Experiencing extreme remorse months after work incident, please help

0m ago

This incident happened months ago. I didn’t give as much thought at the time because I didn’t have the knowledge and compassion that I do now. I used to work at an ABA clinic which means I worked with autistic kids to help them manager behaviors and improve social/communication skills. I grew to like working there because I cared for the kids I worked for and I received support from my co-workers. That all changed a few months in, when the company was struggling to pay us on time (paychecks would be 1-2 months delayed). Most of the co-workers that supported me left, and so did most of the kids I worked with. Only 2 of the kids I cared for remained and I felt like I had an obligation to s...

We're making a model trains video game — so we built a board game first to test the mechanics

0m ago

We're a small indie studio. Our previous game is a slot racing game — simple concept, pure arcade fun, easy to validate. Now we're working on something with a bit more depth: a model trains game where the core loop is about **missions**. Pick up passengers or cargo, deliver them on time, manage your locomotive's trade-offs (fast vs. heavy load capacity), swap wagons at the right stations, and don't derail. The problem with deeper mechanics is they're harder to test quickly in code. So we did what any reasonable developer would do — we made a physical prototype. Each turn moves your train a set number of track tiles. Stations let you swap wagons depending on yo...

Where to get a replacement beater bar?

1m ago

Purchased this vaccum about 6 months ago. About a month ago the beater bar completely seized up. I have been looking to get a replacement since if I go through warranty I'll have to pay shipping anyways. Although i have run into a couple issues. A) when I search the model number on bissell website, nothing comes up. B) any beater bar on bissell website that says it will be compatible has been out of stock. Anyone know where I can source one? Or know of I can repair this one?

🚨 PSA: Fake customer care numbers are everywhere on Google

3m ago

🚨 PSA: Fake customer care numbers are everywhere on Google I work on Cybersecurity and almost got scammed calling what I thought was Amazon’s support number. It was ranking #1 on Google. They got me all the way to sharing my screen. Scammers are paying to rank fake numbers at the top of search results. It’s a massive and growing problem — and it’s targeting everyone, especially the elderly. I built a free app called Rinqo that finds verified customer care numbers instantly using AI — no more Googling random numbers that could be fake. Free on iPhone and Android: 📱 https://apps.apple.com/us/app/rinqo/id6761310412 📱 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.r...

Question re: Logistics for Landing as PR

4m ago

I recently received my COPR. I am a US citizen and my husband is Canadian (and US citizen). We will be traveling to Canada in a few weeks to close on our house purchase.  We will be crossing the border in a rental car.  We will stay for a week, then return to the US. We plan to move all our stuff a few weeks later with my husband driving a UHaul and me driving our own vehicle across the border.   I am trying to sort out the best way to handle the logistics. Would it be better to:  Option A - Officially "land" when we go up to close on the house to get that part handled prior to dealing with bringing our stuff?  Or  Option B - wait to land a few weeks later when we are m...

The neighborhood kids recount a story

5m ago

This could be the closest ghost experience I've ever had. I was around 14 or 15 years old, living in my small hometown of 11,000 people. My cousin lived close by and we would hang out with the kids down the street: a family with two sisters and a younger brother. We mostly spent time with the girls since they were closer to our age. One day, my cousin and I were outside when the two girls came running over. The younger sister was really freaked out and trying to explain a creepy experience she had in the middle of the night. I remembered they mentioned their house was haunted. It was a bit old and run down, but it was what the family could afford. We heard from others that it used to...

The stars burning distantly twinkled through the crisp autumn chill like snowflakes catching the light on a breeze. Warm was my breath, huffing out in little clouds that caught on the breeze. Warm was my body, heaving and shovelling, my leather kirtle tossed aside while I worked. Hot burned the dung of my neighbours, my friends, my family, as I hurled it shovel by grimy shovel into the pit below me. It landed with a slosh each time, mixed with bones and debris, hay ...

Are there any discounts on tennis outfits for women?

5m ago

I visited a sports shop two days ago to find tennis outfits. I wanted something stylish and affordable. I also wanted discounts. But when I checked the outfits I felt disappointed. Some were stylish but not on sale. Some were discounted but not good quality. I could not trust them. I could not decide confidently. Then I visited another shop in the same area. Some outfits looked better but prices were still high. Some were affordable but not stylish. Some seemed perfect at first but fabric felt weak. I remembered I bought sports wear before that was not worth the price. That made me hesitate even more. To check more variety and options while scrolling many online marketplaces ...

AITAH For ghosting my best friend after she moved out?

7m ago

I 25m ghosted my 25f best friend after she moved out of my house. Here's the story: For this story I'll call her Alison. Alison and I had been friends since middle school. We had a 2 year hiccup in high school due to mental issues I was dealing with at the time. I eventually did what I could to restore the friendship and we started talking again. For a few years after high school we talked every so often, but really started talking again after we had both gotten out of long term relationships. She was living with her sister, and I had moved a few hours away to a larger city. Her sister got pregnant, and the room Alison was staying in was set to be the nursery. I was buying a h...

A productive conversations: The sins of eating meat vs the sins of eating vegan/vegetarian.

8m ago

The title is dramatic only because it catches the eye. I don't think people who eat meat (I eat meat) are sinners anymore than someone who only eats plants (I too eat plants)! I'm not vegetarian, but I've been forced to really pay attention to what I put into my body for health reasons, and honestly, I think all people should be aware of what it is they are eating, what it really means, where it is from and so on. I don't think it's right to separate the concept of "beef" away from the truth that you're eating a cow. The same thing, I feel, is also important is to know that the rice, or whatever plant you're consuming, didn't just spawn at ...

34M Dating an Avoidant 33F for 5 Months Struggling with Communication

8m ago

# 34y/o male dealing with a 33y/o Female avoidant partner. Been dating for 5 months. I've been seeing this girl since January, a lot has come up that postponed being able to see each other as much as we'd like. She got hurt and had to take time to recover, had to deal with family matters, at one point she ghosted me because she thought she couldn't show up in the way she should for me, and she also has a home with her ex (where she lives, but she didn't set a boundary and he uses their garage and drops by unannounced to get things but doesn't go in the actual home) and she feels uncomfortable with me being there because she thinks it's disrespectful. So we'...

[QCrit] LGBTQ+ Speculative YA, FIRE IN A JAR (80k words, second attempt)

9m ago

HELLO AGAIN! Thank you all for your feedback on my last QCrit, it was very useful. I'm stuck at the classic "so close and yet so far" point of completing the book, but I'm excited to get this query down so that I can send it as soon as things are ready. I cut it down a lot, so hopefully it's a little more streamlined / less clunky. First attempt [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/PubTips/comments/1plv3is/qcrit_lgbtq_speculative_ya_fire_in_a_jar_80k/). Also turns out that Frankensteining two versions of my first 300 wasn't good! So I have a re-vamped version to share. Thank you for y'alls time :\^) !! //////////////////////////////////////////////////////...
