Allergy Q&A: Long term allergies - chemical and food intolerance ? (Long read warning)

12m ago

[Submit your question](https://mytorial.com/r/ask) **Question:** _I’m not looking for a diagnosis—just hoping to hear from anyone who’s experienced something similar, or has ideas on what direction to explore next. I’ve seen all the specialists, and still we have no clue what could be wrong with me. All of a sudden this year, I’ve developed a massive amount of allergies and intolerances, and I get reactions to smells, chemicals, perfumes, and various foods. It’s gotten so bad that I can’t get in my own car, because the leather smell hurts my lungs, makes me dizzy, and causes throat tingling and dryness along with other symptoms throughout the day. I can’t get in an Uber wit...

Can my doll clothes be salvaged ?

13m ago

Have so many amazing pieces from the early 2000s that were stored inside of a suitcase in my basement for years. The suitcase is vinyl/cloth and had some mold on it but inside the clothes have no visible mold growth so can they be cleaned?

I think my dad made my childhood toys with people.

28m ago

My mother’s death didn’t feel real until I unlocked the front door of my childhood home and the smell hit me all at once. Old dust, pine cleaner, and something sweeter beneath it that I couldn’t place. It was the smell of a place that had been waiting without changing, the way houses do when they’ve outlived the people who loved them. My dad stood behind me while I fumbled with the lock, his hands folded loosely at his waist, posture relaxed, patient. He looked exactly the same as he always had. Older, yes, grayer at the temples, but intact in a way that felt unfair considering the funeral we’d just buried my mother in. He hugged me when I stepped inside, firm and warm and ent...

Debating a Job

34m ago

hello! sorry if this isn't allowed and/or has been asked often. i am 20, in college, and currently working at dollar general for 2 years. i attend a community college about 45 mins from home but will hopefully be transferring to a 4 year school in the next year or so. my question is: **is it worth it to move to walmart and start over?** i currently get paid $10 an hour and only get about 12/14 hours a week, with no promotions. the pay was fine originally but since starting college i have to pay for more gas (and snacks :c ) and am just barely scraping by each week with my moms help. google says the minimum pay at walmart is $14 an hour and my local store is hiring for the fashion cen...

[NF] My first memory is Yellow

37m ago

My first memory is yellow. My first memory is yellow, but my first memory is not the yellow sun bright, blinding as I squint my eyes until they adjust. My first memory is not sunflowers growing tall, reaching toward the sky. My first memories are not the yellow floaties that your mom puts on your arms, a well-intentioned attempt to help you not drown. My first memory is yellow, a yellow Fisher-Price toy to be exact. You know that yellow Fisher-Price fish that you sat on and rocked back and forth. My first memory is a yellow fish, the day that I was dropped off at my first foster home. I played on that toy as her and the strange man who brought me there spoke off in the distance. She shook ...

Help identifying this doll

40m ago

Hi everyone — I’m hoping for some help identifying this vintage baby doll. Details I can observe: • Eyes open when upright and close when laid down (sleep eyes) • Head feels rigid (not soft vinyl); limbs are also rigid • Painted molded hair (no wig) • Small open “O” mouth • No visible maker’s mark on the head • Clothing appears old and is sewn shut, so I haven’t checked the torso for markings yet • Appears to be older than mid-20th century, but I’m not certain • Cradle shown in photos is likely a later addition and not original to the doll I’m mainly curious about: • Approximate age/era • Material (composition vs early plastic, etc.) • Possi...

Learning the Hard Way From a Bale of Clothes

1h ago

So I run a tiny thrift and rework shop, and this week I decided to experiment with something new: buying a bale of clothes instead of sourcing piece-by-piece. Everyone told me it’s a gamble, but I didn’t realize how much of one until the bale actually arrived.  Opening it wasn’t just unpacking inventory, it felt like unpacking other people’s histories. Some items were great, some were puzzling, and a few definitely made me question the decision entirely. One jacket smelled like it had been stored beside someone’s broken dreams. Another piece looked like it came straight from an “unexpected surprises” corner of Alibaba. There were moments I laughed, moments I sighed, and momen...

August 2025 JMT - Gear Review

Hello r/JMT! I had a wonderful hike this past August and wanted to share a review of my gear. I have plenty of other thoughts on all things from toiletries to first aid to repair kits but this is already too long. Lego in a Souvenir Shop

1h ago

My wife and I were in a Whistler (Canadian ski resort) gift shop today when I randomly stumbled across several LEGO sets. There were several Star Wars and Marvel sets, the bonsai tree, and the Game Boy. Nothing about the store made me expect toys—much less LEGO. Everything else was clothing, ornaments, and other souvenirs. Not only did they have LEGO sets, but they even had LEGO minifigure head coffee cups. I still can’t get over how unexpected and oddly out-of-place it was.

Monsieur Dior (Dominique Crenn restaurant on the top of Dior in Beverly Hills) - EXCELLENT

1h ago

Tried Monsieur Dior on Saturday night. Greetings - at the door off Rodeo, one person to open the door, another to check you in and send you up the elevator to the third floor. Ambience - high end, lots of very stylish women, several who looked like real models. Lots of tasteful but expensive clothes and jewelry. People who dressed very casually looked out of place. Quite surprisingly bright, lots of white tables, chairs and floors. Big bar/lounge area, very nice outdoor patio (lounge opens to the patio) with nice view. But it was slightly too cool on Saturday night to enjoy sitting outside, as we don't like our food to get cold. Big interior staircase into the store. Lots of st...

Beware of Oyuka Clothing: My Experience

1h ago

Hello, everyone. I wanted to share my experience with Oyuka Clothing and encourage others to think twice before ordering from them. I placed an order on November 28th. Given the current situation in Sri Lanka, I held off on contacting them for a while, as I didn't want to seem insensitive - especially since my own business has been affected by the recent floods. However, it's now been almost three weeks, and my package still hasn't arrived. I've reached out to them multiple times via Instagram, but all I receive are the same responses: "Your order is in process, and we will deliver it next week." While I understand that delays can happen, three weeks feels ex...

Babydoll (1/3)

>\~16k words total, CW:>! child abuse, non-graphic mentions of grooming and suicide!< The house is bigger than I expected. I knew they’d be posh, or they couldn’t afford a nanny in the first place. But they have fancy agencies for that sort of thing now; someone with this sort of money doesn’t need to advertise on a Facebook group. I fold the cuff of my cardigan over, so that the ripped hem doesn’t show, and deposit the half-drunk Greggs takeaway latte in the neighbours’ wheelie bin. I should have splurged for a Starbucks. It might have distracted from my grown-out roots and chipped nail varnish.  Mum insisted I start looking for work. I finished college 8 m...

I was not sure what we were hunting, but the Saint requested that I accompany him, personally. We marched out of the front door, I was on a palanquin with him as we went along. I saw as the hunters scattered throughout the darkness. Apparently, a bunch of people broke free on a ship and swam to shore. They were scattered in the forest. Me - "Why don&#...

Low Income Resources

1h ago

Hello r/louisville, Just posting this again in case anyone needs the information. I wanted to share some resources for folks that could use extra resources due to the upcoming SNAP benefit stress. If you are low income, food insecure, just need information, or know someone who could use the following info: The HUD shelter finder is a good resource to find shelter, food pantries, health clinics, and clothing. Please ignore the popup. When you go to the shelter finder, click on the category and then enter your zip code and itll share resources based on your zip. https://www.hud.gov/findshelte Use the Kentucky Resource Guide to find housing and supportive services https://public.tableau....

Armando (1989)

(It's been a while since I've posted a write-up here, since I've been busy. Here's one on another case I discovered on the UID Wiki: "Armando'.) *DISCLAIMER: I am not an expert nor a great Websleuth. I mean no harm with these write-ups, so if anything comes across as insensitive or poorly written, I'm sorry. I would like feedback on how to improve my write-ups. Thank you!* **DISCOVERY** On December 10th, 1989, the body of a teenager or young man was found in a hotel in Dallas, Texas. He had been dead for about 2 hours. His cause of death was a gunshot wound to the neck, but his manner of death is unspecified. He had no identification on him, but "Ar...
