming. On July 2nd, I ordered a copy of Godless shrine in the Galaxy Foil treatment from their website, I paid a whopping $125 which was an absolute steal compared to the current TCGplayer prices. The payment went through and I received the order confirmation from their sales system. I expected that shipping would be delayed a bit since the 4th of July holiday was coming up, so I decided to give them until July 5th before I started to conta...

Looking for Help with a Coca-Cola Promotion Memory (1984–1992, Fort Worth TX)

4h ago

Hi everyone! I’m hoping someone out there remembers this because it’s been living rent-free in my head for *decades*, and I can’t find any evidence of it online. Sometime between 1984 and 1992, I vividly remember a Coca-Cola promotion where you could collect red pull tabs from the cans. If you brought them to Ridgmar Mall in Fort Worth, you could trade them in for Coke merch. Things like t-shirts, insulated cooler bags, and other items. I specifically remember having Ziploc bags full of red tabs that my family and I collected. This wasn’t the MagiCan promotion because I remember that. This was about collecting and trading in the red tabs, and the store (maybe a Coke merch store?) h...

THEY WERE JUST BUYING GROCERIES! THE **** WAS WILD!

4h ago

A family uses food stamps to buy groceries—and somehow that’s enough to send the internet into a meltdown. I’m breaking down why this outrage is misplaced, how it connects to my own story, and why helping people feed their kids should never be controversial. This video is about compassion, hypocrisy, and the truth behind who really benefits from our tax dollars.

Business email transfer in family business

4h ago

Not sure if this is the right place for a question like this. My family has had a store for 40+ years. For about 20 years we've had the same Gmail. It's totally associated with our business and is in all our ads, cards, social, etc etc etc... but as the business has been my dad's for all this time, and he was never tech literate enough to have a 2nd, personal email (he can barely handle checking email in the first place, two accounts would just be impossible for him), the email address was also what he used for everything personal, not just the business. Cut to 2025 and I'm taking over the business as he's getting too old... And the Gmail account gets 1000s of email...

Spinning my wheels

OK, so I have two stores. One store printful connected to Etsy. I’ve had one sale and the profit on that was seven dollars. Etsy took their advertising fee and processing fee so I made zero dollars. I might even be negative. I won’t know for 90 days because Etsy decided that need to be put on hold for all funds. I haven’t had an order through my own website yet, so I don’t know if that way the profit would be higher. The website and hosting is very little expense. Just my time to put all the products over there, which is no biggie That one uses print full and Woo commerce. I don’t really like Shopify. Or ECWID or square. Not enough flexibility in adding and removing fe...

24 years ago today 10-year-old Tionda and 3-year-old Diamond Bradley disappeared from their home. Their fate is unknown,

4h ago

24 years ago today, 10-year-old Tionda and 3-year-old Diamond Bradley disappeared from their apartment on the south side of Chicago. Tionda had dreams of becoming a dancer. Diamond was quiet with a gentle smile. This is their story. There were four daughters in the Bradley home in Chicago's Oakland neighborhood: Rita, 12, Tionda, 10, Victoria, 9, and Diamond, 3. Mother Tracy herself was only 32. As the oldest of 9, Tracey had a large extended family in the neighborhood. Her daughters spent time between their mother's apartment and their grandmother's at the Robert Taylor Homes. The night of July 5-6, Rita and Victoria were staying at their grandmother's place, so Tiond...

Everything seems pointless

4h ago

Money sounds cool, but it also comes with a price, selling your time and energy for it. Spending it away from family. But by also not grinding, you aren’t able to provide for your family anyhow. Everything I think of doing, doesn’t even seem worth the energy to even get. I’m not depressed. I guess to better explain, imagine a chocolate bar cost 5,000 dollars. Do I want the chocolate?, sure, but I don’t want it for 5,000. That’s how the world feels right now. Everything seems so ******* far out of reach. My brain is constantly racing and all over the place. I wish I could sleep for a week and wake up with all the answers. Hanging said all this, what are yalls goals and sens...
