New things building up in tradition

5d ago

What are they building in the open lot on crosstown parkway and village parkway near Central Park? All I see is a sign for pinch a penny. And the lot by the Dunkin’ Donuts / Burger King - there’s a sign that says first Watch, Outback and bonefish grill coming soon now for over a year but there’s no sign of breaking ground for construction. TBH I’d rather we don’t have more chains (although first watch I’m ok with) And then there’s soo much construction south of that area towards Becker rd. What else is being built there? I saw a sign for a Lowe’s and Wawa I’m all for more restaurants (less chains plz!!), cafes and family friendly things. Really excited about what’s to ...

Ultimate Birthday Freebies List!

14d ago

I want to thank everyone who helped with this list and if I happen to miss anything let me know and I will update the list. After a long and exhaustive search, I believe I have found just about every place in located in Lubbock that offers some sort of birthday gift (be it a freebie or discount). I did my best to link the restaurant's rewards program. I hope this list helps with everyone who wants to celebrate their birthday out on the town! Remember: **ALWAYS** us a secondary email for signing up for these programs. Not just because of spam, but also in case your info is sold to other spammers. Pairing Chronicles #210: Oh espresso and maduro

17d ago

Having tried many different options, I think a maduro wrapper and an espresso are possibly one of the best pairings available. I've always thought a Connecticut wrapper would be best with an espresso, but I've been trying and comparing and the chocolatey notes that Maduro wrappers usually have plus the coffee are a delicious blend. As far as non-alcoholic pairings go, I think it's hard to match. And it has to be an espresso. None of that 3-liter dunkin donuts dirty water brew. A single or double espresso, at least for the first third of the cigar. I can then get a bit more creative with the other thirds, but this is my *eureka* moment for now.

Donut Delight

50d ago

Hi, new to Newcastle and I was hoping I could get a good tip or two regarding the best donuts in the area. My second daughter and I have been going to cafes for a donut and babychino since she was 2 - it's our pretend to be snobby thing. Unfortunately I will not be here for her birthday this year, so I plan to take her for a 10th birthday donut this weekend as a prebirthday daddy/daughter date, until I can properly celebrate with her when I return. Looking for a pretty well standard choc and sprinkles donut, no frills or fancy breads, but just a bit more than a Dunkin' donut or Krispy Kreme. Look forward to those locations!

Best espresso in Winchester?

54d ago

Hi!! I’m making tiramisu for my best friend’s birthday, and we need espresso. Does anyone know the best place I can get it in Winchester? I know Dunkin’ Donuts and Starbucks have it, but I’d prefer to get the best if possible. Thank you! EDIT: hey yall! Tiramisu has been done and made. I initially went to Hideaway cafe, but alas they were closed. So, since I had already paid for parking and I was on the walking mall I went to Espresso Bar. The result was quite phenomenal!! The tiramisu turned out well and my bff loved it. Thank you all so very much for being a helpful community!! (Idk if anyone will see this edit haha)

Researching and wondering if I could be successful in my scenario with a drinks-focused cafe

65d ago

I’m researching opening a drinks-focused shop in an area that is mainly residential, but has a lot of chain options that are nearby by car. Foot traffic is low, but there are no options of this nature in walking distance in this area. Here’s some specifics: - The location I’m considering is a small strip of 4-5 storefronts. There is a convenience shop, and a restaurant that appears to have replaced another restaurant fairly recently. The food is great (went recently). The other storefronts are all shuttered businesses. - The surrounding half mile radius is residential, which is then surrounded by two large middle schools, a large retail/chain shopping area with a big grocery store, ...

I met a guy through gaming he’s from Jaipur and I’m from Raipur Chhattisgarh . We had an instant connection and we’ve been talking for the past 2 months and it’s going really well. We haven’t met in person yet but I really enjoy doing things for him ….love his smile so much and i love it more when he’s happy because of me. He also puts in effort but not like me not in the form of gifts or surprises. But honestly, I’m not materialistic he keeps me emotionally and mentally happy which is what I truly need. He respects me, gives me time, understands me, and he’s super fun. It’s impossible to be sad around him ,he makes me laugh so much. Right now, we are just friends, and ye...

Breaking News: Cornell Dining to partner with Tim Horton's for Campus Coffee Contract

99d ago

In a surprise move, Cornell Dining announced on Thursday morning that outgoing Starbucks will be replaced by Canadian coffee monolith Tim Horton's for its on-campus coffee outlets. According to Cornell Dining spokesperson Garth MacDonald, the administration felt that it was time to bring the longtime Canadian dietary staple to campus: "We'll have people hooked on large double-doubles (2x each of cream and sugar for Americans), chomping Timbits, munching crullers, and rolling up rims (of coffee cups for valuable prizes) in no time," predicted MacDonald. "Cornell's Campus is outside the normal distance from the border indicative of success for a Tim Horton'...

Mall reviews and other random thoughts from a tourist who visited Bahrain for a week

125d ago

Hello Bahrain. Visited your great country last week for the F1 Race. I’ve been traveling to the Gulf (Kuwait, UAE, and Saudi Arabia) for work on and off before COVID, but this was my first visit to Bahrain. Here are some of my random thoughts. I loved it. I loved the air, the roads, and the way traffic moves. I walked around so much—it reminded me a lot of Abu Dhabi and Kuwait (which is a compliment). The weather was good for most of my trip; I left on the day the dust storm hit. **Malls I visited (Ranked from Best to Worst)** 1. **City Centre Bahrain** \- This is the most 'well-rounded' mall in Bahrain, IMO. For some reason this was rated way down in TripAdvisor's pla...

People asked for an update so here it is:

I can in no way guarantee this is perfect or complete, but its the best I can do in a timely manner so people can at least keep things in their mind when they go shopping. In some cases its a quick summary with data from [ethical.org.au](http://ethical.org.au) however sometimes they were wrong, in that brands might be Aussie but they were owned by US companies for example. I cannot single handedly track the full operations of every brand sold in Australia in less than a week or month but **this is a reasonable guide of commonly know brands to follow/glance at when out at the shops etc.** and nothing more than that. You are welcome to copy the list for yourself and edit as you need. (Let me ...

Anxiety in American spaces?

163d ago

I am Asian American and have had anxiety/social anxiety my whole life. Lately, i have been trying to deal with it and was wondering why I had anxiety. I started thinking about exposure therapy and had a list or idea of things i wanted to do but was too scared to. Over the past few years, I’ve been borderline agoraphobic and don’t leave the house unless i’m running errands or going out for lunch with family. I also haven’t hung out with friends in almost 3-4 years. Before, I used to go out with my friends, explore the city, etc but now i just stay home and don’t have any friends at all. There are so many things that i want to get back to doing and new things to try like cafe hoppi...

New cafe in old popular storefront

165d ago

Quick rant! I work in a new cafe that is in the same location as an old neighborhood favorite that recently moved. Below are conversations I have regularly and can no longer deal with! For the purposes of this post I’ll use the names Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts Ex 1: Customer: Hi! Is this Starbucks? Me: No this is Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks moved locations! Customer: Oh! I love Starbucks, do you sell Starbucks coffee here though? Me: No sorry, but we do have some of our own lovely coffee! Customer: *out the door* Ex 2: Customer: Hi! Where is Starbucks? Me: Oh they moved location! Customer: Really? Google maps says that this is the address for Starbucks. Me: Yea sorry, this is Dunk...
