Home Run Derby Challenge Grand Prize

30m ago

I just got back from Atlanta and I wanted to share this with what I think is the best community on reddit. I used to believe that no one actually ever wins these kinds of things, but to my surprise I actually won the Grand Prize for the Topps Homerun Derby Challenge. I got into this space just last year in 2024 and have been exploring this reddit community and attending local shows on the weekend, I even took a road trip to the National in Cleveland. I have a lot of fun going to shows talking with the vendors about either history or sports and I’m able to get some cards I enjoy. I don’t think I deserved this experience, but I am certain my father did. My Dad grew up like most in thi...

New Fingerprinting Rule via San Fran Consulate

33m ago

I am applying for a study visa through the San Fran consulate. They just submitted this new rule last month. Does this mean you are not required to go to San Fran to apply for the visa anymore? I have an appointment through Prenotami but if I can submit my application earlier that would be amazing, also I wouldn’t have to fly to San Fran either. TIA for anyone’s help!

Job wages make no sense

34m ago

I'm job searching right now and it's absolutely infuriating. Especially the wages. On indeed where the skills needed are listed some jobs require tougher skills and other jobs require easier skills. All well and good. But then the wages come in. And they don't make any ******* sense. What I'm noticing is that a lot of jobs with harder skills and even college degrees pay only like 21 dollars an hour. And then other jobs with easier skills pay higher?? And for context what I mean by "easy" and "hard" skills I mean the time required to obtain the skills I guess. Like a hard skill would be engineering or something and an easy skill would be cleaning. Alo...

2022 Maverick Hybrid – Vibration Under Load, MPG Drop, No CEL – Anyone Dealt With This?

35m ago

I have a2022 Maverick Hybrid, around 38K miles and I’m running into a persistent vibration issue under load. When I give it moderate to heavy throttle, whether from a stop or while cruising, particularly when hitting a freeway on-ramp, it shudders or shakes noticeably. I should note I'm a very conservative driver, always looking to engage the hybrid engine when I am cruising. So If I feather the gas, it stays smooth but it has more trouble maintaining a given speed if I am aiming for a certain MPG reading. There’s also a general lack of power; it feels like the engine’s struggling more than it used to. I can get it up to speed, but I have to give it more throttle to do it. It ju...

Searching For Post-Surgery Food Recommendations (Non-Spicy, Non-Salty, Liquid/Mushy Foods)

36m ago

I am planning to get a chin implant and it will have to be inserted through the inside of the side of my mouth. I likely won't be able to eat regularly until it heals (which ***** because I'll be missing out all the great food in Seoul). I generally understand that after surgery, we should not be eating hard, chewy, spicy and salty foods. That's going to limit food options a lot - so I'm wondering what we can buy to eat from a restaurant or convenience store that involves minimal chewing. (I will not have access to a kitchen either.) Some foods I already know is ok to eat after surgery: * pumpkin packs (mashed pumpkins?) * juk - rice porridge ...but that's a...

What's your decision process when you're thrifting puzzles?

36m ago

I'm intrigued if * It's a recognizable brand. * The illustration appeals to me. * It has a good chance of having a poster. * It could be new. * It's in season. (And this is silly because I know I could store the puzzle for when it is in season. But I have only so much storage, and I tend not to like doing Christmas puzzles, for example, in July.) * It's <$5. (The exception is puzzles at Ollie's and Half Price Books, where puzzles are sometimes between $5-10 dollars.) * It gets a good review on this sub. (If I'm on the fence about a puzzle, I'll often jump onto this sub, search for the puzzle's title, and see if anybody listed a revie...

Black Chain Link Gate Accessories

45m ago

Is it just me, or is it hard to find a gate drop rod that had hardware for black chain link fencing? All of the big box stores only carry galvanized. I don’t have a fencing company near me that sells to the general public, so I’m stuck. Any suggestions?

Affordable blackout Roman shades?

48m ago

I want to buy blackout Roman shades for all three bedrooms in my house, but I’m having trouble finding a source for affordable shades that look nice. Two of the rooms have windows that are 52” wide, which is wider than most non-custom shades come in. And all the custom shades I’ve seen are at least a couple hundred dollars per shade. I’d like to keep it around $75 or less per shade if possible. I found one at a big box store that’s affordable and wide enough but it looks meh. Any recommendations?

Am I overreacting? I am genuinely confused

50m ago

First of all, I want to say I love my husband, he’s the love of my life, please no “You should leave him.” He’s the only person in my life I’ve ever been able to trust or count on. That being said - I’m feeling a bit dismissed about my career at the moment. After years working at a toxic job in healthcare admin where I was absolutely miserable and didn’t sleep due to stress, and all so we could have healthcare and benefits so that he could build his small business, I finally am doing what I want to do. Back story - I was a star artist in high school, but became disillusioned with the academic art world in college, went on to work in offices instead. But art was the only thi...

Congress Rejects Epstein Files Amendment Amid Crypto and Defense Votes

51m ago

In a late-night session, the House Rules Committee voted to block a Democratic amendment that would have forced the release of documents tied to the Jeffrey Epstein case. The decision came as part of a procedural motion tied to cryptocurrency legislation and a defense spending bill, highlighting tensions over transparency and political priorities. The amendment, introduced by Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), aimed to compel Attorney General Pam Bondi to publish all Epstein-related records on a publicly accessible website within 30 days. Khanna argued that releasing the files would serve the public interest, stating that Americans deserve clarity on a case that has fueled widespread speculation. ...

Advice: starting a club/group purchase

53m ago

I'd like to buy wholesale next year. I'm in Nebraska. The idea, in my mind, is something like this: * Find 10-12 other fans that want to spend $300-$500 * Select a store to work through (likely Schneitter's in MO) * Look at their catalog over the winter, have a club meeting to discuss "who wants what?" Like a fantasy draft at a bar. * Combine our buying power and take a few trucks to MO to pick up our booty. Meet somewhere to split it up based on who ordered what. There are THOUSANDS of people in my city that buy THOUSANDS of dollars' worth of fireworks for the 4th. Surely there are a few that are roughly in my appetite class. I'd like to spend $500 and...

Should I ask husband to change the curtain bar back or just let it go to avoid drama with MIL?

54m ago

Pardon my English. So here’s the situation. My MIL is a very sweet, loving, and caring person. We’ve always had a great relationship, until recently. My husband bought our house before we met, and mil’s always helped him with projects around the house like picking out new rugs, replacing table runners, repainting the room etc. They are super close and I always admire their relationship. I just gave birth to our first baby 4 months ago. When my in-laws came to visit at 4 weeks, MIL helped with cooking, which was very nice of her. One morning, I woke up after another night of a few hours of broken sleep and saw the curtain bar on the floor. Turns out MIL had taken it down to clean...

3D print ideas to sell in a general store?

56m ago

A friend of mine has a small community general store, and they’re struggling to make ends meet. I was thinking of offering my “maker” abilities to provide some products for them to sell with a fairly high margin, since I’m willing to simply cover materials and maintenance costs on my P1S that’s sitting otherwise idle. Any suggestions that come to mind? I also have a CO2 laser, but this isn’t the group for ideas for that…

2015 2.5i premium

1h ago

Recently bought a used Forester (blue) with 85K miles on it. I paid 13K, all my co workers think I overpaid but I love my 1st Subaru. The Carfax were great, no accidents and maintenance was done primarily by the Subaru dealership at regular intervals over the past decade. Quick question, do fuel treatments from Dollar General provide any benefits? The car drives amazing, I am just waiting for the dealer to replace the Eyesight system which they are going to do next week.

Appreciation Post 🫶🏻

As someone whose travelled very little, I deliberately chose Westjet over Flair after reading reviews, especially on service/snacks, etc. I had to pay slightly more and I can’t describe how much it’s been worth it. Unreal. Short story below. I had a domestic flight late last week, and returned this week, cutting my trip unexpectedly short due to many personal (and medical) reasons. I actually experienced a massive obstacle (outside my control) on my departure flight and I can’t begin to describe how understanding and accommodating virtually all the employees I interacted with, regarding my situation, were. Both my flights and my baggage had issues (getting temporarily lost, then deli...

My thoughts on the Indian woman - Ananya Avlani aka Jimmy Shah- who tried to shoplift in Target Illinois.

1h ago

She is visiting USA and tried to shoplift goods of worth $1300. These are my thoughts why she sounded like a broken record saying - "What do I do?", "I will pay for the stuff", "Don't do this ya." If this had happened at a store in India, she would've either started yelling at the shop owners, who would've just taken back whatever she was about to steal or let her pay for what she was about to steal and leave it at that. >In India, in spite of her mistake, a woman yelling and screaming at you in a public place is considered bad for your reputation here even if it's not your fault. A lot of Indian women have been known to use this to ...
