Loose HDMI Port on MacBook Pro 14"

3h ago

Hi, I bought this MacBook Pro new for €2200, and somehow the HDMI port is really loose. I looked this up online and saw a few similar reports on MacRumors and Reddit. How is that a thing? I have used €400 plastic laptops and even they had a snug HDMI port that snaps into place. I tried three different cables and they all had the same problem. The same cable worked fine on my last Lenovo laptop. I took it to the Apple Store and they said it is intended to be like that. The cable literally slowly falls out of the port and loses connection. Once a day I have to push it back in. What the ****, Apple? Now I have to use a USB hub with an HDMI output, which takes up one of the three USB-C po...

Photography Requests

3h ago

Good morning! I am currently designing a local iOS app around our canal system that will be free to use (has "ads" or a "pay for no ads" choice). The app development has been more for my learning, so I committing that the revenue generated will first pay off the Apple fee to put it on the App Store (sadly, $100 annually), and then all proceeds will go to the Lincoln County Humane Society. This will be a non-profit endeavour for as long as I can make it. With that said, I would like to request that any photographers please submit or share their photos to be included in the app. I am looking for photos of: Lakeshore Bridge Carlton Bridge Homer (Queenston) Bridge...

Klarna killed Stocard so I spent months building my own replacement

3h ago

I used to use Stocard for my loyalty cards. Worked great. Then Klarna bought it and i really do not like BNPL. I just want my Carrefour card. I looked around for alternatives, but nothing felt right so I just started building one myself. It's called Tivlop. At the beginning I just wanted to have loyalty cards in the app, but after having implemented that I just kept adding new categories. Now it has: tickets, boarding passes, business cards, gift cards, calendar events, invoices, map locations and websites. If it has a barcode or QR code it goes in there. It also allows you to customise the QR codes' shape, colour and add a logo Built the whole thing solo in Flutter. Runs on Andro...

I built a free ATS for a friend's staffing company — open to others using it too (BYOK, $0 cost, no catch)

4h ago

Hey everyone 👋 A friend of mine runs a small staffing company, and I built them a lightweight ATS (Applicant Tracking System) to manage their recruiting workflow — job postings, candidate tracking, CV storage, the works. It turned out pretty well, so I figured I'd share it in case other small staffing companies or independent recruiters could use it. **It's completely free** as long as you stay within the free tiers of the services it runs on (which is very generous for small teams). # How it works — BYOK (Bring Your Own Keys) The app runs on free-tier cloud services. You provide your own API keys/accounts for: * **Vercel** (hosting) — free tier * **Neon** (Postgr...

Not getting interview calls from product companies. Honest CV feedback needed.

4h ago

Hi everyone, I'm a mobile developer with 2.8 years of experience, primarily in Flutter and Android. I've worked in product based startup environments. Despite this, I'm struggling to get interview calls from good service or product companies. I'm mostly applying via LinkedIn and naukri. I'd genuinely appreciate honest feedback on my resume. If anyone has cracked good product companies with similar experience, I'd love guidance on how you positioned yourself. Thanks

Built a price comparison app for 9 quick-commerce & 5 cabs platforms! Science News

4h ago

I built an app called Comparify that compares prices across quick-commerce apps (Blinkit, Zepto, Instamart, etc) and also cab fares (Uber, Ola, Rapido) because I was personally tired of overpaying for the same stuff and rides. Started as a side project, and over time it somehow crossed 100K+ downloads and is sitting at 4.8 rating, which still feels pretty unreal as a solo dev. I’ve been actively working on it and recently pushed a few big updates: iOS version is live now Product matching is much better than before Added Amazon Now, DealShare & Bharat Taxi Currently it compares across: Blinkit, Zepto, Instamart, JioMart, Flipkart Minutes, BigBasket, DMart, Amazon Now, DealShar...

I’ve been trying to find where to watch the movie *Solo Mio* online, but I’m having trouble locating reliable streaming options that work from different countries. Looking: [using Movie ](https://www.reddit.com/r/fmoviessiteinfo/wiki/index/) If you’ve watched it recently, I’d really appreciate it if you could share: * Which platform it’s available on (Netflix, Prime, Apple TV, etc.) * Whether it’s free, rental, or subscription-based * If it works internationally or is region-locked Legal and safe options are preferred, but any helpful direction would be great. Thanks in advance! 🙏

Beanstats - Track your Coffee Journey

4h ago

Over the past three years I've worked on the Beanstats app, an app that lets you track your coffee from bean to cup. I've recently updated everything to a new UI using Liquid Glass where I thought it looked nice. My main focus has always been to have an app that felt native, but also recognizable. It offers iCloud sync across all your devices. **Features** * Track coffee bean usage * Track brews (both filter and espresso) * Track cafe visits * iCloud sync * Connect BLE scales * Coffee insights and statistics * Insights in your coffee spending (you can turn this off ;)) * Write and read NFC tags for freeze entries and pre-dosing * Create (custom) brew methods and follow along with...

Zilch: Free £5. No deposit or spend needed

4h ago

Zilch is a buy-now & pay-later app, and is relatively similar to Affirm in the US or Klarna in Europe/US. It comes with a virtual Debit card to pay for purchases and/or split the cost by paying in 4 instalments over 6 weeks with 0% interest! It used to be that - if you used Pay over 6 weeks without enabling your card before checkout - you were charged a £3.25 fee. However, **from 5 November 2025, the fee was changed as follows**: * £3.25 for purchases up to £74.99 (min. purchase £10) * £4.25 for purchases £75 and over **To avoid this fee, simply choose to ‘Pay Now’** (as opposed to paying over 6 weeks), and you’ll also benefit from their decent cashback rates! _______...

WoW Performance Issues on M4 Pro MacBook Pro - Frequent FPS Drops and Screen Stuttering

4h ago

Hi everyone, I’m struggling with significant performance issues in World of Warcraft on my new **MacBook Pro 16" (M4 Pro chip)**. Despite the powerful hardware, I'm experiencing frequent and sharp FPS drops—falling from a stable **90-120 FPS down to 40-60 FPS** instantly—especially in dungeons or during high-load combat. This is accompanied by noticeable screen stuttering. **Current Specs & Context:** * **Hardware:** MacBook Pro 16, M4 Pro. * **OS Settings:** High Power Mode is enabled in macOS settings. The laptop is plugged into the original power adapter. * **Game Settings:** Currently running on Preset 5. * **The "Low Power" Mystery:** In the i...

Would be grateful for your thoughts and advice!

4h ago

I have reached a stage in my life where I would like to reward myself with a Birkin, and have been studying all the posts in this thread religiously for the last few weeks. I currently have a low prespend at my local Hermes store - I live in a small but first-world Asian city which is very competitive. In the last three months, I have only purchased one Picotin 18 (which I understand does not count towards prespend) and one scarf which cost around USD950. Prior to this, most of my spend (around USD8k) was during my travels, mostly before Covid, which probably doesn't count anymore. I spoke to my SA recently and she said that I needed to spend more to wishlist, suggesting I get some...

Hi everyone, I’m having a frustrating issue on my **MacBook Pro M4 Pro (Apple Silicon)** and haven’t been able to fix it so far. The problems include: * Unable to **download or install apps from the App Store** * App Store opens but fails when downloading apps * In **Xcode**, I can’t **install or download simulated devices** * Xcode and other Apple-related tools seem **unable to connect to Apple services** Basically, it feels like: > Things I’ve already tried: * Restarting the machine * Signing out and back into Apple ID * Checking date/time and region settings * Disabling VPN / proxy * Updating macOS and Xcode to the latest versions * Resetting network settings ...
